[ID: Danny Fenton from Danny Phantom, saying the above post. /End ID]
Dannys at Wayne enterprise because his parents want to submit their inventions and "scientific" discoverys for official review. He's bored out of his mind and meets this beautiful girl his age and strikes up a conversation with her. (Or he meets a girl and starts to rant like his father.)
Danny: im just saying Orphan has to be a vampire!
????(cass): No.
Danny: Are you kidding me? She moves with far to much elegance and grace to be mortal. Credit to the other bats but they move like mortals. She dances around both rogues and vigilantes!
????(cass): *blushing* No vampire.
Danny: ok maybe not a vampire but like a shadow demon or dhamphir or something! She's to much!
????(cass): orphan. Is. good. What about others?
Danny: oh! stabby robin and red hood are top tier obviously!
????(cass): oh?
Danny: well yeah! Stabby robin practices the art of the sword, a forgotten art in modern times. And red hood shoots pedophiles! Who doesn't like that?
????(cass): Batman.
Danny: well that says something about batman doesn't it. Have you seen the first Robin's outfit? Oof!
*in cass's ear*: Red Robin here. Good job on keeping danny distracted orphan. We're in the process of arresting Danny's parents. Can you keep it up?
????(cass): mhmm. Hey. Cute boy. Take me out to lunch?
Danny: Oh! Yeah! My parents will take hours explaining everything anyway, But uhm. What's your name?
????(cass): call me cass. This is a date, Yes?
Danny: *blushing* oh, uhm, yes. I'm Danny by the way.
Cass: Danny very cute.
Red robin: uhm? You don't have to do that orphan. Hello? ...Please don't make me explain this to B. Orphan?
Batman: Follow. Them.
Later in the Batcave, all but Orphan where there.
Bruce pinching the bridge of his nose: Alright explain to how you lost both Cass and Danny.
Tim tied to a pole because he tried to run: Okay I was following them like you said. Cass dragged him to a fanasty resternaunt where they shared a dinner, which made me want to puke. Afterward they took a walk through the park where Cass dragged him into a bush and that's where I lost them.
Bruce sighing even more heavily: Oracle can you track them?
Barbara grinning ear to ear: Not only did I already have but our dear Cassandra made it even easier by posting on Daniel's social.
Bruce sighing again: Put it up.
Danny Fenton's page blinks onto the Batcomputers screen. On the top of his fed is a selfie taken by Cassandra covering herself with what looks like the sheets from a hotel with a sleeping Danny next to her. It's captioen "Cute boy is mine, back off b*tches."
Bruce: God lord the media is going to have a feild day with this.
Tim: See it wasn't my fault that I lost them.
Barbara: As you can see not only is Cassandra is not only okay but will seem to be very well rested.
Dick: You at the bite marks on them.
Steph: Damn, do you think she'd be willing to share him?
Jason: Judging the caption probably not.
Damain: And thus another member of my family have fallen from grace.
Duke: Damain don't start, you've been simping for Rachel more than Dick did for Kori.
Dick and Damain: Hey.
Bruce: Enough. I'm going to go get Cassandra, the rest of you don't anywhere.
Bruce leaves.
Jason: So... movie night?
Everyone: YES!!!
Danny woke up to the best morning of his life, which took place after the best night of his life. By the ancients, he loves her. What's her full name, he doesn't know. What's her last name, he doesn't know. Anything else about her? He doesn't know. But he swears he loves her. Which means classic Fenton luck has to ruin it, as danny opens his eyes and rolls over to see Batman standing at the foot of the bed.
Batman: Daniel James Fenton. What have you been doing?
Before Danny even thinks he answers. He's smiling like a lovestruck idiot and says: a girl!
As if on que said girl, the beautiful Cass, enters the room from the bathroom and oh ancients she's wearing his shirt and underwear. He's already forgotten about Batman. He wants round 2!
Batman: Daniel Fenton your parents have been arrested for multiple inter-dimensional crimes. You are coming in for interrogation. Red hood has an interrogation room prepared.
Danny sighed. Right that. That's the reason Jazz and he argued with their parent so hard to go to Wayne enterprise or Star Labs and not Lexcorp or Dale Co or Axiom Labs or the GIW.
*in Batman's comm*
Red hood: I am not interrogating that kid. Cass has claimed him in everyway except for branding his ass. Wait, maybe she has.
Spoiler: Yeah! B! Show us that ass! Maybe she'll let me warm him up when she's away on long missions.
Red Robin: unlikely. Perhaps Black bat should do the interrogation. She'll have him telling us his life story with every secret he has.
Robin: Mother always said seduction is a powerful weapon. Isn't that how I happened?
Batman sighed. All his kids were traitors.
Batman: Cassandra Wayne. Your father has grounded you and wants you back at the manor immediately.
Danny thinks Cassandra.~ Oh Cassandra~. He loves that name. So seductive. Oh! He is in love with her.
*Batman later views there are multiple bitemarks and lipstick marks on Daniel's behind*
Eventually the interrogation was left to Black Bat and Red Hood.
