i watch the way your fingers glide over the strings — so certain, so smooth that it makes me think i want to try.
as I listen to the rhythm's glow, i aspire to play just the way you do. and perhaps even better — with my whole soul.
for you are the spark in my shaky fingertips. but as for now, i have to wait for a friend to help me.

balancing school + life without burning out ❀࿐
every semester i swear i’m gonna be that person who has it all together. you know… the one who’s on top of school, works out, eats real meals, journals, AND still has time for friends. but what actually happens? two weeks in, i’m living on iced coffee and anxiety, ignoring texts, and telling myself i’ll “catch up on life later.” yeah… same??
burnout doesn’t just happen overnight. it creeps in slowly. and honestly, i used to think balance meant doing everything perfectly every single day. but no. balance is about tiny choices that keep you from running on fumes. and guess what?? it doesn’t have to be that hard.
stop trying to do it all every day!!
seriously. you can’t give 100% to school, work, friends, health, hobbies… every single day. that’s not balance, that’s a fast track to burnout. some weeks you’ll be deep in school mode. other weeks you’ll have more space for friends or rest. both are okay!!
try this: instead of planning for perfection, pick your top three priorities for the week. not for the day. for the whole week. suddenly, everything feels lighter because you know what matters most.
plan rest like it’s an assignment
if your planner is full of work and zero breathing room, you’re not planning—you’re just scheduling burnout. i used to feel guilty for taking breaks, like i had to “earn” them. no. rest is not a reward. it’s maintenance for your brain.
some easy wins:
10-minute breaks between study blocks (and no, scrolling tiktok does NOT count, move or stretch!!)
one no-study evening a week
literally go outside for 10 minutes and feel the air on your face. game changer.
time-block your life (not just school)
this changed everything for me. if it matters, it needs a spot on your schedule. so yes, block time for assignments, but also block:
meals (because forgetting to eat is… not cute)
workouts or walks
actual fun stuff like a coffee date or an evening call with a friend
when it’s written down, it actually happens.
add tiny rituals so life feels softer!!
balance isn’t just about time—it’s about energy. if your days feel like one giant to-do list, you’ll burn out even if your schedule is “perfect.” little rituals make it better:
your favorite playlist while you get ready
a candle before you start studying
making tea as your “start of focus mode” signal
how my day feels when i actually get it right:
mornings where i eat something real (even if it’s just toast) before opening my laptop. classes and ONE focused study block instead of five in a row. a lunch break that isn’t scrolling my phone while panicking about the next thing. evenings where i do one thing for myself—maybe a short walk, maybe a facetime with a friend. nothing crazy. just little choices that make me feel human.
balance isn’t perfect. it’s messy. it changes every week. and that’s okay!!
