Necessary and sufficient
Adding a second lock was not necessary.
Understanding the difference between necessary and sufficient is necessary, but not sufficient to earn a math degree.
Part 2
I think about The Man of the Hole so often. 27 years alone. 27 years with no one to speak to but strangers to wave to. Survived a genocide, a massacre that killed everyone he had ever known and later, an assassination attempt. He still tried to warn researches about the traps he built. He was only about 60 when he died in 2022. The people who tormented him in life later desecrated his grave.
I do think it is important to share the stories of the Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island and Ishi and the countless other indigenous people who experienced the profound trauma of being the last survivor but it is important to remember that the last Aboriginal families in Australia to be contacted by Europeans were resettled in the 1980s and the Indian government has proposed a plan that will mean total genocide for the Shompen people. The total eradication of indigenous peoples, their cultures, their languages, their ways of life, is not something which occurred in a distant ugly past but an ongoing process.

you have permission to pick that 2 year old "abandoned" project back up. it's not mad at you for setting it aside. and maybe time and distance have helped ease or erase the things that made you put it down in the first place.
Feeling physical exhaustion as a psychosomatic reaction to things that feel daunting or intimidating is such a ridiculously counterproductive thing to do. Like there's a situation that requires you to be alert and mentally present and paying attention, and your brain just goes "hey I don't wanna. I don't wanna be here. How about going unconscious instead. No fuck you we're warping out. Night night."
Like most annoying human things it's really just a healthy mechanism that's been pushed too far.
I'm pretty sure it stems from "This is going to take work so I should rest and maybe eat something first"
But when you are exhausted all the time, and/or don't have enough time, etc... It gets pushed too far and you get caught in the loop of "I just need MORE rest and maybe food first" infinitely, every time you look at it, because of disability and capitalism and then self re-enforcing habits and so on.
The best advice I can give is to learn to consciously gauge what your actual limits are and how much rest or recovery you actually need before starting, and to maybe break daunting things down into smaller tasks and rest in between.
This doesn't really help for things that have come up that you can't really put off, except maybe to help inform you that you are in fact maybe being over extended.
The fact that most of us live most of our adult lives in a state of constantly being over-extended and accepting that as normal is kind of a problem.
If you are encountering the problem a lot, it might mean you need to take on less, or get something diagnosed, or sleep or eat more.
How do I proceed if The Daunting Task that the brain is trying to avoid is trying to understand why a normal situation is stressful? Like okay time for a 100% normal function the average adult has no problem with, and the brain just goes "no fuck u we will not."
A lot of recent studies coming out strongly suggest that psychosomatic pain is not a thing. It’s really chronic inflammation triggered by an already distressed system that now thinks you’re in mortal danger bc of the added stress. The physical energy to handle it isn’t there, like on a cellular level.
The person above you is kinda right. I felt this way for years with no answer, then this may I find out they’ve renamed PCOS, it’s PMOS now, and it’s a gd METABOLIC DISORDER. I learned about that and like 2 other conditions I most likely have bc genetics, started taking the advice around what specific nutrients and supplements I needed and it’s not like I’m magically better now, but I’m definitely in Random Pain or Physical Distress a lot less often already
TL;DR: It’s probably not actually The Thing Itself sapping your energy, it’s just where you notice it being gone bc addressing it would require a lot more than the daily average, and your body is trying to beg you to conserve energy for sone reason or another.
Does PMOS still happen if you don't have ovaries?

These facilities chew you up. They suck the life from you and grind your body to dust to extract every ounce of profit they can.
These places destroy the body, the mind, and the soul.
I worked for Amazon for 3 ½ years and a place called Tellworks Logistics for 1 year. Both warehousing. It was working for them that I was at some of my lowest. I was starving, suicidal, sick and getting sicker. I had no life outside of work, I was losing time and days, I vanished from my friends lives a lot, I couldn't celebrate many holidays. I have scars both mentally and physically from these places.
People have actually died at Amazons and they have had cones put up around their body as everyone was instructed to go back to work. The piss bottles aren't just a joke, they will fire you for not making rate just because you had to use the restroom.
My aunt had passed, the last person I had contact with in my family and my only remaining mother figure and they told me to use my own time because aunts don't count under bereavement.
I had a stalker at work that would corner me in my work station just to watch me. He'd come from across the warehouse to just sit and watch me. He pretended not to speak or understand English, even though I had literally seen him hold full conversations with others in it, just to act dumb and draw out our interactions. I reported him, many many women had already reported him, and they told me it was just a cultural difference and he continued to stalk people. I once asked a fem coworker about it when I was newer and she said "they don't do anything so we just gave up."
We had metal detectors for leaving work but not coming in. I was at work when there was a shooting at the Amazon warehouse across the street.
These places will kill you. Maybe not immediately, maybe not literally, but they will kill you in every way that matters.

Accessibility tip:
If you want to automate your home a bit, but you don't want any "smart" tech, you can just buy remote controlled power sockets instead
They are a lot cheaper and easier to set up and use than some home automation smart tech nonsense
They don't need an app (but some models come with optional apps and there are apps that are compatible with most of these)
Many of them use the 433mhz frequency to communicate, which makes most models compatible with each other, even if they are from different manufacturers
The tech has been around for a long time and will be around for a long time to come
You don't have to put any fucking corporate listening devices like an amazon echo in your home
Models for outdoors exist as well
[Image: Five electrical outlet enhancers accompanied by two remotes; each of the remotes has ten buttons: Two for each outlet (one on, one off).]
Cannot express enough my love for these. My entire apartment is on five circuits, controlled by two duplicate remotes. I can turn off the living room lights from my bed, if I forget, without getting up. And no apps needing so nothing to hack or spy on you.
we use these for seasonal lights and stuff during the holidays