Which was just Danny's luck. The woman who rode him like a pro was Black Bat (he knows because they didn't use a condom ok)... And Red Hood is a very sick™ half a baby. Just a Wednesday with Fenton Luck.
Danny sighed, "Let's... Just let's get this over with. Please."
Three hours later of Danny dumping his life story and then his teenage hero drama and trauma he is let out of the interrogation room after he looked Red Hood right in eyes through his masks and dropped the bomb that the Lazarus Pits are ectoplasmic water contaminated with existence ending diseases which only affect ectoplasmic entities and the undead.
Bruce wants the time to verify that, thank you very much.
Meanwhile Cass sneaks out to do Danny once more and take him out on another date. She just can't have enough of that cute boy who looked at her grace and said nah she ain't mortal.
Now imagine the Phantom squad reactions.
Jazz walks in after a phone call: Alright, the Gotham City Police just called and they said that the Justice League will be sending a technology and super natural expert to check out the lad.
Tucker flipping through tv channels: So what does that mean for us?
Sam growing a bonzi tree in a bowl: Obviously, we either conform or go underground. Which I'm not good with either.
Ellie floated through the air absolutely mindedly: This is all good, but what about Danny.
All: ...
Jazz: Tucker gather up the files.
Tucker saluting: You got it, what about Danny's prototype portal gun.
Jazz: Especially the portal gun.
Tucker leaves.
Jazz: Sam, try to find Danny.
Tucker returning downstairs: Actually, I just found Danny.
Sam: Good, where is he.
Tucker: He status was just updated.
Ellie rushing over: Cool, let me see.
Tucker heading her back: Trust me, you aren't ready for this level of romance.
Sam grabbed Tucker’s PDA: Here, let me see. Isn't this Cassandra Wayne?
Ellie: Whose Cassandra?
Jazz grabbing the PDA: The Cassandra Way- what did this hussie do to my little brother!
Ellie transforming: STOP IGORNING ME!!!
Ellie snatched the PDA and flying to the ceiling fan: Good lord, look at all of those bite and lipstick marks.
Knocking at the door.
DC x DP fanfic Idea: Gotham Gossip
Meta-human rights are a touchy topic in Gotham. While the city is known for Batman's view on them, it's also known for Bruce Wayne's viewpoint.
The Dark Knight did not welcome Metas, while the Light Knight worked tirelessly to employ charities and programs to support Metas. Both men- if Batman was a man- influenced Gotham so intensely that their viewpoints became the face of the public.
Even people outside of Gothman learned what "Are you a Dark pawn or a Light pawn?" meant when it was spoken about during national debates.
Bruce is now wanting to do a Dad 'Killing is Wrong' lecture. But, while they might share blood? Danny was correct, he hadn't even known about Danny. He was an entirely absent Father. Does he have the right to lecture him? Is that his adoptive parents job? How does he get to know him? Does he have the right to get to know him? He was just called an absent Father on live TV. He doesn't know how to feel about this at all. His other children being chaotic and noisy isn't helping him think either. They all have an opinion about this mess.
Cass once heard Danny purr while sneaking up on him. She is now obsessed with getting him to purr again.
“… uh. Cass? What are you doing?” Danny asked.
Cass eyed him. He stared at her in confusion, completely covered in blankets and sweaters. He looked a bit like a snowman, actually, and he still wasn’t purring.
Cass sighed and shook her head. She took off some of the blankets and covers and Danny let out a large breath, looking relieved as he was finally able to breathe underneath the mountain of covers.
Alfred the Cat meowed loudly and ran away after getting the opportunity to slip out of the blankets.
Cass frowned to herself and tried to think of what made Danny purr. He had been holding Alfred the Cat at the time, purring up a storm as he cuddled against the couch. He had been covered in a blanket and a thick sweater.
She tried to replicate that past scenario, by making sure he had been comfortable and warm, but it didn’t seem to be working.
“Cass? Is something wrong?” Danny asked. He climbed out of the pile of blankets and then crawled over to her. Cass shook her head again.
Danny eyed her. “Doesn’t seem like nothing. Is it related to why you’ve been doing all this?”
Cass paused. Then she nodded, but didn’t elaborate. Danny sighed, and put his head on her lap. He rolled over and looked up at her with a critical gaze.
Neither of them said anything for a long while, as Cass continued to think of more ways to get Danny to purr. Danny stayed on her lap, playing with the strings of her shorts as Cass mindlessly petted his hair.
A smooth rumble started to fill the room. Cass froze and looked downwards, where Danny had his eyes closed, cuddled close against her stomach. He vibrated slightly with his purrs, almost unconscious as he dozed off.
Oh.
Oh.
Dc x dp idea 133
Danny is really confused. Like sure he made a fake account in order “use” his parents completely valid and not in biased research on ghosts.
Cause obviously. Their completely legit research disproves multiple peer reviewed and factual papers.
Tucker made the fake account. No real names or numbers. So. They couldn’t know it was him right?!??
He just wanted people to see how wack the papers were and bring to light the very not accurate papers. He figured using botched research to counter claim others would do something.
