being part of a production of macbeth that opened with the funeral of macbeth and lady macbeth’s baby was brutal because when lady macbeth would go “i have given suck and know how tender it is to love the babe that milks me” macbeth would pull away like she slapped him in the face and look so, so guilty. so fucking good.
and when macduff found out about his children and he would be like “[macbeth] has no children” ross would wince ever so slightly. and it’s just be like. ohh. ooohh. one way ticket to ticket town
and FINALLY during the lady m madness scene her face would soften just slightly and her arms, held to herself, would shift as though she was cradling a child… and she’d start bouncing and whisper “to bed… to bed” and that was the last time you ever saw her. definitely a show i wish i’d been able to watch. man.
the ultimate thing that undid me was when i asked our director how long it was between the funeral sequence and the witches finding macbeth. had he said “three weeks to a month, tops.” the implications.

Scientists have assumed that having so many types of photoreceptors would make the Mantis shrimp able to distinguish colors only a few nano-meters apart if it made analog comparisons between spectral sensitivities. On the contrary, a recent study showed that they have trouble distinguishing colors less than 25 nm apart which is approximately the distance between the sensitivity peaks of different photoreceptors. This suggests that the animals don’t process visual information by comparing input from different photoreceptors like humans do but rather detect which receptor gives the strongest signal. [2] This would mean that the Mantis shrimps do not have a 12-dimensional continuous color space but rather a discrete color space with 12 color bins.

Experiments on the Mantis shrimp species Haptosquilla trispinosa revealed that they use colored filters in front of their photoreceptors to tune the spectral sensitivity. In animals that live in shallow waters, the filters are used on most of the visible spectrum. Meanwhile, those that live in deeper waters have their filters shifted to transmit shorter wavelengths (green-blue light) as longer wavelengths are attenuated by the water. This makes them able to distinguish smaller differences of the short wavelength light in the ocean

Just a note for those who are getting into Leverage or rewatching: the intended order for season 1 is not the order the episodes were aired in (blame network meddling for that), and streaming services tend to go by the airing order and not the DVD order.
On the DVDs for S1, the order is: 1.) The Nigerian Job 2.) The Homecoming Job 3.) The Wedding Job 4.) The Snow Job 5.) The Mile High Job 6.) The Miracle Job 7.) The Two Horse Job 8.) The Bank Shot Job 9.) The Stork Job 10.) The Juror #6 Job 11.) The 12 Step Job 12.) The First David Job 13.) The Second David Job
This is confirmed by John Rogers as the intended order.
You don’t have to skip around to watch it in that order if you’re streaming it. It’s still a good show if you watch the episodes in the order they aired, but I feel like the intended order makes for much better and smoother character development, and provides a bit more context for events as they happen.
Yeah, as it turns out, a lot of things make a lot more sense if you watch in intended/DVD order. FOR EXAMPLE:
The FBI agents at the end of the Bank Shot Job make more sense if they’ve been introduced at The Wedding Job already.
The romantic undertones of Bank Shot make more sense after the married couple squabbling in Mile High.
Mile High, Miracle, Two Horse and Stork are all centered around specific members of the team, so it makes sense for them to come after general cases that make it obvious what the formula is.
Sterling is introduced in the middle of the season, rather than in the third episode. This helps set him up for the season finale, but he’s introduced after six whole episodes establishing the characters, so it’s easier to get why they’re responding to this new and complex threat.
Also, Nate’s drinking problem throughout the season is more consistent when you watch them in order.
