yeahhh I think some of the cwil streams got a bit more cinematic as time went on, but not to the level of las nevadas. ultimately it is really interesting to see how various ccs utilized the medium and how that changed over the course of character arcs

i keep thinking of that one post that described the dsmp server as the wild west, it was so unique for multiple reasons, and the way the fanbase influenced the lore is really fascinating too. i believe the more serious lore updates were at least partially because of that fear of the high expectations so many streamers described, like they felt had to move forward very carefully and thoughtfully or stans would riot. that was a recurring joke among all of them, ooh don't do this or don't touch that or stans will get mad. like guys i get it but also. this is. your story!! these are your characters!! the direct relationship the stans had with the streamers and their actions was so. wow. truly my favorite social experiment. um but i feel like i'm rambling again i just have an indescribable love and fascination for the Dream SMP i would joke that i could talk about it for days straight and not get bored but technically i have been doing that online for 5 years now so we are long past the point of no return o7

i like to think of minecraft enchanting as as magic that takes on some of the quirks of the person doing it... imagine manhunt dream picking up armor after killing sapnap and finding it to give off warmth,... a sword from antfrost that makes his movements quicker, lighter...

Something I love in roleplay heavy Minecraft smps is the fact that no one is a professional voice actor. Everyone just sounds like a basic gamer, a completely real person. They all talk like regular people but with 100% commitment to the roleplay in game. So you can have like a Roman emperor like character who just sounds like some 30 something year old IT worker and you just go with it. Or a anime type villain who sounds like a 20 something year old nerd that stumbles on his words and stutters frequently but is also like the most feared and loathed character in universe and in fandom. Voice acting does not really matter in this scene

Something about it is so endearing to me, adds a kind of “realism” to it (which sounds a bit absurd for talking about MINECRAFT roleplay) but there is a certain charm to how not like fictional characters the players all sound like. I think it adds a lot to the overall experience.

normally the mcyt community tends to wildly overestimate cc!Sapnap's age (he just turned 25 two weeks ago) but today for the first time I saw someone wildly UNDERESTIMATE his age and say he was 17 when the dsmp happened 😭

like. Sapnap was roleplaying dating Quackity and Karl, who were 20 and 22 in 2020/2021. If Sapnap had been a minor during that, there would've been literal bloodshed over it. Especially because Sapnap, for a period of time, stayed at Karl's house. Later he lived with Karl, Punz, and Foolish for several months iirc, all of whom are older than him! (by 2.5 years, 4 years, and 2 years respectively).

my only guess is that whoever posted this (I blocked them for posting doxxed info) was like 8 or 9 in 2020 and just doesn't remember everything correctly. that or they took my joke post as reality (they didn't, the post was before I made it)

Thinking about protege Tommy now... him having been revived once because he was curious about what it felt like, coming back and curling up on himself and going "....Wilbur was mean" in a small and quiet and dissapointed voice

The moment when he's told about the staged finale and he realizes Dream is pulling a Wilbur and he can't stop it. Again, the person he looks up to is going to destroy themselves and he can't stop it

The horrible months afterwards where he keeps quiet because Dream told him that no one would belive him if he told them Dream planned to get himself thrown in prison. That everyone would think he was manipulated and lied to...