But??? Why was the flash in his living room arguing with his parents about scientific articles. And proper research??
That's not to say that Danny won't take advantage of the scrutiny. And you know. Approach as Phantom. Totally willing to talk to the other hero. Maybe ask for advice. Get his species recognised as fighty but sapient. But... He doesn't want to deal with it at home too. He's just gonna.... Casually wander down to the lab and sabotage their latest weapons. They look pretty occupied right now.
-----
Barry, was going to throttle them. HOW could they call themselves scientists! How?! Scientists were supposed to acknowledge that bias and try to check it at the door! They were supposed to look at the facts! Not just make up bullshit like this! No way! He did feel bad for their kids though. Their son looked, very tired. And not entirely happy to be woken up by an argument in his living room. Which you know, fair. And... Why was he slipping into the lab of doom. Oh no. This was going to be an Investigation wasn't it.
The son being able just to enter the lab of doom. Yet another red flag. Did these guys even take a college lab class?!??
No no no. That just wouldn’t do. Maybe they just didn’t notice. That had to be it.
They didn’t normal let there son go into a lab alone right?!??
Jack: of course he’s allowed in the lab. Keeping it clean is apart of his chores!
Maddie: going to claim kids can’t have chores now? Another un reasonable claim.
It was going to be an investigation.
——
Danny for his part. Down in the lab. Who was about to go dismantle a weapon or two. Just sees his dad had gone fishing again.
Well at least he’d be able to get whoever was caught on the other end back in the zone before the arguing ended. It only sounded like it was getting louder.
He really wasn’t expecting for the flash to slam open the door to the basement right as he unhooked a ghost. At least his parents didn’t see
Danny: Keep them busy! I gotta get this guy back to their dimension!
Flash: What the actual fuck!?!?!?
Danny: I'll explain after! Distraction now! Talk later!
Danny was still going about safely getting the poor ghost out of the cage and gently moving them back to the poetal. Flash had decided to be the needed distraction. After all the kid was clearly against his parents beliefs and actions of he was willingly freeing their 'research specimens '.
This is absolutely about to be a full Justice League investigation. Which means the Big Bat is going to stick his nose in.
And if these Fentons are half as bad at parenting as they are at scientific research?
. . .
Bats can suck it! Flash is calling dibs!
I mean. They are almost certainly going to prison either way. They opened a portal to another dimension. A portal that directly caused all the issues Amity Park is having. That's reckless endangerment on a large scale. There is NO way to get out of that. And that's before we get onto the neglect and endangerment of their children due to the house.
The only time the Fenton parents get away with the portal? Is when they are already accepting Phantom. And Danny goes out of his way to hide the portal. And everything has settled down. But this time? He had no chance. Add to that the unethical experiments?
Yeah.... Danny and Jazz are getting new parents.
Ngl? With Vortex ALONE? They have definitely negligently manslaughtered...just.... just SO many people?
He made it snow in deserts and monsoon in temperate areas? Basically "here's weather your infrastructure is NOT built for! And A LOT OF IT!" Out of no where? People froze to death in places they rightfully never had to worry about that, got lethal heatstroke in others. There were flash floods. Mudslides. Avalanche.
That was JUST Vortex.
Consider Embers world wide concert. Did ANYONE tune in on a moving vehicle? Plane? Train? Backseat of a car? You know... where the person DRIVING would be second-hand exposed and dragged under?
Can you still safely operate vehicle under mindcontrol? Or are you too busy cheering and chanting?
That's just TWO.
.....how many kids did that therapist kill?
How many people fell asleep in hazardous or immediately leathal locations, thanks to Nocturne?
Do you think Overgrowth gave a single DAMN about what humans are FATALLY allergic to what plants?
Three, Four, and Five.
How many dead, through NEGLIGENCE, by "just" five entities? Countable on one hand. Because their need to be right is more important then their best friend, their son, and the safety if not the LIVES of everyone around them.
For God's sake... they have NEIGHBORS. Did they even warn them? When they tried powering up that machine? In case things went wrong. Gave them the choice not to be there, in the house? Do those people even KNOW? They are being blasted through the floorboards, day in and out, by ectoplasm? That they live at ground zero to any serious interdimensional threats?
Yes, these kids know their life is "not normal". But do they grasp it is HORRIFYING to any sane adult? Can they? Could they have survived this long, coped with it all, if they hadn't denied reality? Made a joke of it?
The horrors are funny! Right?
It has to be.
And Barry is not just a scientist. He's a DAD. He wants to scream and punch walls and cry and be sick. But he won't. That won't help these kids. He may have come because the papers were driving him up a wall, but this? Fuck.
He's taking these kids to eat their weight in burgers and calling in EVERYBODY. He has no IDEA what jurisdiction this falls under and doesn't care. Shut it down. All of it.
This stops NOW.
Danny was super confused. But Flash had offered to buy as much food as he wanted. So he was absolutely down with that. Poor guy looked really freaked out.
Danny: Are you ok? Like. There hasn't even been a ghost attack yet and you're already.... Freaked.
