Imagine that your knowledge of the once-lost Earth is limited to religious stories, legends about the past, rare and hard-to-find texts and images, and one tree you've seen in person... And then you're given access to nature documentaries. Would you choose sleep over watching movies?
Simon rejected sleep.
Simon is afraid that everything will be taken away from him again(((
Go see Project Hail Mary
can we talk about the score of this movie? PLs?
aside from Daniel Pemberton being the absolute madman with the work he done, there's something so wonderful about the stark contrast between earth/flashback scenes and the Rocky ones.
All of Grace flashbacks have either a bittersweet, nostalgic sound, with added human choir, or a more percussion-based one for when he's studying the Astrophage. There's a specific leitmotif associated to humanity, although is exclusively in its minor version EXCEPT in the "goodbye my friend" track.
The moment we actually have a sense of wonder is when Grace sees with the scope the Blip-A in the "Petrova Line" track.
"Centrifuge" is the first "space-related- track that actually gives you a sense of whimsy and joy and wonder, probably because it's first of all, cool as hell, but also a sense of control for Grace in his new environment.
THEN in "The Message" we can hear Rocky different leitmotifs even before we met him. From then on, the movie OST becomes so, so much more musical, which makes sense, Eridians are all about Harmonies!
And I don't know I just think it's neat seeing so much differences between how Grace memories of Earth sounds compared to the silly happy sounds full of hope we hear in the present with Rocky
ALSO! Rocky theme and humanity theme are basically almost the same but reversed!
I'm so normal about this movie that I did this in 3 days with a total of 10 hours of sleep. If you know this song you know it s time to bring out the tissues.
Song is The Cave by Mumford and Sons
Snuggle boyss (sketches b4 bed while i have 3 unfinished drawings by tomorrow)
I learned recently that Simon is actually from Mars, and I just knew Ryland would become the BIGGEST fucking nerd about that if he found out. Meanwhile Simon is sitting there wildly confused at how Grace doesn’t know that humans colonized Mars?? Like a while ago??? Grace aren’t you a scientist??? (They still haven’t figured out they’re from different timelines yet)
Meet cute? Uhhhh not with these two I don't think
I really wanted to add more to this but I didn't have any solid foundation — legit just started drawing and boom, bloodymary! Still, I'm hoping to write a one-shot based on this soon :3
Whatever, go my aroace yaoi
