Lestat doesn't build cages to torture what he catches, he builds them because he's terrified that if he steps back for one second, the room will be empty.
If Lestat's goal had been control, he lost. If his goal was to solidify himself so deeply into Louis's soul that not even seven decades, a ghost, or Armand could erase it…he won entirely without knowing he did.
He survived his youth, his upbringing, the wolves, abuse, his horrific creation, the coffin, the ground. He survived heartbreak, the depths of guilt, grief, self-loathing and despair and the trial. He suffered his own forms of self-sabotage, ridicule, wounds and shame.
And in the end, after all the blood, devastation and ruined decades, the pull remained intact. Lestat didn't build a coven, he built an anchor from the truest parts of himself to Louis. Love will always lie beneath as the driving factor.
Everything monstrous he does is built on this foundation. The possessiveness, the grand gestures, the toxic control, the theatrical outbursts-they aren't the moves of a warlord trying to build an empire.
They are the desperate, flailing actions of someone who was starved of affection in a cold countryside and left alone in the dark only to be revived by Louis, his unique eternal flame. He fears smothering that flame and driving it away more than anything.
By standard narrative logic, he may have failed to some, but Lestat was never playing for power, status, or a coven's Loyalty. Lestat's only ambition in this life and the next has ever been simple:
To love and be loved without vanishing.
There is no word currently in existence powerful enough to encompass Sam Reid’s virtuosity in conveyance. I’m not sure there ever will be.

I just want to remind people that it’s 2024 and we didn’t “go thru a pandemic” we are “going thru a pandemic” present tense. It is still happening. People are still get sick, still becoming disabled, and still dying. Covid hasn’t gone away and I beg people to not normalize getting sick with it.
Unfortunately this still hold true in 2026
but that the season wasn't subtle at all with how it was centered around lestat having been sexually abused by his mother for over two centuries—abuse which started before they were ever even vampires—and that the finale culminates in lestat finally starting to come to terms with that knowledge to the point of standing up to gabriella and rejecting her from his life yet people keep going on about how "nothing happened this season" and "lestat didn't suffer at all" or at least "not enough" (in a season where lestat was sexually and/or physically assaulted every episode) and "there were too many 'sex' scenes between gabriella and lestat" (re: scenes of gabriella sexually assaulting lestat) and "there was too much focus on them" (in a season about how much gabriella sexually abusing lestat has affected him.)
Also, it’s literally HIS SEASON. His name is in the title. It’s hilarious to me that some people are complaining that there’s too much Lestat,
ON THE LESTAT SHOW.
Sucks being a Nickistat & Loumuel stan when s3 just wants to shove Loustat and DM down your throat

in context complaints about the lack of on-screen devil's minion this season are really funny. why didn't lestat take time out of his narrative to speculate on what 2 people he hates were doing.
how to do things that everyone else seems to do no problem
I love my job, but reblogging employment jelly for someone else I love.