Flash: Ghost Attack?
Danny: Yeah. It's fine though. Phantom always fixes it! Even that time Amity Park got taken into the Infinite Realms.
Flash: Your whole city got kidnapped into the afterlife. Presumably because of a ghost. That could only come through because of the portal your parents built?
Danny: I know! I really want to shut it down! But... I don't know how to do it safely.
Flash: Yeah... I'm going to be calling in the rest of the Justice League kid. We can definitely figure it out ok!
Danny: Oh! That would be great. Then my parents can't hunt anymore ghosts as well! No one deserves that you know? Even the blobs!
Flash:.... What a blob?
Danny: They are the cutest! They are just balls of ectoplasm that imprint into a strong emotion. They look like squashy balls. They just kinda bimble about. Like, like... You know those fish? No thoughts head empty. Only food?
Flash: The cleaner fish?
Danny: Yeah! Those ones! That's what they are. Just, ectoplasmic base not carbon base!
Flash: You seem to know more about ghosts than a lot of people?
Danny: My friend Sam is Goth. She likes to track down the ghosts and hang out with them. So we ask lots of questions!
Ok, first of all, I love this so f-ing much that I want to scream. Just AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa...
And second, I really want to see danny realize how not normal his life has been ,and just break down, I mean, just like trying to make a joke and he just laughing and then tears form in his eyes then he's sobbing and ugly crying so hard he can't even breathe and the hero's (flash/bat-fam) now have to deal with this FOUTEEN YEAR OLD that had to become so strong that he can fight against beings that MIGHT AS WELL BE GODS and it just kinda hit danny that he ... well.. died like ok he came back .... but he still died like how do you cope with that?
Trauma loads of trauma
Ok before I get into that I have to say I love how Danny can use Sams gothness to explain his ghost knowledge lol
Also tldr: everyone in amity needs lots and lots of therapy not to mention any other consequences of drs fenton need to be right
Thank you for this wonderful addition ❤️ 😊
Flash learning even a fraction of this? Is already furious. As the investigation slowly turns up more and more information? It's going to get worse. BUT! Danny and Jazz? And Ellie when he finds out about her? They need a nice, calm, rational adult. Something they have been severely lacking. So he has to shove that to the side for later. And help the people in front of him.
Danny would love having a rational calm adult. One who actually listens. I feel he’d actually be the one to calm down to it the best.
Give the fact that Flash even just listens to him about the distraction with only an explain later. Gives him more credit then some of the other adults he’d known.
Jazz. She jumps to conclusions at times. She knew Danny was half ghost when she forced the road trip. She knew ghost were attacking him. And yes Youngblood was not visible to her. But she knew on some lvl ghost could be invisible. That they had powered. She was trying to do what was best, but didn’t just believe Danny that easy.
So for him. Flash just straight out being a distraction is new.
Danny would love to step back from it all. He had felt what his parents have done first hand. He was ready to sabotage there work and dismantle it.
Jazz is going to be the suspicious one. She had every right to be as well. Food coming to life she had to raise him.
When Ellie finds out about the investigation and portal being shut down. The fentons being arrested. Yea she’s right back with Danny and Jazz. She couldn’t stay with them cause of jack and Maddie.
While flash is dealing with the three kids. The league is tearing apart every article every posted. Speaking out about the beliefs. Making sure everyone knows ghosts are sapient and sentient.
Yes. All of the yes. Flash is having to relegate himself to childcare? And, ooft. He's doing a great job. But he has quite a bit of repressed anger he would like to use. He won't. The kids are more important.
The rest of the League? Also very angry. And holy shit, there is so much that needs to be done in this city. How did they miss this? Holy fuck! Those poor kids!
It’s gonna be tricky to help the kiddos out.
The flash family now have the task of making sure the kids know food isn’t going to help them. Lab samples on the fridge?!??!!
He needs to go over proper guidelines with them. To ensure they know what was wrong. He can’t even really set up therapy for them.
The last school counselor fed on misery and tried to kill jazz. That’s not gonna be easy to work through.
Skulker shows up. And crap. Kid has a ghost literary hunting him for sport cause his parents half killed him.
Okay. Okay. He can handle this. Totally.
—
The league still finding out more. The wack weather was a ghost. JLD showing up. I’m sorry what do you mean your town was yoinked?!!! Someone defeated pariah?!??!!
At least the Public was on their side
It's a good thing Flash is the fastest man alive. Whenever his righteous anger starts to get too bad, he can dart away to go blow off steam and be back as the calm, rational adult these kids need before they even know he's gone.
Danny knows Flash runs off sometimes to let out some anger. Benefits of being Clockwork's apprentice and ward. He can't keep up with Flash, but he can feel when the flow of time is getting wonky. He doesn't have the heart to tell Flash he knows. Flash thinks he's doing so good hiding it from them. Danny doesn't want to ruin that for him. Plus, it's kinda nice actually. Because of the whole Dan thing, Danny knows (or rather, he thinks he knows) he doesn't have the luxury of getting angry for himself and his family. Seeing someone else get angry for them, it feels good, in a weird way.
