kinda!! its a little weird tbh. (credentials: i am from mississippi)

so from what i've seen americans outside the south view the entirety of florida as “the south” due to it obviously being one of the most southern states placement wise. BUUUUUT people in The South only rlly claim PARTS of florida. mostly, funnily enough, the northern part of florida!!

the further south into florida you get the more touristy and tropical beachy it will become, kind of making it feel like california but close by. meanwhile the northern part of florida is much more in line with the climate and culture of the rest of the south as a whole

it’s still part of the south in a sense, it just becomes SO distinct culturally that it really becomes its own thing with its own subregions within!

this picture is honestly super accurate from my experience

tldr: north florida, especially northwest florida, yes! rest of florida not so much, and anything south of like orlando is entirely its own beast.
