Fleamont, Euphemia and James Potter. Family Portrait.Â

âwhy does everyone think that joke is funny?â
âwell now, thatâs awfully nice of you potter.â
âBecause it is, flower. The only one who does not think it is is you. Sometimes I wonder who taught you the definition of funny. Next time we see each other remember me to bring a dictionary.â
âIt is, isnât it? That is because I am an awfully nice person. C'me on, let's go find this cat. Where did you last see it?
âbecause iâm not easily bribed. i have standards ââ
âwhat kind of damage are we talking?â
â0% hurtful, 100% funny. On the damage rating scale, it would classify as a 6Â â hence totally harmless. I cannot say more until you agree. You know, standardsââ
âEuphemia and Fleamont Potter tried and failed for many years to bring a child into the world before baby James came along. They were much older, and wealthy, so James grew up in a doting environment without the compromise of siblings, in a home without material limits.â (From Pottermore)

Dueling club meetings had always been something he had eagerly looked for, his excitement growing over the years as his spells knowledge increased. They always gave him and Sirius new ways to have fun, whether it was between themselves or at the expense of others. Moreover, it gave him also a legit way to direct his anger towards something (someone), and to let it free.Â
This meeting would be no different, he promised himself. It didnât matter that he did not really want to go just to avoid a particular someone â he was not a coward. He could face his consequences. Plus, there were plenty of people in that room, he had avoided her for years â surely he could stand one meeting.
â...McKinnon and... Potter. Yes, Marlene, James, come over here, letâs see what you remember from last year.â
His heart skipped a beat. His brain quickly counted all the possibilities that there was another James Potter in the school: none. Chances to fake a flu or some other kind of disease? Few â yet he didnât want to try that. As hopeless as his heart was, it knew the chances of an improvement in their relationship were less than zero, and escaping would just sink the percentage ever more. In the end, his guilt was what moved his feet towards the platform: if she hexed him, maybe some of it would go away.
He still didnât raise his eyes.
dorcasâ patience was long gone- she told herself she will wait, she wonât do anything for marleneâs sake but when she just saw james standing there, she got so rilled up- she just stood up and walked after him. â aye, potter! i think we both know we need to talk, donât we?â she might have been small in height, but dorcasâ presence- especially when she was angry, was devious as she could hurt everybody in any single way possible.
@audaxcervus
He had just realized he forgot something in the dorm when he heard someone calling him â Dorcas. It took him no time to realize why she was there, screaming. His heart skipped a beat â before his mind came to senses. Yes, Marlene probably did mention their conversation (if one could call it so), but no, most likely no good things had been said about him. He deserved it, he guessed. Whatever the girl had told the brunette, there was no reason for Dorcas to speak to him â was there? âDo we?âÂ
He didnât want to be rude, yet there was nothing to be said. It wasnât her he wanted to talk with. Then, an opening â being an asshole with both one female and her best friend would have been nuts. Whatever he said to Dorcas would probably also arrive to Marlene. âI mean, we do, but you seem more in a fighting mood than a talking mood â would you like to hex me first and then talk?â
â Nice one, James!â

âDamn, not this again...â He had stayed longer on the pitch after practice, so long he had not noticed the dark clouds approaching. A storm came without warning, taking him by surprise. The moment before he was on the broom, the moment after he was on the floor â covered in dirt and blood. He just hoped nothing got broken during the fall. He would have hated to skip matches because of his stupidity.
His leg hurt, thus getting to the Healerâs Wing had been a struggle, but he had managed. He opened the door as quiet as he could. He just hoped nobody was there â all he needed was some pain meds to allow him sleeping that night. He would have dealt with the problem the day after.Â

âIf youâre not here to admire me fly then kindly get off my pitch.âÂ
His idea was to warm up a bit before Gryffindorâs practice tomorrow â it had been too long since the last time he was on a broom. Thus a bit of practice was in order. Plus, that had many bonuses: flying relaxed him, it made him feel free. Up in the air, his only problems were to not get hit and to win.Â
His thoughts were interrupted by a pitching voice â Lucinda. He immediately not having checked if the pitch was free. âLast time I checked, this was not your kingdom. And I not at your service.â

james potter. friend of remus lupin but hardly someone she found to be worth her time. maybe years prior she would have attempted to get close to dig into him but not now. now, he was hardly a blip on her radar. however, that blip came to her this time, so she would indulge it, picking up the last few books. âthat would be lovely. thank you, james.â
He knew who she was â didnât everyone? â but he didnât recall any time he had actually spoken to her. She was one of the millions people who he had seen hang out with Remus once of twice â when he still used to keep track of who did and who did not. He was too jealous of his friendâs charm at the time, and decided stalking was not the answer to it.Â
âWhere do you have to go?â His class could wait. It would not be the first time he skipped Herbology. âItâs quite a pile you have here â isnât it too early in the season for Poe? I thought it was best to enjoy him on Halloween.â

Declan let out a small, amused chuckle at Jamesâs words. The Gryffindor boy might of been right about the whole âhealerâs thingâ going to his head, but Declan could only see that as being a good thing⌠at least it was better then being brainwashed to believe that Voldemort was the right side of the war to fight on.
âI could say something similar about you to Jamesâ Declan replied with a smile. The boy seemed to think that the only time he could talk to Declan was when he needed to be patched up without any questions asked⌠although there was always questions asked when it came to Declan.
âIâm a little surprised youâre not partying it up though⌠thought that was kinda your thing?â
It was his thing, partying â to be as messed up as life allowed. To drink your thoughts off until there was nothing but dizziness and joy. But any good party person knows that there is no good party without alcohol and a good friend to share it with.Â
âThatâs exactly why I am here: to recruit you in this party. I figured you would be hiding trying to fix everyone, and not enjoying true life.â It was not, as it could be easily read on his face, yet he half hoped Declan would buy it. It would have been so easy to just let his mind drift off it â the sorrow, the anger âif only for one night.Â

âwait â why are you so excited? tell me that youâre not trying to add on to the chaos ââ
âwho, me? as if i would ever. why are you the only girl who focuses on facts rather than on chocolate?â
âyet, if you were still wondering... you could come with me.â
âI was wondering, have you seen my cat Huck around? I know he gets his sense of adventure from me, but heâs usually not gone this long.âÂ
âThe one with a fur, tail, eyes?â
âNo, I have not seen him â but I could join the search, if youâd like.â
âi would avoid that corridor if i were you â peeves is at it again, iâm pretty sure i even saw filch running for coverââ
âare you sure? that would leave the lower corridor free, uh... em, i might owe you chocolate. or whatever your heart desires.â