Oh absolutely. And it's an adult as well. Flash is even doing his best to hide it! He's making sure to focus on them! Adults only do that in bad ways usually! But Flash? Is being so nice! Listening and looking out for them. going over lab safety and other things he isn't sure they were taught. Just in case. It's such a blatant display of care. Danny is just gonna cuddle his sisters and bask. This is nice.
Angst angst angst but all I can think of is that Barry and Iris’s existing kids are twins called Don and Dawn. So they’re going to end up with Don, Dawn, Danny, Dani, and Dan. And Jazz.
It’s so confusing.
(Bart is so excited. His uncles and aunts have finally arrived! He knew them in the future, of course, but this is their first time meeting him. And yes they’re immortal but they look so young just now! They’re his age!)
(Barry: …what do you mean they’re immortal?)
Bart covers his mouth. Oops. He didn't mean to out them. He slowly turned to look at them. Well, at least Ellie seemed amused.
Ellie: Time travel huh? So! Do we get taller?!? It's no fair that me and Danny are still so short!!!
And what about the whole Vlad situation? He’s obsessed with Danny and Maddie, cloned Danny, and was given a life-altering illness by Maddie and Jack’s negligence. I mean, he shouldn’t have stuck his head so close to the proto-portal, but still….
Probably has a ghost proof cell made. Mandatory therapy. They have to find a ghost healer too. Just in case it's not all human issues.
Vlad gets his first ghost check up ever from, at Danny's recommendation, the Yetis.
The Yetis take one look at Vlad and go, "Oh you poor thing! In, in, bring him in! He needed treatment 20 years ago!" A malformed core from the nature of his death.* Stunted growth from lack of ectoplasm in his development.** And a detrimental Obsession raging so out of control it's practically strangling him!
The Vlad that comes out of the Far Frozen is, well, admittedly still a bit of an arrogant entitled asshole. But not a supervillain. No longer hellbent on seducing Maddie, killing Jack, and turning Danny into the perfect son. It's an improvement.
*Danny got a quick death and instant ghost formation with the pure ecto of the Realms. Vlad got a blast of corrupted ecto and a slow, agonizing death from the contamination it caused.
**It would be years of hospitals, then building his wealth, before Vlad would have the chance to build his own portal for access to ecto.
It isn't a quick visit either. Vlad is stuck in the Far Frozen for a while. He has mandatory therapy every week even after he is released. The Justice League are happy that with some repayment to his victims? And the on going care? Vlad has been dealt with. Jazz, Danny and Ellie of course are given a trust fund each. Vlad recognizes that he hurt them badly. So he will keep his distance and help as he can.
Barry gets custody of the kiddos. Carefully, and with time? Managed to get them into chatting to Dinah. They don't call it therapy at first. Bad association and all. Help ease the kids into it.
Ok, buuuut... is mo one going to mention the facts it's basically inevitable that Barry will find out about Danny being Clockwork's apprentice and, by proxy, Dan existing? Is nobody going to mention the sheer horror this man will go through when he realizes his kid, the sweetest little kid with the biggest heart he's ever met, so big he dedicated his afterlife to helping people, is going through Evil Future Trauma!? It's not the first time the JL has dealt with Bad Futures or even Evil Alternative Selves, but it's usually the adults dealing with it, not an already traumatized 14 year old boy!
I mean, absolutely! But Danny, Dani and Jazz have so much else that it more immediately important to share. It is going to take a while before they get there. I have an idea for how it comes up.
Bart: Uncle Barry! I'm taking them to meet my team! See you later!
Barry: Have fun! Be safe. Text if you are eating there ok.
---
Tim: So. You guys wanna be added to the bingo?
Danny: Bingo?
Kon: Yeah. Super hero shenanigans and trauma bingo. Like, Mr and Dani are clones? So Danny gets the 'got cloned' square. We get 'are clones'.
Jazz:... May as well. I will definitely lag behind though.
Tim: You had mad scientists for parents. I doubt you will pay behind that much.
---
Later at the Allen home.
Bart: So. Added them to the bingo. Did you know Danny had a future evil rogue who was half him?
Barry: No. How... How many did he fill in?
Bart: Well. He's currently winning. Might want Dinah to take a look?
Barry: He's winning the bingo? Oh no.
I love the bingo being a fun thing that can also double as a way for heroes to check in on each other without it making someone feel like they are being checked in on.
Like, especially for the kids, who may already feel like they are being judged or can't live up to their mentors; it'd probably be pretty easy to feel like someone checking in on you is equivalent to them thinking you can take care of yourself or handle the superhero life. Hero types are often prone to hiding their hurts, pushing away their support systems, ignoring their own needs, and struggling to ask for help.
But bingo is just bingo. A harmless fun game like never have I ever. Just a neat way to bond with friends over shared experiences. And if it just so happens that it causes some people to clue into the fact you are coping with some shit they didn't previously know about, well that's just a happy little accident isn't it?
