How do u feel about people who kill bugs in their house instead of letting them go? Maybe out of fear, phobia, or whatever reason?
I understand why they do it, especially people who are afraid of them, and I don’t think getting angry at them helps. Education is the key to empathy with bugs, I find.

For the person commenting on not taking a pay cut, he HAD to change his lifestyle to be able to afford to pay his employees a living wage. He talked to accountants and they helped him break the numbers down based on data about the cost of living and various factors about the commute, housing issues, etc. All inspired by his best friend going nearly into debt over medical costs meanwhile he had several houses, a jet, and drank champagne daily.
He sold stock, houses, and changed his spending and as a result, his employees were overall happier and the way they worked improved. They all bought more shit and had more kids and did all the consumption people want for us while also enjoying their work and their boss enough to band together and buy him a fucking Tesla as a thank you.
And you know what he realized after taking his pay cut? He didn’t need the champagne or the girls or the “lifestyle” of being a billionaire. He feels fulfilled in his work and with the people he’s surrounded himself with and he feels that he’s made a step in the right direction that other businessmen and billionaires should follow.
Please read the article and his statements on twitter because it’s eye-opening to see that you CAN be successful doing things ethically.
Update: during the pandemic, Dan Price cut his salary to $0 so that he could keep paying his employees.

You can’t tell how old a kid is just by looking. I’ve known multiple 5th graders who were taller than I am, and I’m 25 years old. With their faces hidden by masks, you won’t be able to tell they’re elementary schoolers, but they still are.
Lots of older siblings are expected to take their younger siblings trick-or-treating, and they only get paid in candy.
You don’t know if that teenager is developmentally disabled.
You don’t know if that teenager spent most of their childhood in a hospital or sick and has never had the traditional trick-or-treat experience before.
You don’t know if this is that teenager’s first Halloween in America, and they just want to experience a piece of American culture.
You don’t know if that teenager ever gets candy any other day of the year.
You don’t know if that teenager has eaten anything at all today.
And those are just things I can think of off the top of my head.
and even if it is just a bored 16/17 year old out trying to see what free shit they can get. is it really gonna kill you to give them a fun sized milky way from the multipack you bought at poundland? That thing didn’t even cost you 5p, just give the kid the sugar, say “nice costume”, and let it go.
There are worse things a teenager could be doing on Halloween instead of trick-or-treating.
It’s been kind if an unspoken rule in my college town that if college students show up at your door in costume you give them candy because they’re also out to have fun and it’s way nicer for the students to trick or treat instead of going out and getting drunk. It’s also a way for the people who don’t want to party and don’t want to drink to have fun so like, we need to stop getting angry at people older than 6 wanting to dress up and get candy.
Heck, we even offer the parents a bit of candy too! It’s all good fun~!
If ya’ll are someone who is all “IT’S HALLOWEEN” since August and then complain about teenagers Trick or Treating then you don’t deserve Halloween at all.
Just for reference, I had my heart fucking broke when I was told I couldn’t go trick or treating anymore. I love dressing up and I didnt feel like I could anymore because I couldn’t go out and show it off while getting candy.

I remember when I handmade a Draculaura costume because I wanted one for Halloween but I was too grown for any of the sizes being sold for it, I went about my neighbourhood and was told I was making a kid’s costume look slutty (btw I was still underage at that point!) Despite it being literally being leggings, combat boots, a long sleeved dress and a huge neck crown (idk what that thingy is called) so like, fuck off folks and stop being assholes or I’ll crawl around your house and drop eggs into your house

More Beautiful After Being Broken
What this trite imagery misses out on is the fact that kintsukuroi requires a lot of work to repair a piece like that. It takes a lot of time, a lot of effort, a great deal of investment. Sometimes parts of the original are damaged beyond repair, and you have to instead painstakingly create entirely new ones. It’s still not the same. Maybe it’s something more beautiful. But it’s not the fact that it broke that makes it beautiful. It’s the work put into it. It’s the fact that people made the effort to salvage it, because it was worth salvaging, because it was important enough to salvage. It’s the care that makes the beauty. An apology can’t always fix what has been broken. That doesn’t mean it’s not irreparable, sometimes you can go on to rebuild and repair. But it won’t ever be the same as it was again.
I really appreciate this addition because I’ve always hated the “more beautiful for having been broken” thing. Being broken sucks and I hate all those tragic romantic sensitivities that try to make it what it’s not. These pieces are beautiful because they’re repaired with effort put in to making them shine.

Yeah, I’m sick of posts going “guess all that work & all those classes could’ve been online all this time hur hur!” Yeah tell that to my students w adhd who were getting As in my class and are now struggling to get enough stuff turned in to pass. I had to talk one guy down who was like “I’m clearly not cut out for college” like NO you were doing FINE! One of the top students! He might need to take some time off if things are online again next year, but I’ll be so pissed if he decides he can’t hack it and has to give up his plans to be a biomedical engineer because one class format doesn’t work for him.

That last point is very important! DO NOT OUT ANYONE! Do not bring up their trans status or transition unnecessarily! And you trying to look more interesting/cool/whatever by having a trans friend does not count as “neccessary”!!
