like apparently the encyclopedia says that the water that covers the world is uninhabitable to zora so they had to evolve and do other stuff but like

you made an entire world covered in ocean and then got rid of your water people

we could have been exploring more under the water they could have evolved to still be able to inhabit the water like why did you get rid of your fish people

From the day I first played Wind Waker countless eons ago, this exact question has bothered me. I love the Rito to death; Medli is my absolute favorite character in WW and one of my all-time Zelda faves period. But. Like.

Am I correct in remembering that the water was sorta cursed? Like, I think you're explicitly told that the only fish in it are the guys you can summon with fish food, and they aren't getting a whole lot to eat because there isn't, like. Much of an ecosystem down there? The reason that Windwaker doesn't have a fishing minigame (besides probably not having the space) is that the sea is sterile.

There was probably a reason the Zoras didn't want to be in that water. It's Not Normal.

(Looked this up before posting it, and actually—while Ganondorf and maybe a couple of other characters say that there's no fish, the game also contains some characters who define themselves as fishermen. So, in conclusion, ?????)

It doesn't make a lick of sense and trying to understand it has been a bit bothersome over time.... There's a really cool theory on YouTube that states that there may have been more than one evolved species of Zora, which would explain why BOTH of them exist by the time we get to BoTW. Because according to Zelda canon, BoTW is also canon to the timeline but them having the Rito AND the Zora really made things even more confusing

Anyway, if anyone's interested, this YouTube video is a pretty interesting watch. It's not canon, but it's fun to theorize and at least TRY to make actual sense of this evolution line

My favorite moment with him is when he goes to get some prepped baking sheets and he does this fancy twirl with them in front of Jiji. Like, there’s no other people in the room, he does this to impress a cat.

I don’t think he ever says more than a whole word the entire movie, and I still love him more than most Disney princes based on this one moment alone.
