Wondering where our great Ukrainian books and literature are? Destroyed by ruzzia over decades, eradicating Ukrainian language and voices, and they keep doing it. They target civilian infrastructure, malls, schools and publishing houses deliberate to eradicate Ukrainian culture. I beg everyone from the US who reads this to call their representatives to finally lift the ban on Ukraine that stops them from using US weapons on valid military targets in ruzzia. They are currently bombing several cities to the ground from their own territory because of this, while Ukraine is not allowed to strike back at bases and stations just on the other side of the border.
Every time you go in a public place and something ISN’T disgusting it’s because somebody cleaned it. Every time you feel comfortable using a public bathroom or sitting at a restaurant table or setting something on a gas station counter or playing on a playground it’s because somebody cleaned it.
Thank you to everyone who cleans the world, especially those who are underpaid and under appreciated.
I worked in a supermarket for 7 years and I don't think I can understate just how much cleaning you had to do for it to look clean (it very often where not in the places you aren't supposed to see)
True for food service, retail establishments, gyms, outdoor areas, schools, religious buildings, office buildings, etc. People usually only notice when a space is NOT clean, meanwhile every time a space is clean it’s only because of the diligent work of janitors, maintenance staff, custodians, parks workers, or volunteers.
If your system doesn't account for the fact that Parents Are Going To Be Abusive/Neglectful/Insufficient then it objectively sucks I'm sorry I don't make the rules
Monitored bank accounts for those under 18. Requiring parental consent for medical procedures. Parental controls on personal devices. "We won't teach this at school because parents are supposed to address it at home." Anything that puts all of the child's power onto the parents' hand, anything that assumes parents are going to inherently do enough of a good job no one else needs to interfer, every single one of these IS going to be used by controlling, neglectful or unprepared parents and already are, and if the system did not account for that very real, tangible, dangerous tendency, then it's not worth fucking anything. You shouldn't make things "for the youth"/with children in mind if you are going to overlook this painfully common aspect of their lives u_u
When those GPS trackers for cars were released, specifically advertised for parents to put in their child's car, I saw the ad on TV and said out loud, "God... I wonder how many abusive parents and spouses are gonna use that to keep their victims from escaping."
My dad was sat next to me and his eyes got big as saucers. He was so quiet when he replied solemnly, "I didn't even think about that... jesus christ, that's dark..." and I had to tell him I had friends who were probably gonna end up in that situation with their conservative parents. He was so removed from the notion of using that device for cruelty that he didn't even CONSIDER it! That's how easily people can be bought in by inventions/legislation advertised under the guise of "keeping the kids safe". My own father, who is a beautiful and gentle man with a good head on his shoulders, was ready to advocate for a tracking device, because it was sold as a device to "protect children".
Children need more protections from abusers, yes, but the biggest protection they could possibly have is AUTONOMY. GIVE CHILDREN AUTONOMY.
"why do men watch porn instead of just having sex with their girlfriends?" is already silly for numerous reasons, but seeing it being used as like. a feminist talking point is so crazy to me because like of the implication that being in a relationship means being available for sex all the time, which you know. doesn't feel great for women i think.

Not when she had tipsily giggled words of adoration and love between kisses, each sentiment enough to make him feel like the air had been knocked right out of him. If he were standing, he might have just fallen to his knees.
⠀ ⠀Lovesick, Luke and Kieran had teased him once, and he couldn't even deny it. Not when they all knew it was true.
⠀ ⠀Sylus sighs, tugging her close (she smells like him, but also like her, and it's a combination that makes him think irresponsible things) and holding her tight and snug against his chest.
⠀ ⠀He'll sleep soon— really, he will. But for now, he figures it wouldn't hurt to spend just one more minute watching her rest contentedly in his arms.

when ukrainian athletes speak against russians being allowed to return to the Olympics (or any ukrainian speaking up against russians returning to places they shouldn't be) there's always a huge crowd of people in the comments saying "oh but they have no problem with the usa/israel being in the Olympics" and "russians aren't their government"
i want to talk specifically about the first comment
this is always so insane to me because it's only said when we speak against our oppressor, it's always a response to us not being okay with seeing people who wish death on us and actively participate in making that happen in spaces designed for celebration
go make your own post about the usa and israel and see if we come in the comments justifying their war crimes because god forbid people going through a genocide are most vocal about their own genocide
this weird need to force people sleeping in shelters every night to speak about things they barely have even time to think about is so strange especially when it comes from westerners who live unbombed lives and can actually advocate for the causes they care about but instead they bitch and moan online because a victim they don't like is speaking up about their own tragedies
like obviously we can all do better and advocate better and so on but it's baffling to me that you'd rather talk shit about a marginalised group to satisfy your ego and "moral superiority" because for a western mind we will never fit into the image of a perfect victim (we fight back, we know how and what we need to do, and we demand so based on the signed documents, and we, rightfully so, act dissatisfied when our allies give us nothing but words of support instead of promised weapons, leaving thousands of our civilians to die in daily russian attacks) and you will never feel like the saviour you want to think of yourself so somehow it becomes a "both sides are bad" when we've said times and times again, russians can just go home
Contender for funniest moments in Naruto: when Danzo tells Kakashi to kill Sarutobi, and Kakashi LITERALLY FUCKING SNITCHES ON HIM DIRECTLY TO SARUTOBI, who it is to be noted is also LITERALLY NINJA PRESIDENT DICTATOR, and Sarutobi just kinda goes "damn that's wild. He's my childhood friend tho. So." and it's just kinda left at that.
