The world is a gay place. This is speaking in both terms, as marriage equality was never in debate. The world was at peace, and everyone was happy. That was, of course, except for young Jimmy Corner. He was having a personal dilemma. He couldn't figure out what was wrong. He loved his life, and he loved his mother and father, but something felt wrong. Something told him that he was hiding something, not just from his parents, but from him as well. It took many years for him to figure it out, but when he was a senior in highschool it all became clear. He sat his parents down and said, "Mom, dad, I... I have something I have to tell you." "What is it, son?" His father asked softly. Jimmy took a deep breath and said, "I'm... I'm Christian." They sat there, Jimmy's parents, in shock. His mother lowered her face into her hands and sobbed, while his father shook his head madly. "No," he muttered, "no, your just confused! It's a phase!" "I'm not confused, Dad!" Jimmy urged. "For the first time in my entire life I feel at ease! I feel like myself!" "No son of mine is going to be some invisible man worshipper!" His father boomed. "What am I supposed to tell you Aunts Margie and Tina?" His mother sobbed. "Please," Jimmy pleaded. "I just believe in a higher power! I believe..." "In a man no one has ever seen, except for in some book men wrote millions of years ago!" "I believe what I believe, Dad," Jimmy argued. "I didn't choose to have this feeling in me, I just do!" His father snorted. "Religion is a choice! You're born atheist and you choose to change!" Jimmy's face of terror turned to fury. "I knew you wouldn't understand! You just assume that all religious people are uneducated because they believe in a higher power! You're a bigot!" He got up and stormed out of the house, leaving his mother to cry and his father to fume. Years later they make up, Jimmy's parents don't fully understand his lifestyle, but they love their son no matter what. There will always be a hole in their relationship, but at least they have one. Hate is hate. I am not pro gay, nor am I anti gay. I am not pro religion, not am I opposed. What I do believe in is equality. I don't think we should hate on anyone. I'm one to make stereotype jokes, but I don't mean then to be cruel, just funny. If you're religious, that's okay, if you're gay, great, you're black? Awesome. Asian? Right on. You're a bigot? That's okay, just don't treat those you dislike with disrespect. You're an asshole? Well, that's not okay. I'm not pro gay, nor pro religious, nor pro ethnic. I'm pro human and pro earth. Respect others, even if you don't like them or disagree with them.
