yk I don't get how some people think makeup doesn't make a difference or is stupid or looks stupid.

over the summer I hardly wore makeup because I worked at a summer camp as a life guard. no amount of waterproof makeup can stand up to the chlorin and me rubbing my eyes to get the water off them.

but one week I got put on a different job and didn't have to be in the pool every day and the first day of that job I just put some mascara on. no other makeup at all.

and my bf was literally tripping the whole day and kept saying how cute I looked. that evening he was like "I literally don't understand. what happened. you look so adorable and vulnerable and I just have such a strong urge to protect you. like is it smth to do with ur eyes? idk ur eyes seem different"

and anyway that's the power of a single coat of mascara

you don't have to deserve that ice cream in the fridge to have it. you don't have to save that expensive candle for a special occasion. eat the ice cream. burn the candle on a rainy day. wear your favorite outfit to sit at home all day. drink the fancy tea in your cabinet.

small joys often mean more on the mundane days anyway.
