The last part🤧, happy reading lovelies 🫶🏼
“Hey Tes, you should totally come sit with us, y/n has finally agreed to sit with me and the girls” Regina almost brags, a massive grin plaster across her pretty face.
Ignoring all of my surroundings i stare down at my full plate of food, i feel everyone’s eyes on me and i don’t like it. I use the small plastic fork to push a piece of food around the plate, wishing the world would swallow me whole. I feel a hand on my shoulder and look up to see Regina with a reassuring expression. “you okay y/n/n?” She asks in a low voice obviously trying to avoid bringing any attention to the fact that she is being nice to someone. I flash her a small smile and nod praying she lets it go. Which thankfully she does. Well she was distracted i should say. I look in the direction of her glare. Janis and Damien are glaring right back at her. And as if on que in walks bea, she sits down at their table, trying her hardest to get Janis’ attention, a smirk plastered across her face. I look back at my plate. My head once again shoots up when i hear the clatter of a lunch tray hitting the floor, i sigh upon seeing that Karen had dropped her lunch, Regina looks at the girl as if she was internally face palming, Gretchen had yet to grace us with her bubbly presence, and Karen, she is stood in front of the table looking like a deer caught in the headlights of a car being drove by Regina. I quickly push my tray across the table and gesture for Karen to take it. She stands there for a few more seconds, confusion evident in her expression. “Have mine, I don’t want you waiting in that lunch line again” I chuckle before wiping my sweaty hands on my jeans and standing up. “Hey imma just go to the bathroom okay? I’ll be right back” I say looking at Regina who simply nods, still glaring at Janis.
I rush to the bathrooms, not even a second after I enter, in comes Tessa. “Okay I can’t take this anymore, Janis didn’t- BANG” she starts but is interrupted by a loud crashing noise from outside the bathrooms. We both stay still looking at each other, our fight or flight response having not kicked in yet. That was until we heard shouting, both of us run to the door, her beating me to it and opening it for us both to look and see what caused the sound. Next thing I see is a flash of blonde hair run past me, I look on the ground to see a navy blue backpack, with pins and a cross stitch circle on it, I roll my eyes and pick it up knowing exactly who’s it is. “Cmon that was Janis and Regina, I don’t like this, whatever that was. was not good news” Tessa says while grabbing my arm and running in the direction of where the blonde ran.
We end up outside under the bleachers, a few students circled around to watch the chaos too.
“Why the fuck do you keep messing with my life Regina? Just leave me alone for once in your sorry life” Janis nearly screams while she steps forward to be right up in the blondes face.
“I didn’t do anything loser” Regina laughs back in Janis’ face, which only angers the smaller girl more.
“Well I didn’t cheat or use y/n and you know it” she continues to shout at the blonde girl
“Well suck it up because she’s mine now, she hates you” Regina pauses to laugh once again, this is also when Janis had noticed your presence within the circle of teenagers who are observing their little argument. “And all it took to break her was some silly little lie but now I have her all to myself” Regina finished before turning to look what Janis was starring at, her face goes pale and she opens her mouth to speak but I move faster, my legs taking me away from the scene, dropping Janis’ backpack from my shoulder somewhere on the way.
I end up in a janitor’s closet, the bell had already rung so there was barely anyone in the halls, allowing me to swiftly slip into the room. My legs buckle, I brace myself for the cold surface of the floor but I am instead surrounded by the heat of someone’s presence, I didn’t even hear the door open again, through clouded vision I look up to see the green haired girl I’ve been so desperately trying to avoid the past few days. “Let me go” I choke out a sob, which only makes her grip on me grow stronger, she pulls me up a little so she has me in her full embrace, one of her arms around my waist, the other cradles the back of my neck. She tangles her fingers in my hair, the coldness of her rings inviting me in, she continues to hold me, slowly pulling us both onto the floor so we can sit more comfortably.
This isn’t the girl I knew, the girl who was in a band, the girl who had everything together. Well that’s how she seemed to me. Now she’s in my arms sobbing. Tessa warned me not to break her heart, and even though I didn’t do anything, I feel like im in the wrong. So I do the only thing I can to save her from me hurting her again.
“I’m sorry” she says while letting me go out of her hold. I look up, tear stained eyes, my eyeliner probably streaked down my face by now. She gets up, dusting her jeans off before turning towards the door, she doesn’t even hesitate before opening the door and leaving. I stay sat on the floor for what seems like forever. I pull my knees up to my chest and put my head down, closing my eyes.
The door slams open and I hear the squeaks of multiple peoples shoes before I am shook by the shoulders, I slowly look up hoping it is the green haired girl I have grown to rely on in these situations. But no. My eyes focus on the people’s faces. Tessa is kneeled in front of me, Aaron stood behind her and Damien stood in the doorway. Damien quickly shuts the door seeing the state im in and flicks on the small light. Aaron just stares at me and Tessa sighs. “Cmon we are ditching” she states knowing better than to ask questions right now.
We all get out of the janitors closet and walk towards Tessa’s pink jeep. Tessa and Aaron in the front, me and Damien in the back. I press myself right into the corner of the car, not wanting or needing anyone to touch or come near me. Damien keeps staring at me as if at any second I will disappear, Tessa makes quick work of driving while Aaron plays with the radio, he whispers something to Tessa, she whipsers something back and they argue in a hushed tone for a few minutes before Tessa agrees to whatever he was saying and turns to go a different way. I stare out of the window, not exactly taking notice of where we are going, just thinking about everything that has happened this school year and praying it ends soon.
