quick intro as i settle back into this space;

hello! my name is avril rayne or you can call me by either name! i'm 19 and very very new to hellenic polytheism - i've only started my beginning research/worship as of last year. i am absolutely open to being corrected or taught in response to anything i post but please be respectful. as of right now, i focus on/worship Selene, Apollo, Artemis and Hypnos but of course respect and look up to all the Gods.

hi tumblr haven't been here in a minute but just wanted to share some recent things :3

i've been pretty detached from religion atm i'll be honest i never got into a routine of worship but i want to dive back in bcus i still do follow helpol.. might lurk on here again for some ideas

the main reason i'm making this post today is bcus i noticed smth when i woke up this morning,

my playlist dedicated to hypnos was playing - which i do not remember selecting last night. i remember using spotify but i remember choosing a different playlist bcus i was going to read but fell asleep before i could. then i woke up to Lord Hypnos' playlist. i found it very soothing, like a gentle reassurance that despite my inactivity, perhaps he knew i was still there and still cared. !!

my mom says she’s not a hugger. but when i put my arms around her on a gloomy day or after bad news she’s the last to let go. my dad says he doesn’t want gifts on his birthday, but i see the way his face light up when i get him a card with a nice message and a box full of chocolate anyway. he’s just a kid inside, still. it makes him giddy. my brother never says i love you. but when i tell him “i just need to finish the dishes before i vacuum!” he wordlessly goes to vacuum the entire house before i can, and if he sees me struggle with a wrapper or a jar or a bottle he mutters ‘c’mere’ and opens it for me without even sparing me a glance. the thing is, people love you quietly, and you love them quietly, and the air is buzzing with tiny but grand gestures & once you look for them, you find them everywhere. i think that’s really beautiful.

Reminder 1: Worshipper and devotee are synonymous in English, and don't let anyone else dictate what you prefer to call yourself.

If you want to call yourself a devotee, then do that. If you prefer worshipper, then that's all you. It doesn't matter how formal or casual your relationship with the Gods is. You can be one, both, or neither.

Reminder 2: Sometimes, in the Hellenistic Polytheist community, you'll see worshipper and devotee used non-synonymously, where being a devotee means you've made an oath with a God and being a worshipper implies that your relationship is more casual. And that's okay, too. You can choose your definition and how you'd like to identify yourself.

Reminder 3: If you don't know what to call yourself, ask that specific God. They'll help you define your relationship better than some random from tumblr.com.

I've seen a lot of misconceptions regarding Lord Hades. I've seen videos of people saying that Hades is intimidating, cruel, and unkind because he is the God of the underworld. Nay, he is a kind god. He's not cruel, he will not be intimidating and curse you, and he will not mistreat you.

It's saddening to see that people believe he is cruel and intimidating due to him being the god of death. He can be just as kind and gentle. Treat him with respect.

I’m the weirdest kind of extremely online because I would be severely offline if it wasn’t for tumblr. you genuinely can’t reach me anywhere else other than tumblr I simply don’t use other social media. I don’t even like texting or calling people. I only like hanging out with people irl and being on tumblr and reading the weather forecast

it's like the opposite of this for me. i am far more chronically online than i should be, but tumblr is the one form of social media i'm on that doesn't feel damaging. i think its due to how i use the space but it's so much more calming here fr and i truly curate everything i see. i'll catch myself being confused why i'm not seeing as much new or unrelated content on here and then i realize oh yeah this isn't a cesspool instagram or facebook!

needing some confidence and mental strength for my job search. i'm employed but looking for something new and my mind has created such a block for me. i pray to Lady Artemis this day to give me the strength i need in my independence and confidence. my anxiety causes a lot of stress and mental blockage against going after the things i want, and reaching out to places or people with questions. i know i make my myself feel weaker and smaller than i am. i am Strong. and my happiness and comfort is worth the time. i am not a burden. ever.
