Can we please get rid of the idea that very single radfem is just enthusiastically a JKR supporter and just rushes to blindly support her everyimt she posts something. I won't lie I acknowledge her role in radfem ideas but like she isnt the terf God or some shit. She has bad options and approaches sometimes. Not all radfems are JKR supporters or even like her content. Can we please develop some nuance around her.
It is possible to acknowledge the incorrect conspiracy theories people spout about her while also acknowledging her own shortcomings.
i do think lobbying for data centres over climate goals should be considered a crime against humanity btw
There are a lot of people in the notes saying, basically, "Yeah, that's polyester for ya!"
but, the thing is
even polyester fabric was higher quality in the past
yes, not all of it, but, still, a noticeable amount of older polyester was...nicer.
yeah, it would still get picks and hold on to every bit of underarm odor, and that's on top of no-one knowing about microplastic shedding
but a 1950s Wash'n'Wear shirt, or 1970s double knit pantsuit, or 1980s neon sweatshirt, or a 1990s slinky knit or crushed velour mock turtleneck...so many of them would have been significantly higher quality than the fast fashion of today.
i work in historical costume. i work in a big-ass warehouse, with hundreds of thousands articles of clothing dating back over 100 years (for original pieces).
the BLINDING difference in clothing quality between even the 1990s and the mid-2000s...not even going in to the decline in quality of clothing made in natural fibers (jeans with elastane, i'm looking at you), I've got faux-leather trousers from 1980s that are in near-mint condition, even after being hired and worn repeatedly for the past 40 years. we get donations of clothing that shows and films have bought online for contemporary shows that are disintegrating after being used on one show, for like....10 days, max.
don't even get me started on the seam allowances we used to get in clothes, because the assumption was you'd alter it at some point...
they hate you. they hate the planet. they have drip fed you worse and worse quality clothing until you don't even realize you're being sold Garbage
always some new bullshit in the ocean
Why is it always orcas or dolphins
Why can't a salmon do some bullshit for once
worry not ☝️ they're doing coke
it does suck that the government defunded PBS but it's also so fucking funny that now that they don't take uncle sam's slavery dollars they're running videos like "How america's foundation was built on genocide"
no more being polite about it fuck the USA
pbs is a fundamental vertebrate in the backbone of american democracy
Note: PBS has covered the topic of Native American genocide previously, such as in the 2022 episode of Compass titled "The Great Evil: Christianity, the Bible & the Native America."
They just, um. They're no longer being quite so superficially polite about it, is I guess a good way to put it.
Laetitia Ky is an Ivorian feminist artist who creates elaborate sculptures using her own hair, wire, and thread to convey powerful messages about feminism, body positivity, Black beauty, and African heritage. Her intricate hair art, which can take the form of animals, objects, or abstract shapes, is influenced by traditional African hairstyles and serves as a platform for her activism and advocacy for women's rights.
Laetitia Ky is an extreme TERF who buddied up with Marguerite Stern, and with whom I had the displeasure to "talk" about gender theory (read: I tried to ask her about how she could reconcile afrofeminism and exclusion of our trans sisters, and she just insulted me).
You asked her to include men in her feminism, I’m not surprised she insulted you
it's called a ball python because it is a python(🐍) that ball(🟠)
nothing in the rules says a python can't play basketball
the idea that every summer will be as hot if not hotter than this for the rest of my life is unbearable i need to (remembers suicide jokes are bad for my mental health) murder an oil executive
is anyone else annoyed that "ai" encompasses both chatgpt and tools we train to do repetitive tedious work for us. and by the ripple effect of articles like "scientists develop ai to detect cancer early" that make people argue for the merit of chatgpt or become anti-medicine. and by the general state of the world and society
reminder to all disabled people that you’re allowed to tell people “i can’t do that” about stuff you can ‘technically’ do but which harms you or requires a period of recovery or preparatory rest etc. you don’t have to explain the complex nuances of your condition to anybody who demands it. i’ve found it’s honestly better to give the least amount of info about your symptoms unless you trust a person a lot. you hold the power over your health information. you choose whether or not to share the details of your condition with people who might not understand.
(She's defending him btw) is there hope for women orrr? Survival instincts of a dodo bird
Just wanted to inform you all that the Wikipedia page about gender critical feminism has been renamed to "Trans-exclusionary radical feminism." The proposing party said using "gender-critical" was like calling Nazism "Jewish-critical socialism" and another called it akin to calling Scientific Racism "Race Realism."
This is just a small example of what happens when we let scrotes control the narrative; they change terms, definitions, quietly erase facts, and eventually they slowly rewrite history. These small changes (including within academic work and on websites such as Wikipedia) add up and can ultimately influence or change people's opinion. I HIGHLY encourage radfems on this website to join Wikipedia, learn its policies and guidelines, and start making good faith edits so we can restructure the biased cesspit it currently is.
If you are interested in editing and want tips or help, reach out to me! I would also love if another person could collaborate with me!
Check out this artist I stumbled across. She proudly identifies as a tomboy female homosexual lesbian and posts gender critical lgb without the t stuff. She’s Ukrainian-Norwegian. Her music is like electronic-y and is all about actual lesbian relationships between two female women. It seems like she loses a few followers every time she posts something gender-critical, so please go follow and support her even if her music isn’t your thing. You can find her spotify and different ways to listen to her music in the link in her instagram bio. go support her!!!!!
