They're finally finished. My reels has a video of each so you can hopefully see the glimmer of color change where I used TurboDork and a slightly more accurate version of their colors. For some reason my video seems to capture colors closer than just my camera. Oh well. They're done. They just need weight in the base and a sealant. I kinda wanna name them and write their names on their bases but I have NO idea what to name them. Anyone wanna guess what I'm gonna do next? I have some X-Wing ships, Squigs, Ynnead, and some fantasy and Malifaux minis, space marines, and some other random ones. The colors look more accurate on video than just on camera. Progress on my Harlequins has been slow. I did a couple digital commissions (a beautiful Datsun truck and an F-15) and it's Mermay so I've been working on stuff that's more relevant to my other account. So I figured it's time to show what my SO has been working on. While I much prefer the painting side of minis, he much prefers conversion. First he took a new squad and just painted them. Then when we found all our minis, we stripped his old ones of paint (I put a lot of elbow grease in for him) and he started converting. Other than stripping, my only contribution to these guys is that I sculpted two of the cloaks when I had extra milliput. He's having so much fun with them and even though I think shoulder bags are dumb, he loves the look of these guys. So before Mermay got underway and I decided to do mermaid stuff, I redid a couple potions I did a while ago. Originally I did them in watercolor and this time I did them in marker/colored pencil. I'll have to see if I can find the copy of the watercolor ones. I think potions (and adventuring gear in general) would make for cool stickers but when I scanned them, the texture that looks good on paper looks horrible on screen. So I redrew the first one digitally and have half done the second one digitally. I spent a couple nights working on the hair and there's still more to be done. I think I'm gonna add a little bit of mica powder to the wash to match the sparkle of the Turbodork color shift paint. Did some work on the boots and started the base coat for the metallics. I was originally going to go silver but the copper made such a nice pop that I couldn't resist. I feel like I was rushing these guys initially. I waited so long to start them and it's the first time I've done a squad all together and I've been trying to record so I was rushing. So this paint session I took my time. All I did was the grey's and touch up some of the highlights on the ribbons a little. And I think they've been washed since the last photo, but that was prior to my intentionally slowing down. Yes, I want to be able to be faster and whip stuff out but these Harlequins are my babies! I want them beautiful to MY standards (which are hyper critical of myself!)
