New hairstyle “monkhawk” which is like the tonsure of a medieval European monk gelled to stick straight up forming a basket-like shape
I drew fanart.
Something that gave H.P. Lovecraft nightmares is the work of my favorite artist. In "At the Mountains of Madness" he specifically mentions "the strange and disturbing Asian paintings of Nicholas Roerich."
This is what Roerich's paintings look like:
#hp lovecraft thought penguins were grotesque and horrifying#he was not a difficult man to frighten
i fucking love the matrix
Come, you simply must meet my associates! This woman right here is a delightful pervert of sorts, and this fellow here, he’s some kind of a fucking idiot.

Humans are one of the best vocal mimics on the planet, and second-best of all simians, coming second only to hobbits. One of those little shits can perfectly mimic the sound of your fridge having a spontaneous catastrophic breakdown, and no amount of close personal inspection will fully reassure you that it isn't actually broken. And then you get back to the living room and that fur-footed little cunt is sitting right there on your couch, in your spot.
are we talking, like, tolkien hobbits, or is there a noise-mimicing mammalian species called hobbit that i've been unaware of? /gen
Tolkien hobbits.
One of the books has a scene where the party is around elves who have personally been tormented by Gollum. Either Merri or Pippin, I can't remember which, decides to spook them by making a Gollum Noise at them. They are successfully spooked. At the time of this scene, the only hobbit that has ever encountered Gollum in living memory is Bilbo. So the only reason why they would know what Gollum sounds like is through Bilbo telling stories of his adventures.
So either Merri or Pippin (can't recall which one) could mimic the sounds Gollum makes from doing an impression of Bilbo doing an impression of what Gollum sounds like, accurately enough to startle elves who have personally dealt with Gollum before. So either
A: Hobbits are just naturally so absurdly good vocal mimics that a hobbit impression of a hobbit impression of a specific sound is indistinguishable from the real thing
Or
B: Hobbits have some kind of natural vocalisations that could not be mistaken for anything else. Elves that have only ever in their lives heard one hobbit barking could hear that sound again and immediately be on guard of where the hell is that thing now
I need distraction. everyone comment wikipedia articles so I can pick random pairs and play six degrees of Wikipedia

needing to take a shower: worst feeling in the world getting into the shower: hardest task in the world being in the shower: 🚿🧼🛁🧴🫧 getting out of the shower: second hardest task in the world being out of the shower: (soft hair) (soft skin) (cozy towel) (clean clothes) why is getting into the shower always so hard. i should remember this feeling (most beautiful feeling in the world) next time i need to take a shower
Playing magic the gathering and someone's whole entire deck is just spells that make you discard your cards but now your hand is empty and you're just playing straight from deck to table dealing -1 damage every single turn with one sickly little one-point-value runt of a creature that they failed to kill at the start and you're whittling them down from 38 health because they removed your only weakness and they can either concede or stay here trapped in the hell of their own making.
editing is so funny because it's like "damn, i wrote 'before' two times within three paragraphs. they are going to stone me in the town square for this"
The author must have been eating woodland salad, candied acorns, turnip pie, plum-cakes, bilberry tarts, arrowroot shortbread, and glazed maple shoots, and drinking flagons of October ale and raspberry cordial when they wrote this

As it turns out, Nigel Farage might have wasted most of his summer by spending it fighting with a man wearing a bin on his bonce.
endlessly amused that Farage seems to think he's a Magic: The Gathering card
blunder of the century: Farage plays Ephemerate into non-targeted removal
