Rules of DIY:
if it's a skill, there's rules you can learn
if it's an art, rules are not your concern
make it fucked up or you won't make it
if it's already broken, you can't break it
anything can be fixed with gorilla glue
except for pleather, and also you
“you take your meds today?”
why? you scared?

What radicalised you?
My countries descent into fascism.
My father who voted against my rights.
The people in my country that repeat history.
And the funny thing is my beliefs aren't radical. I just think everybody deserves respect and equal rights.
Same 😭💔 - sending strength and hope from the US where shit is also real fucking bleak
In regards of the Trump government scraping all trans inclusion in its queer information portion of its websites I have made this thing. Spread the word. Don't let them pretend we never existed.

MICHAEL KEATON as BEETLEJUICE Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) dir. Tim Burton
DBD AU. The sad and lonely Crow King who wants to add Edwin to his collection of shiny things, and Thomas Finch, the annoying boy from the library who keeps taunting Edwin into increasingly heated debates about conspiracy/fringe science theories (Thomas preferring reincarnation to astrology).
Bear with me while I work through this mild hyperfixation.

Okay folks, just want to remind you: The GOP is going to crank up the toxin over the next hundred days, because it doesn't know how to do anything else. This is going to cause a lot of people who were going to vote for them to stop and go "Whoah."
This is not the time to say I told you so. This is not the time to throw the past in their faces. Allow them to become better people.
Yep.
Leave people a way back to the light. No "don't look behind you" bullshit, HADES.
A technically true statement you can offer is, "Yeah, the Republicans used to have some good ideas about supporting business, but lately they've just been... ug."
What do you mean by lately? The last few weeks? Or months? Or years? Or decades? No need to specify.
Also?
Don’t let theory be the enemy of praxis.
I have an aunt. We’ll call her Eloise, which is close enough to her real name. She’s racist. Not in the “I hate Black people” kind of way, but in the way where she was born and has lived her entire life in a podunk town and certain stereotypes and microaggressions are just…baked in. She would tell you she’s not racist, and she really doesn’t realize that some of what she says is just. Not great. (The other day she wanted to tell me all about this Black man in a big Cadillac who saw that she’d forgotten her card so he bought her groceries, and how sweet he was. You’re gonna notice a couple of superfluous details in that story. That’s the kind of thing I’m talking about.)
She’s voting Harris this year. She sat 2020 out after changing her registration from Republican to Democrat. Before that she was lifelong for the GOP.
I didn’t change her mind by yelling at her about racist cops and UBI. I did it with two sentences:
“Yeah, but whether he’s guilty or not, isn’t that for the court to decide, not a cop? G-d….can you imagine that happening to Matt?”
Matt is her son (and that’s also close enough to his real name). He’s got substance abuse issues and he’s in and out of jail.
Two sentences were enough to take George Floyd from “a Black man who was probably high” to “someone’s son.”
And that was enough to make her start asking questions.
And over the years, I’ve thrown in a comment from time to time. Just enough to make her think.
Is she still going to say cringeworthy stuff for the rest of her life? Probably! Would I prefer that she learn better? Yes! Do I consider it a win that she’s come this far? Also yes! Do I consider it a win that she’s respected in her church and has now taken this concept of “why are the police assuming guilty until proven innocent” into a place I could never hope to reach? FUCK yes! Do I think that given the choice between “uses microaggressions and votes in a way that will help produce Black-positive policy” and “used microaggressions and votes in a way that criminalizes breathing while Black” most Black people would prefer she’s the former? At the risk of putting words into the mouths of a community I’m not in…YES. An imperfect ally is better than an enemy.
Will she ever be as far left as me? Almost certainly not! Do I think I have room to get her to support more policies I like, like green energy and UBI? Yes! Will I be trying for that? Yes! Is it going to be quick? Probably not! Is it worth it?
YES.
Because you don’t move a hundred miles left by saying “let’s let everyone move three hundred miles right, that’ll teach them.” Now you just have to move 400 miles.
Praxis. Over. Theory.
