anyways here’s sokka and zuko’s first unchaperoned outing together. i imagine sokka was super sheltered growing up and he’s sick and tired of everyone mother hen-ing him

She-Ra really looked at the Love Saves the Day trope and said "let's just make the perfect example of that." Sea Hawk gets through to Mermista through romantic love, Bow gets through to Scorpia with platonic love, Glimmer gets through to Micah with familial love. Not to mention how the Heart of Etheria symbolizes Catra and Adora's love for each other and it was fully embracing it instead of fighting it that they were able to save the universe. This show celebrates and appreciates all love, and I love that.

Okay but like an ATLA soulmate AU where you have a mark on the back of your hand that marks which nation your soulmate is from and when you meet them and touch the respective hands together they glow.

Sokka with a firenation symbol hates his and scratches it off or some sort of way the makes it impossible to see

Katara with an air nomad mark that glows when she meets Aang

Suki with a mark on both hands both from fire, glowing with Mai and Ty Lee when they meet up after the war.

Zuko having a mark of water, but only seeing it for a short while before Ozai fckn BURNS it off.

Zuko cries to his mother that night and she reassures him of something. "When you meet your soulmate your wound will heal and it will reveal your water tribe mate"

When he questioned her she revealed that her mark had been badly wounded before she met his father but when they held hands the wound was healed.

Fast forward to Ember island and Zuko asks katara a favor, he asks her to hold his hand. When nothing happens he tells her the story to which she growls out "oh I swear to gods if this works... come with me" And straught up drags him to Sokka yelling "Sokka give me your soul hand!"

He argues that he gave up on the soulmate thing with "come on Katara we've been over this its been scraped off for years"

But she grabs it and just smacks their hands together and the marks glow and heal. And they both just stare at their hands dumbfounded "you?! It was you the whole time!?"

Regarding the rumors I will deny into my dying breath— a scenario to consider: not everyone is happy with the Fire Nation going ‘oops, my bad, let’s stop here’. Plenty of people like Jet still that want Revenge above all. Directly attacking the Firelord when he’s at the center of a dangerous nation, surrounded by Kyoshi warriors? Not in their power. Attacking his Ambassador on the other hand. Well. That could go many ways.

(cont’d) So anyway Sokka, visiting the North or some Earth village, realizes very soon that he was surrounded by hostile people who only pretended to be friendly. Isolating him. Sokka running and making it safely back home? Not likely. So he pulls a spy move and fakes his death before they could arrange an accident for him. Dresses himself as a Kyoshi and delivers the ‘news of Sokka’s death’ to everyone, very gleefully. Then stays with the group to root out the rebellious leaders.

So that’s how Sokka ‘died.’ He just assumed another role. He’ll come home eventually. Just gotta deal with angry mobs first. (3/3)

anon, you are galaxy braining. god i need a fic PRONTO exploring zuko’s absolute angst over sokka’s death (maybe he and sokka have been dancing around each other for a long time and he was finally going to tell sokka about his feelings, or maybe they’ve been in a relationship for a while on the down low, or maybe they’re MARRIED), and sokka’s world adventures as a kyoshi warrior. he knows that everyone must be worried about him, but he needs to make sure that it’s safe before he returns home to zuko.

he’ll have caught wind of an assassination plot on the fire lord’s life, and that’s why he joins the rebellion: to thwart the plot from the inside. he’ll rise in rank, meet the mastermind, and when they raid the palace, sokka will be the one gunning for the fire lord.

maybe they fight before sokka gets a chance to reveal himself, tell zuko, hey, it’s me, and zuko is fighting dirty because these people killed sokka and now they have the audacity to threaten him in his own palace? but hey, that fighting style is kind of familiar, and he’s blocking all of zuko’s firebending like he’s been taught how to do it, and then sokka is talking and zuko is breaking down because he thought he’d forgotten what sokka’s voice sounded like but no, sokka is alive and well and right in front of him and what the hell is going on?

between him and zuko, the fire nation guard, and the rest of the gaang, the rebellion doesn’t stand a chance. and at the end of it all, sokka has a lot of explaining to do. but most of all, zuko is just so unbelievably grateful that sokka is back with him, alive and safe.