#the prize for winning teen hero bingo#is mandatory therapy
Want to bet Diana and Clark conspired to get hero bingo going. So they could have a way to check on Bruce's mental state. The fact it ended up being useful as a way to check in on the side kicks? Was a beautiful accident they could not have expected, but are deeply grateful for.
What all could be on the bingo board? Well I guess friends tried to kill you would be one Danny would get. A rogue trick or blackmail you into dating. Lost and had to get his powers back.
What other things did Danny get on the bingo board that Flash and Dinah are looking at?!
Evil timeline bs | mad scientist rogues | clone issues |
Timeline adventures | creepy old man wants a new apprentice | Sleep? In this economy? | Severe injuries | Trouble with the law | Heroics/life style balance |
And his scored just keep rising like a rocket. Oh shit....
Possibly the only part of Junior* Hero Bingo that Danny doesn't immdeiately dominate in is the Mentor category.
Stuff like,
Got benched because "it's not a kid mission"
Got benched because I messed up something else
Mentor did something I'd get in trouble for
Mentor disregarded my input when I was fucking right
Danny never had a mentor. The fact that he isn't dominating that category is almost more concerning.
*There's a Junior version because there are a couple categories that are only relevant if you start young and/or have an adult mentoring/monitoring you.
Also, not everything on the bingo board necessarily needs to be uniquely traumatizing. There's probably a bunch of stuff that is just random common occurences or minor stresses and aggravations; like being thanked with food by a little old lady, or smacked with a handbag by a grumpy one, playing hooky to do hero stuff, or having to pretend you're weaker/stupiser/clumsier than you are to maintain your secret identity.
Oh for sure! Good and goofy things too! It's meant to be hero bingo, not trauma bingo. (The trauma aspect is there cause heroes tend to be traumatized as fuck. Their buddies needs a way to check in subtly). Danny's dominating trauma and power mishaps aspects. Running at a high level for "weird shit" and "heroic deeds". And losing abysmally at "things my hero mentor has done". Danny was probably do confused to hear the adult heroes have missions kids aren't allowed to do. Like, they are letting them be heroes? Why are they setting age lines on missions?? Someone has to explain things like honey pot missions for Danny to get it.
Honestly? The thought of Honey Pot missions hadn't even occurred to me when I typed that. I was thinking more along the lines of situations where the parental mentor puts their foot down. "It's too dangerous." "The stakes are too high." "You're too young." "You don't have the training." "I can't risk losing you." That kinda thing, y'know? Just another common adult hero mentoring kid hero trope.
Now that you've dangled the thought of Honey Pot missions in front of me, that's probably another one on the lighter side of the Junior Bingo card. "See an older hero on/going on a Honey Pot mission." Probably often pairs with "Find an older hero out of uniform and have to pretend you don't know it's them." and "Catch an older hero doing something/looking ridiculous or fail."
Can you imagine Danny's response to the other reasons though? What do you mean too dangerous? All hero work is too dangerous? Not trained enough? How else are they meant to learn? Why are you looking at me like that? I learned cause of I didn't people would get hurt. Isn't that how it works? No? Danny is confused. The adults are sad. Barry wants to commit several murders. That's his boy now! And he's so sad!!!
How long until someone notices Danny *hesitating* over the "died but got better" square?
They already know he's a halfa. Well, Flash and the big three do... How many of the others have been told might still be down to Danny.
Danny: Like... I'm half ghost? Does that count as better? Or...
YJ: We say this in the least judgy way possible. But, WHAT, the ACTUAL!!! FUCK!?!?!
I think the "got better" thing would just be scratched off all together. It doesn't really need to be there anyway. Obviously, if you can still play, you must still be around in some capacity. And being around in some capacity obviously doesn't mean you didn't still die. The 'got better' modifier just doesn't really need to be there. The tile can just be 'died.' Simple and inclusive.
Mm, now thinking of a little angst snippet of a hero dying and someone leaving their bingo card with that tile marked off on their grave. Last tile they'll ever mark. Bonus if it's the tile that gives them bingo. Like, tears streaming down their face mumbling, "Congrats, buddy. You won." Maybe hoping somewhere deep inside, a hope they dare not feed but harbor nonetheless, that they'll be one of the ones that come back. And if they do, the card is there, waiting for them to reclaim it.
Ya know, I’ve noticed that nobody has mentioned Sam or Tucker in awhile. It keeps bringing me back to that one episode where Danny tried to be “normal” by wishing his powers away and getting upset that Team Phantom was never actually interested in Danny Fenton. His sister was so focused Danny having a whole new set of Ghost Instincts and Ghost Psychology that when he lost all of it, she was no longer interested in him. Sam was mad that she couldn’t have a Cool Boyfriend, and Tucker was only there because he shipped Danny and Sam. So when he threw that all away to let himself Be Normal and Loved, they threw him away in return because he was no longer Interesting.
So more angst: What if getting the Drs. Fenton arrested and the Ghost Portal shut down pushed Team Phantom away because Danny wasn’t being Phantom the Ghost Hero anymore? What if having no more ghost fights led to them no longer having anything to fight, and thus having no reason to stick around Danny?
