Cretan royal family dinners must have been crazy awkward after Dionysus married Ariadne and Theseus married Phaedra. Like so tense but passably normal until Dionysus gets a moment alone with him. Imagine being one of the most famous heroes of all time and being beaten within an inch of your life by your chronically drunk 5’6” wifeguy brother-in-law who is also a god. Ariadne physically picking up her husband and pulling him of Theseus and Dionysus still kicking and punching at the air in front of him. Everyone secretly loved seeing it.

I don’t think Dionysus was raised as a girl for his protection. I think he was raised as a girl because they didn’t know better. Then one day he told them all he was not a girl. All of the mad women of the mountains who raised and loved him and would be his first maenads rushed to hug him and kiss the crown of his head. Hermaphroditus told him how proud they were that he knew himself. Silenus lied and said he had seen this coming for some time. The world paused for a moment for him but it did not change around him. The creeks babbled and the birds sang and the gentle rains of Nysa beat down upon the trees. His girlhood was in the past tense very suddenly and his boyhood stretched out in front of him.

There are arteries in the ankle. If Paris hit even 1 of them, Achilles would have bled out in a matter of minutes.

No he would not have. Maybe if Achilles yanked the arrow out roughly and stood on one foot and hopped up and down and never applied any pressure and just went “DAMN Y’ALL WATCH HOW MUCH I CAN BLEED!”, which is honestly plausible and in character, it would be a relatively easy artery to staunch.

It was the only point on his body the was not ivulnurable. His mother was said to have dipped him in the Styx as s baby and held him by his Achilles . As you need an 'anchor' to land to not be consumed by the fire.that one spot is vulnerable cause it wasn't dipped in the styxs. So her hand is probs good to except for her fingertips.

Yes but wouldn’t his ankle be a normal human ankle? The rest of his body might be invulnerable, but his ankle should be as sturdy as any other man’s, unless all his mortality shrank up and became super-condensed and highly-concentrated. If you shot a regular guy in the ankle, he’d need medical treatment to keep it clean and staunch the blood, but he’d survive. Achilles apparently just fucking... explodes or something. Loser.

it largely depends on what version of the myth someone believes in. in some versions his ankle is that of a normal human’s, in others it’s essentially whatever force that would injure a typical human is enough to kill him if applied to his achilles, and some straight up say anything touching his achilles would kill him instantly

so really, because of that, it’s 100% possible that he had a completely ordinary ankle with a normal arrow through it and either a) would have been fine if he’d gotten medical help but instead he bled out in front of paris for the sake of egoistic martyrdom and dramatic flair or b) he’s just an arrogant twink with weak ankles
