I love asking people how their parents met. You always get an interesting reply. My best friend’s parents met on the relatively new internet in 1999. My other friend’s parents met at Burger King when one was the manager and the other was a regular customer. My parents met at the beach because they were neighbors in their rental houses, mom was on a church trip and dad was getting blackout drunk every night with his friends next door.

So ridiculously upset right now. I’m in my car and get to the drive thru and get to the speaker. No greeting. I wait and wait and can hear someone like they forgot they’re wiring a mic. I tell her I’d like a cheeseburger and I might like a milkshake as well.

I would get down on my hands and knees just to see if someone accidentally dropped some cheese in the dirt and if I found any I would wash it off. I would wipe it off. I would clean that dirty cheese off just for my cheeseburger.

The thing is that "said" is fine there's nothing wrong with using "said" but it CAN be overused and unfortunately the solution is not to use other verbs for speaking, the solution is to restructure your dialogue to avoid having the same sentence structure in every line, and come up with things for your characters to be doing while they speak, which is actually much more difficult.