After ten minutes of sitting in silence, the only sound being from the radio, the car stops, I look around to where we are, my heart skips a beat when I realise we are at the beach me, Aaron and Tessa grew up going to nearly every day. I look up to see Tessa looking back at me, Aaron and Damien get out of the car but she sits there staring at me. “What happened in the janitors closet?” Her ocean blue eyes staring into my own, perfect blonde hair shining as the rays of sun hit her through the windows of the car.
If you had told me five years ago this is where we would be I would’ve laughed in anyone’s face and told them to fuck off. Yet here we are. Broken and Damaged.
If you had told me five days ago I would’ve been heart broken by Janis ‘Imi’ike I would’ve said “she would never, anyone but her would but she would never” yet here I am. Broken and Damaged.
“Y/n, listen, Janis really likes you, she just feels like she’s to blame. Regina is a bitch for doing that to the both of you. And in result of that you and Janis lost each other. But trust me when I say. It will all work out.” Tessa says now stood in front of me, her hand held out for me to take, the car door open, I willingly take her hand and walk with her to the beach, Aaron and Damien following. We eventually all split off to do our own thing, Damien is on the phone to who I am assuming is Janis. Aaron and Tessa are in the sea making the most of the weather while I sit watching them, I know they both like each other. I’ve known for years, probably before they knew it themselves. Aaron has always stood up for Tessa and Tessa has always been there to pick Aaron back up when he falls. And if that’s how it will be for the rest of eternity, then im more than okay with them. Nothing can break them up. They are Aaron and Tessa.
I pull out my phone and see multiple missed calls and texts from a multitude of people at school. Regina. Bea. Gretchen, Karen, Cady and Janis being those people. I turn my phone on silent and grab my headphones from my bag and play music before turning my phone off and putting it back into my hoodie pocket.
The whole car ride my phone rings off the hook, but I couldn’t care. Y/n is sat next to me looking like she had been hit by a bus. She looks a mess. Eyeliner somehow still in tact but she looks empty, her gaze set on the outside world. I notice she does that a lot these days. Just blankly stare at things, lost in her own head. Aaron and Tessa are trying to talk to her but she isn’t paying them any mind.
Once at the beach she just goes off away from everyone and sits down, throwing her backpack down before grabbing her phone and headphones out of her bag. That’s when I notice my phone is once again ringing. The ringtone being the one I set specifically for Janis. I pull my phone out of my pocket torn between my two best friends. Janis hurt y/n but there has to be a reason behind it. So I do what I have to and answer the phone.
“Daims I fucked up big time, please go check on y/n, I left her in the janitors closet and I don’t think she’s in the right headspace to be alone” she says with a hint of regret in her voice. I can tell that she is pacing around even through the phone.
“Okay no, Janis the girl is absolutely broken right now, you best explain and have a goddam good excuse for this. I know the whole Regina thing wasn’t you, but what the fuck?” I almost shout, only quieting down because y/n is sitting not even a few feet away from me.
“I’ve watched her since we where kids, I’ve seen her happiest moments from afar but never had the courage to go up to her, now that I have she’s been the saddest I’ve seen her. And I feel like it’s on me, I never wanted her like this. I wanted to make her happy” she starts
“Shut the fuck up and come to the beach, tell her yourself. But don’t blame me or anyone else if she doesn’t want to hear it” I say still angry at my best friend. I look over to y/n who is still spaced out, music blaring from her headphones.
“Fine im nearly there anyway, was going home but I’ll turn around. Cady is driving us”and with that the phone call ends.
Not even a few minutes later Cadys car pulls up next to Tessa’s. I watch as Janis gets out. I look over to see y/n layed on a beach towel from Tessa’s car that we brought out, her eyes closed and an angry Tessa storming over, Aaron following.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Aaron surprisingly says before Tessa can, his face confused and angered. “I came to talk to her” Janis tries to walk past the taller boy. He steps in front of her before she can “wait Janis don’t we need to talk first” Tessa then buts in, grabbing Janis’ arm, taking her back to her car. They both come back a few minutes later and Tessa nods to Aaron to let the two girls talk it out.
I sit up and open my eyes, the sun blinding me, making me wipe my face for what seems like the thousandth time in the past hour. I pull my phone out and change the song just as someone taps my shoulder. “Don’t touch me right now Tessa I swear to fuck I will dunk you in the sea” I say flinching away from the person who only moves to stand in front of me. There stands Janis, her face full of shame. She sits in front of me so I take my headphones off and stare blankly at her. She goes to speak but stops herself so I take that opportunity to talk for her “if your only here to ‘comfort’ me then leave again then save your time and fuck off” I put y headphones back on but she leans forward and takes them off of my head before I can react. “The fuck?” I say in shock. “Middle school” she says as if I should know what that means. I continue to just stare at her, pissed off. “I’ve had a crush on you since middle school. I used to watch you every class we had together. Then in high school when you started the band. I would listen to every song. I went to your first show. I forced Damien to go to that show that night. Your last show. When Bea cheated on you I was so pissed because ever since I’ve known you I’ve seen you to be this happy person. But then these past few months you’ve lost your smile. And I blame myself for that.” She blurts out in one breath.
It takes me a second to process what she said but once my brain catches up i sit there shocked. “I’ve hurt people in the past, I’ve had the hardest time falling in love with things, but falling in love with you has been one of the easiest things I’ve done, but seeing you like this” she gestures to me “has been the hardest thing I’ve done because I know I’ve played a part in the way you’ve lost your smile. I don’t expect you to forgive me but im here to ask you to give me a second chance to fix this and bring back your smile” she finishes with teary eyes. I look back at her already crying, all I can manage to do is nod and choke out another sob as she leans forward to hug me.
