Stars enjoyer, music addict, beautiful dead man who will tell you nothing but the truth ♡ 🐟// This is a RP account! Header was animated by @thedreamflarealchemist :3 \\
I'm only joining on the fun now because of... Reasons that make sense. So let's start with the introductions alright?
Name: Atlantis Found (you are allowed one remark about it per person. Because I know you munchkins can't help yourselves.)
Pronouns: Let's stick with he/him, m'kay?
Sexuality: Now why would you want to know that, darling?
Age: 19
Height: 158cm (around 5'2'')
Date of birth: 20 september 1970
Date of death: Somewhere around October '89, most likely
Room number: 451
Spectre: If I knew, I'd tell you
Personnality: If you catch me on my good days, I can be a very calm and soothing person. I'm pretty silent but I notice a lot of small details and am a good listener. Normally I have a lot of self-control. However, on my bad days I can also be reckless, annoying, anxious and broody.
Additional info:
My first language is French, forgive me if I slip up or if my English is imperfect. I tend to try not to go French Mode most of the time because nobody understands anyway, but accidents happen. I also swear in French a lot because that was the easiest way to get away with it back in college. americans can't censor something they don't understand
I give a lot of petnames and nicknames! Do tell me if it makes you uncomfortable and I'll stop! Unless my goal is to be a little bitch :)
If you ever saw me in the hallways and I looked pissed off for no reason, there's high chances that I wasn't annoyed at all. I just look like that on a daily basis.
That's it! If you're still hungry for data about your favourite boy, you can search up the tag #about me
🐟// Hello, mod here! My main blog is @atlantis-just-drowned. Yes I use the same name everywhere on the internet.
This OC is partly a self insert, so if something seems cringier than the rest, it's probably because it's a real-life me-thing. I would also like to point out that this is my first time doing RP, so please be nice!
No fast pass spoilers!! Let everyone enjoy the comic at their own pace!
I'm an adult. I'm also a dumbass. So of course I ended up caving in and writing NSFW. Anyways the tags I'll use will be #+18 for anything that isn't minor appropriate, and #suggestive and/or #explicit for.... Yeah, you guessed it. Block those tags if you don't want to see their associated content.
Otherwise, angst and fluff are both very much welcome. And yes, being mean to the character is allowed, spill your rage and have fun.
To give a little more insight on this character (because that little bitch is a filthy liar): their actual pronouns are he/they, but he prefers not to let anyone know about it. Atlantis grew up in an environment where lying was a necessity to survive, and it became a (bad) habit. They're gay and transmasc, but no one in the academy is aware that he isn't a cishet man. Or well, one person was (his roommate), but he "died" in the maze. Atlantis hasn't been present until then because he was too busy wallowing in their grief and guilt alone in their room.
Check #additional info if you want more ooc crumbs on them!
In character interactions will be tagged as #roleplay, and #complete once the interaction is... Complete??
Ref sheet for the silly here
Backstory crumbs revealed so far:
> He had a little brother called Adrien
> Their mother was extremely controlling and critical of him
> She forced him into learning how to play the piano, he absolutely hates it
> He made friends with a metalhead guy after moving to America for college
"I'm looking respectfully" well can you look at me like you're dying of a fever. like you're delirious and it hurts. like you're fighting desperately for your life.
'Revenge is bad' to YOU. i love when a character destroys everyone who wronged them. i love when they get to bite and maim and tear and rip and scratch and kill. Sorry ur catholic about it but i'm different
you know dad, i could be the son you wanted so badly before i was born. the one that isn’t so shy and not a sissy as i am now. but you didn’t want it. i could become the confident man you wanted me to be if you had just let me. but now i’m stuck trying to fit your image of a perfect daugther and i’m never enough.
I talk to many people who say things like "oh I have trauma but I don't have PTSD", but then when I talk to them a little more I realize that they most likely do, they just can't recognize it as such due to how lacking PTSD awareness is, even beyond the whole "it's not just a veteran's disorder" thing.
The main reason they think they don't have PTSD usually has to do with flashbacks and nightmares, either they have one but not the other or have neither. But here's the thing, those are only two symptoms out of the 23-odd recognized symptoms. Flashbacks and nightmares are two of the five symptoms under Criterion B (Intrusion), which you only need one of for a diagnosis. The other three symptoms are unwanted upsetting memories, emotional distress after being reminded of trauma and physical reactivity after being reminded of trauma (i.e. shaking, sweating, heart racing, feeling sick, nauseous or faint, etc). Therefore you can have both flashbacks and nightmares, one but not the other, or neither and still have PTSD.
In fact, a lot of the reasons people give me for why they don't think they have PTSD are literally a part of the diagnostic criteria.
"Oh, I can barely remember most parts of my trauma anyway." Criterion D (Negative Alterations in Cognition and Mood) includes inability to recall key features of the trauma.
"Oh but I don't get upset about my trauma that often because I avoid thinking of it or being around things that remind me of it most of the time." Criterion C (Avoidance) includes avoiding trauma-related thoughts or feelings and avoiding trauma-related external reminders, and you literally cannot get diagnosed if you don't have at least one of those two symptoms.
"Oh I just have trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep, but I don't have nightmares." Criterion E (Alterations in Arousal and Reactivity) includes difficulting sleeping outside of nightmares.
"But I didn't have many/any trauma symptoms until a long time after the trauma happened." There's literally an entire specification for that.
Really it just shows how despite being one of the most well-known mental illnesses, people really don't know much about PTSD. If you have trauma, I ask you to at least look at the criteria before you decide you don't have PTSD. Hell, even if you don't have trauma, look at the criteria anyway because there are so many symptoms in there that just are not talked about.
PTSD awareness is not just about flashbacks and nightmares.
