Are cons just consumerism?
Just been to my first con in 3 years and I have changed my mind on what's going on.
Most of the space on the con was for stands where you could buy things. Sometimes from small artists, most times from big(ish) companies (or at least that's how it seemed to me). There were some cosplay meet ups organised by people attending the con, and there were things like a dance floor, but I don't know any of the choreographies and the fandom I was cosplaying from didn't have a meet up.
What do you usually do on a con other than buy things? Is that all there is to it? There has to be more to it, right?