I imagine that him joining YJ started some argument between him and Sam that broke them up and she dragged Tucker with her. And with Jazz being old enough to head off to college, she probably started to slowly distance herself from him. Dani would’ve stuck around, because they’re both halfas and she still loves her Template for who he is. Dan is probably stuck in the middle, having trouble picking sides, but still silently judging Danny.
Danny is devastated and venting to YJ about the fallout of his old team, and crying to Barry about the whole thing. His new siblings are def Big Mad at them, and maybe a little bit at Jazz, but college is hard so she might be able to make that excuse to get away with it. Sam and Tuck however are scorned by Danny’s new friends and family. Barry is probably just disappointed in them for manipulating him into being a hero.
Imagine how mad they’ll all be when they find out that it’s actually Sam’s fault Danny even died in the first place. Sure he was alone that first time, and it was definitely his own teenage stupidity that caused the accident, but when Sam found out about how he got his powers and did the whole Memory Blank thing only to kill him for the sole purpose of making him a hero? Oh she’s in Big Trouble from YJ. Unforgivable.
In a DP only universe, Sam's decision is cruel, but needed. Someone had to defeat Desiree and Danny was the best option Sam had. Sam sacrificed Danny's life to try to save others.
In a DC/DP universe? Sam's decision is cruel and selfish. There would have been a way to contact the Justice League. Danny did not need to die. Sam decided she would rather have Danny specifically be the hero and murdered him to force him into the role she cast for him.
I'm with YJ on this one. WTF Sam.
Hmm, I still think it was cruel, but if Amity was blocked/ignored by the JL since I'm sure there would have been calls in the beginning, it might have still been needed. Any DP/DC verse has Amity hidden through GIW or Ghost stuff so that Danny could be Phantom with minimal changes. So Sam still might not have been able to reach another hero.
So Sam was definitely cruel, but it may have needed to happen. This can be fiddled with by the author, of course. Either way, Danny should be able to come to terms with the fact that he's half died twice, with Sam being a ... reason? Catalyst?
Honestly, I think the Heroes should inform Grandma Ida and let her deal with Sam. Her parents are already opposed to too much of Sam and won't get through to her. But her loving Nana will set her straight, she likes Danny.
Something I made while dealing with my own stuff and hoping drawing this would pick me up somehow. Maybe it worked.

Phantom has a power he refuses to use in front of any other hero.
Not because it's too powerful or anything like that.
No.
No, because while he can't hear it, apparently Ghostly Wail sounds like the screams of loved ones dying. It's his death scream, but it distorts when others hear it.
Instead of him, they hear their loved ones.
So no, he's not hiding it because of an 'Oh the darkness inside of me you wouldn't understand, this pain I bear' middle schooler syndrome thing, he's hiding it because that's really, really fucked up.
Until one day, he and another hero are in a trap.
The villain has accounted for everything, all of their powers or gadgets, except the Wail.
So.
Danny turns, looks at the other hero, and gives him an apologetic look.
Then, he turns to the villain, and lets out the Wail.
They all hear different things.
Superman hears the wails of hundreds, the loved ones of those he was too late to save, the cries he could never bear to ignore.
Batman hears himself. Two voices overlap. One, a child crying out for his parents and another, much older, crying out for a fallen Robin.
Manhunter hears the voice of a dying planet.
The Flash hears himself, the scream he uttered when that lightning bolt struck and bound him to one of the most powerful forces in the universe.
It's never discussed outside of the mission reports. One by one, they find themselves in a position where the Wail is necessary.
And one by one, they learn why they didn't know about it before.
I HeadCanon that everyone hears their own things, but if you manage to record his wail, then you hear his own death screams, and electricity and powering-up machinery.
I see the bats going over their body cams/coms and getting ready to hear whatever the attending hero said they heard, or they understand enough to prepare themselves to hear their own personal thing. But they're all blindsided by hearing Phantom's own screams, sounding younger than ever. The sound of the scream changing between the electricity killing him, and the ecto burning through him to revive him, and pitch/tone going back and forth as it killed him and revived him over and over.
Maybe they were blocking out the whole "this hero was originally a dead child" thing, maybe the younger heros never truly thought it through or realized, maybe the older heros ignored it, pushed the thought down and pretended otherwise. But they all hear Phantom's own death screams and now they have to face it fully.
They thought hearing their own peoples deaths were traumatizing, but to hear the recordings and then have to look Phantom in the eye afterwards....
What anxiety? I have CHEEKBONES!
I think I'm in love?

This video makes me cry every time it’s on my dash and I can’t even iterate why.
Like the dog doesn’t even know it’s a competition and she’s made history. She(?) just is happy and knows she made her owner happy too.

