"You can't ship those characters because they have a problematic height gap" well, strictly speaking we can't ship one of them. The other is well within the size and weight limits of most domestic parcel couriers.

Ok so thanks for voting on this but i need you to reblog it too
folks i'm worried for us
the mere presence of women most certainly doesn't suck the fun out of it, and i did not mean to imply that! as i mentioned, there are some female characters who i do enjoy writing for. i just have much higher standards for them than for m/m ships. there are two parts to this,
one is the agency i have through the characters. the most m/f i've ever written is for the dragon age fandom. i didn't mention the female characters involved are my Player Characters. i think they are different from women in non-interactive mediums because of the agency i have over them. they aren't subjected to severe misogyny because the majority of the interactions they have in the games were designed for a default male PC, and often-times when someone is sexist towards them, they can just light that person on fire. i also have created some m/f stuff for marinette from miraculous ladybug because that show is basically a power fantasy for girls with soft hearts. miss fisher from miss fisher's murder mysteries is also like this; she can do whatever she wants and no man can stop her. this is the kind of fantasy that speaks to me. i can't help that so many female characters are limited by their reality - a reality which i share - and i can't just project miss fisher's competence and confidence onto them - that would be out of character.
the second thing: the thing about male characters being misogynistic towards women (meaning misogyny is still present in the story) is that this misogyny is aimed outwards, at people who are not them. i find the misogyny that female characters experience too relatable, because it's aimed inward, at them. it's easy to just be like, "well actually dean winchester isn't misogynistic in this fic because i'm in his head and i say he sees women as people." but i can't be like "well actually jo harvelle isn't experiencing misogyny because the world just wouldn't do that to her" because it would. getting around that requires writing nothing but well-worldbuilt AUs and that's a lot of work.
i'm not saying i don't have any work to do to unlearn the feeling that writing female characters is more taxing, because maybe i do. i'm not trying to have an argument with you, but to engage in a discussion. i hope i'm not coming off as too defensive because that's not my intent.
we all have shit to unlearn. i am by no means a moral arbiter on fandom misogyny or fandom bigotry in general. i'm just some rando who got frustrated one day and made a silly tumblr tournament about it. you don't have to justify yourself or defend yourself to me.
i guess i just don't really understand why you can pretend that dean isn't misogynistic but can't imagine that jo can go a day without experiencing misogyny. i don't agree that the latter necessarily requires some elaborate AU or a power fantasy universe to explain it away. i mean when you make dean not misogynistic, you're not like pretending he lives in an alternate universe where misogyny doesn't exist right? you're just not having him personally perpetuate it. so why can't jo just not personally experience misogyny within the specific scenario you're writing about? you're not saying she's never in her life experienced misogyny, you're just not dealing with that rn because idk, she has demons to kill or mommy issues to deal with or whatever. if you don't want to write about misogyny, you just don't have to, because women and female characters are more than just the misogyny they face, just like queer men are more than the homophobia they face.
I have no explanation for this other than it's what pops into my head whenever I hear this on the radio
The various cut backs to Sam just being alone on the Game Changer stage during Count the Rice are just hysterical.
Because it’s in the news and being hotly debated everywhere…
Which would you prefer?
Permanent daylight savings time (darker in the mornings, lighter in the evenings
Permanent standard time (lighter in the mornings, darker in the evenings)
Neither (keep the current system of changing clocks twice a year)
Bald/I don’t have this issue where I live
I’m curious because I know how I and my friends feel but maybe we are outliers?
yall gotta be nicer about m/f bc sometimes u guys like the blandest gay sutff ive ever seen in my life
gonna add onto this you all gotta stop acting like m/f is just cishet when bisexual people exist and straight trans people exist.
last add on alot of m/f ships of poc or white/poc ship are constantly downplayed for bland white m/m or f/f ships
#also sometimes u guys r just fuckig misogynist. abt the women in m/f ships. sorry
My brother made this comic and thought it should be shared.

With all due respect how is this guy the popular one. My companions thus far are beautiful woman with chronic pain who is cagey but approves of my paladin behaviors, man in his underwear who is nice to children and also approves of my paladin behaviors, and this fucking guy.
like I want to be clear this isn't a love to hate, wet cat situation. just fundamentally zero appealing qualities outside of d&d mechanics. I wish I had not found him by the wrecked ship and he had just wandered off into the ether never to be seen again. if he dies i'm not resurrecting him.

You know, when I've remarked that a lot of the responses to my posts feel like people are just plucking out keywords they think they recognise based on the shape of them and replying to what they imagine the post says based on that, the possibility never occurred to me that this is actually how many American schools are currently teaching kids to read.
Like, my assumption this whole time has been that when folks go "I misunderstood this post that says [thing] as saying [unrelated thing] because I mistook [word] for [completely different word that happens to start with the same letter]", that was a bit. What do you mean they're teaching kids a reading method that's tailored to produce this exact error?
essentially every core premise of the whole language movement has been tested and rejected by both qualitative and quantitative research, but that won't stop them because they can't fucking read
