"You are so brave and quiet I forget you are suffering."

I didn’t wait on that poll I made, contrasting tail for this bunny. I plan on making a lot more though so I’m excited to see what the people of tumblr feel.
My derpy prototype is done! His name is Bundtlet.
I am knitting stuffed bunnies. Should they have contrasting color tails or should the tail match the body
Contrasting color

Having PCOS is great because you'll find medical articles that are "People with PCOS are gross fat yucky hairy freaks who can't even properly have babies ://" and then continue with "they also have much higher rates of depression, for unknown reasons"
Surely it isn't due to the fact every time people with PCOS try to get help for their symptoms they instead get recommended hair laser removal over it?? Or get told weight is the problem when PCOS is specifically making any weight loss much harder??
I've straight out been called a hermaphrodite by a medical professional because I mentioned I'm not bothered by my body hair, for fucks sake
A pair of socks out of the WIP pile! The tomatoes are sprouting! Here’s hoping I’ll have at least 4 healthy seedlings ready to grow!
I’m planning to make a summer tank top. I can’t wait for the yarn to arrive!
I’m taking a few days off knitting for some sort of not tennis elbow situation…. But boyfriends socks are off the needles and blocked for his use!
Getting a bit closer to that bingo!
me, knitting rows 1-7 of any project: this is nothing, everything looks wrong, I’m fucking it all up
knitting row 8 of any project: incredible, it’s all coming together
All done with these fuckass mittens!!!! It was a really lovely pattern and I learned to like magic loop! But I basically had to knit 4 mittens so I'm sick of it lol. They're double layered with an incredibly soft alpaca/cotton/wool blend on the inner layer.
As lunar new year approaches, I'd like to share my mom's Chinese new year cake recipe. It's probably more like a pudding, as definition, but we call it a cake. This makes the perfect "not too sweet" nian gao. And it also doesn't stick to your teeth like a lot of nian gao.
2024 blaze edit: my mom had a massive stroke last March and it left her barely able to walk. She was an incredible cook and has some of the best recipes. I just felt this year, it was more important than ever to share some of those recipes so that even though she isn't able to cook for others herself, she can be cheered by the knowledge her recipes are still making ppl happy.
Mom’s Chinese New Year Cake (Nian Gao)
Ingredients:
1 cup (250 ml/211 g) brown sugar
1 cup (250 ml) milk (cow milk can also be substituted for a plant-based milk if you prefer)
1 cup (250 ml) coconut milk
½ cup (125 ml) oil
3 eggs
1 bag (400g) glutinous rice flour
1 tsp (5 ml/4.5 g) baking powder
Full recipe text under cut. Download recipe pdf here. Recipe pdf includes photos of what coconut milk and rice flour I use.
Just had to scroll through two years of posts to find this recipe again! Worth it though! I promise I’ll write it on a recipe card this year!
stumbled across a knitting pattern for this hat while i was in post limit purgatory. (with a crochet version that also exists)
it's 5 bucks which is more than i can afford to spend rn personally, given the "no income whatsoever" thing, but i figured i'd spread the word considering:
In the 1940’s, Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a form of visual protest against Nazi occupation of their country. Within two years, the Nazis made these protest hats illegal and punishable by law to wear, make, or distribute. As purveyors of traditional craft, we felt it appropriate to revisit this design. All proceeds from the sale of this pattern go to the immigrant aid agencies who will distribute the funds to those impacted by the actions of ICE.
(EDIT: thank you @sentient-tent for offering to buy the pattern for me!!!)
"My husband complains about the cold," the man said. "Can you teach me a spell to keep him warm?"
"I can teach you to bind hair into a net to catch heat," the wizard said, "using arcane counting and a pair of fine wands."
After a while, the man said "Isn't this knitting?"
"This, too, is magic."
Boy has this yarn faded over time!
I decided to do a long term project to clear some of my stashed leftover sock yarn. Eventually it’ll be a blanket but it might take me a while to make it the size I want. Hopinf to weave in the ends as I go and let it grow with me.
Here’s my first 2 squares with their coordinating socks! The pink is something smutty from bad sheep yarn and the second one is Oxenfree from nerdy knits.
When I count my stitches three times and get three different answers, I start assuming it's none of my business and just move on. Like, what can I do?
🤣🤣🤣
the feeling i get when i turn yarn into fabric is what dr frankenstein felt when he turned body parts into a guy
I've decided that in 2026, I'm making bingo sheets for my yearly goals :) I really like this format because it's very low pressure while still providing something to drive towards!
My friend saw this and asked if she could join in, and of course I said yes, so any time either of us gets a bingo we'll go to a yarn shop together :)
I’m giving it a go too! Might swap out some of the things I don’t like for goals that are more realistic for me but I’m excited to push myself a bit with some of these!
I think I’ll swap Tunisian crochet for brioche and amigurumi for knitted or crocheted Christmas ornaments or cat toys… I really don’t like making stuffed animals but I have a few simple things that fall a bit short of that goal and have clear uses. Lastly blanket I’ll swap for sweater.
With that I’m looking forward to working towards a yarn store visit too! There are lots of yarn stores in my community and I’m too lazy to go most of the time (Chicago is big and I’m a homebody). For this project I’ll check out a new one for each bingo!