as a hong konger i feel the need to speak out and give a local's perspective on the fire that has ravaged tai po's wang fuk court because there's so much disinformation and western gazed reports regarding it.
a quick background to the incident: a fire broke out in the housing estate of wang fuk court and caused the burning of 7/8 blocks in the estate. so far a total of 128 deaths have been reported with around 200 more missing and 79 injured. the fire burned for a total of 43 hours. the housing estate was undergoing a renovation project that cost 330 million HKD (around 42mil USD) when the construction material of one block caught on fire and subsequently spread to the rest of the buildings. around 4.6k people live there and majority of them are elderly.
a lot of the media is blaming the bamboo scaffolding for the cause of the fire's spread. that is not true and is a distraction from the actual problem of corruption that caused this avoidable tragedy.
for starters, bamboo scaffolding is a centuries old practice that is a recognized cultural heritage in hong kong. everything in hk, including the iconic skyline, was built using bamboo scaffolding. centuries of cantonese opera shows hosted in bamboo theatres had hot food stalls with no issues of burning. it is not because it's cheaper or from an inflated sense of nostalgia but a factual thing you can easily confirm by looking up any heat test with bamboo. but the most obvious proof you can find is that the site itself shows the scaffolding mostly in-tact while the safety net is almost completely gone.
which brings me to my next point about the nets. they have been proven again and again by residents own tests to not meet standards of being fire-retardant. there have been complaints made an entire year before that were dismissed as inflammatory rumors aimed at hindering the renovation. this is a test from TVB news showing how a net with fire-retardant properties vs a net without would react under fire. but if that's not enough, here are multiple videos showcasing how the fire's spread was completely accelerated by the nets flammability.

網民 striking_biking 於Threads上

(backup) 左邊一棟,由外圍開始見到火到燒到頂, 30秒! 就算有咩警鐘都唔會有用
rather conveniently as well is that construction sites across hk the day after have begun removing the safety nets. i know of people working in construction who can corroborate as well.
as always, the incentive for such corner cutting is money. fire-retardant nets cost 6-10 times more than regular nets. among this was the use of styrofoam boards as opposed to metal for blocking out the windows within the construction site, which as another factor in aiding the spread of the fire.
this renovation project was the most expensive out of the 3 proposed for the estate. it was majority paid by the residents, with each tenant required to pay 160k for the project. i would also like to add that as wang fuk court is a part of the home ownership scheme, they are owned by the housing authority, which is an agency of the hong kong government.
330 million in funds yet they could not even afford the bare minimum of fire proof materials? their greed and corruption is what turned the housing estate into a death trap for the thousands living there, NOT the bamboo scaffolding.
another tragic (and suspicious) factor in the deadliness of this incident is that the fire alarm system for all 8 buildings failed to sound, which likely caused the deaths of many more as most people reported not even knowing there was a fire until either the smoke reached them or they could see the flames.
the government's response to this has been to immediately roll out policies to switch to steel scaffolding as opposed to addressing the real issue of corruption involved. likely because of the election coming up next week (which has still not yet been cancelled despite the tragedy) where there are candidates directly involved or connected with district councilors that allowed this to happen by denying and shutting down resident's concerns. people are also concerned that this is just another method of streamlining the process of outsourcing labor from mainland, as their standard is using steel scaffolding and their labor is far cheaper. this would also allow the mainland industry of providing steel scaffoldings to break into hk.
majority of the relief effort has been funded by or provided the citizens of hk themselves. volunteers have poured in from across hk as well as the bordering shenzhen to help deliver supplies for displaced residents. if there is one feel good thing to take away from this incident is that we fucking care about each other, far more than this shit ass government. the initial relief funds offered by the government was a mere 10k per family, just plain disrespectful when they've lost their everything. (as of right now it has been raised to 50k, likely due to backlash but it still does not compensate even the amount that they've paid for the renovations that took their home)
i mostly wrote this post as a half rant and half psa to let people know from a hkgers pov the blatant display of greed and negligence that allowed for something like this to happen. this is not a tragic accident but a situation so preventable that all the people involved should all be charged with murder. this is the deadliest disaster hk has faced in the last 70 years, and the death toll is only expected to rise as the fire brigade actually starts breaking into flats individually.
hk is very small so most people, myself included either know or know of someone directly affected by the tragedy. about 50% of hkgers, again myself included, also live in these types of housing estates. i'm deeply disturbed and appalled at the implications and would like more people to know how complicit our government is in this incident.
a correction and addendum to this
i severely miswrote the amount the residents had to pay. it was $160k-180k and not $16k. the post has been edited.
this is an episode from the the tv show Scoop (local show that investigates and reports audience submitted problems) from 2024 showcasing how residents have been complaining about the sudden charge for the reconstruction fee and how many were unable to pay that amount. among the details reported is that residents were not even informed of the $160k they'd be needing to pay until the month they were due the first bill.
this also means that the $330 million was majority from the residents themselves.
if there ever needs to be more proof that this is corruption...

Stop just asking "is it normal?" and start asking "is it harming anyone?" Lots of harmful things are normalized in this society and lots of things considered weird or rare are completely harmless. Whether something is considered normal or common shouldn't be the deciding factor in whether it's okay
Like a lot of disabled and neurodivergent and mentally ill ways of living and expressing yourself are both not normal and not harming anyone and it's the last part we should focus our attention on
