Fanfic writers, reblog if you’re okay with people sharing the links to your fics to their friends and/or for fic rec posts without having to ask for your permission first

(I saw a debate about whether or not it was okay for people to share fic links around without asking the authors first, since some authors may not be comfortable with the links to their fics being shared around on twitter or tumblr. so I thought this post could be a blanket permission for authors who were okay with the links to their fics being shared around!)

If the thought of someone posting a link to your fic that you posted on a public website and saying 'this is so good, everyone should read it' makes you scared, you are NOT emotionally ready to be posting your work online. And that's okay! But don't make it everyone else's problem. Sharing links to fics in a positive way is the norm and we are not changing that

After a few minutes the monster’s tears changed to laughter. You look up, even more horrified now, surly it was playing a trick on you and now planned to end your life.

The creature set you down when it could no longer stay upright thanks to its laughter.

“You should see your face!! I’m so sorry but it’s-” more laughter broke the abomination’s speech and it hurriedly waved what you assumed was a hand in a “come here” motion, another creature emerged from the dark, making a noise you couldn’t fully comprehend but you assumed it was probably laughter. your face flushed as you realized the two primordial beings had been playing a prank on you.

Something no one talks about is being totally enraptured by a character but not being able to read reader insert fanfics for them because you love their canon ship so much you can’t remove them from it, Even if it’s for your own benefit. So you end up just suffering.

En Dashes ( – ) are shorter than em dashes. They indicate a range and could usually be replaced with "from" and "to": ✓ I lived in New York 2015–2020. ⭤ I lived in New York from 2015 to 2020. But: ✗ I lived in New York from 2015–2020.

Em Dashes ( — ) are longest. Fun Fact: en dashes received their name because the dash is the length of the letter N, while the em dash is the length of the letter M.

Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.

I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.

Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.
