I wanna imagine a Samfro Obsession au cause I love crazy, ring sick, possessive Frodo. But I can't cause Sam would just never do that. He's just too goated.
The theory that Frodo doesn't know who Legolas is is made so much funnier when you remember how important he is in The Hobbit.
Like king, he is from your bed time stories. He's the blond guy with the arrows. Son of that other blond guy who screwed the dwarfs over ? Yk the one. He killed a bunch of orcs while hanging out with that cool girl Kili liked? Bilbo had to of mentioned him.
ahh yes. My favourite character.
Can you imagine being Gandalf? Getting shit from other wizards because you have a thing for hobbits and you're just like, okay. Okay, maybe I'll temper my fascination with hobbits.
This Ring quest will have two hobbits. Maximum.
Then they all get to Rivendell and have somehow multiplied into four hobbits. And it's like. Okay. Maybe the others are right.
Maybe this is too many hobbits.
We have as many hobbits as we have not-hobbits.
But damn it, you just don't want to get rid of any of these hobbits. Screw it! Everyone can deal. Four hobbits. This is a four hobbits problem.
So away you go.
And things go bad in the worst possible way.
Over and over.
You've lost your hobbits. You've lost yourself. The fellowship has been separated.
It takes everything in your power to help the humans defend themselves, bringing them together to save Rohan. Finally, as things begin to look upright, you're ready to face the war with everything the Rohirrim have left.
You're ready to face him. This may be the hardest battle you've ever fought. But you ride.
Then you get there and two of your fucking hobbits are sitting there like "Yeah, while you were gone, we raised a tree army and beat Saruman's ass. Wanna help us loot his tower?"
....
There were not, in fact, too many hobbits.
This was a four hobbits problem.
Come imagine something funny with me, if you'd like
You know how in the Hobbit sometimes the Dwarves had to pick up and carry Bilbo because he was too slow / tiny to keep up with them? And to get him into the trees that time? Yes?
What if, somewhere while wandering around Erebor (after Smaug's gone, the goldsickness hasn't started yet, on their way up to the outside, probably somehwere in the chapter Not at Home) there's some massive bit of broken steps and the Dwarves scramble up fine but Bilbo's too short-legged for that so Thorin pulls him up. Thing is he expected the Hobbit to be, shall we say, dense: like a Dwarf. But he is not, being a Hobbit. And so Thorin shoots him up in the air (you know when you thought a bag would be heavy so you put way too much effort into lifting it, and end up lauching it and your hand three feet in the air? Yeah Thorin does this to Bilbo.)
And both look at each other, Thorin still holding him up off the ground over the broken rock. Thorin looks embarrassed, Bilbo frightened.
"What was that for?!" he demands.
"Sorry about that, Master Baggins," Thorin says placing the Hobbit on the ground beside him. "I did not expect you to be so light."
Bilbo turns red, splutters in incoherently for a moment (to accuse a Hobbit of being "light" is a terrible insult.) "I say!" he manages "I am a perfectly normal weight, considering the circumstances, thank you very much indeed. You can make your own food from now on, I shan't be helping." (A devastating Shire-ish insult. Might as well have called the King a gobshite.)
Thorin, baffled, "Well Bombur did a good enough job on his own, I'm sure we could make do."
"Oh so that's it, is it?" Bilbo replies, even more outraged. "I really thought you'd come to respect me after all. Well, so be it. At least you've told me in plain terms you don't think I'm of any use now that I got you all to the Mountain. A Hobbit likes to know where he stands, you know. And you would not be standing here if it wasn't for me Mr. Oakensheild."
"You are the most respected member of our Company, Mr. Baggins. And we appreciate very much your heroic efforts which resulted in our being here today. I have no idea what you are insulted over, but given that a dragon may be coming home any minute I suggest we hold this discussion for some other time and place, and let us march on."
"I should have left you in Thranduil's dungeon, that's what I should have done."

Frodo: *speaks Elvish*
Legolas: The heck was that?
Aragorn: He said good morning.
Legolas: He did?
Frodo: I thought you would… understand that?
Legolas: I’ve never heard someone speak like that before…it was strange, and stilted, and you used full words the whole time.
Aragorn: Elves may sound fancy to us, Frodo, but they speak slang, and almost exclusively in metaphors.
Frodo: Oh.
Legolas: Aragorn has described it as ‘a monstrosity of a language’.
Gimli: Dwarves have a better language.
Legolas: You do.
Gimli: Ha! You admit- wait, you admit it?
Legolas: Elves curse by using the names of trees. Tree names! You have actually cusses. Do you know what I would give to cuss, just once in my life, Gimli? Do you know what I would give to tell someone to f- f- f- I can’t even say it.
Gimli: You can’t say fuck?
Legolas: …I have an idea.
-
Legolas: The-
Gimli: Fuck.
Legolas: -are you talking about?
Boromir: Why did we let the dwarf start swearing for the elf?
Aragorn: Because I can’t wait to see Thranduil’s face when he finds out.
Bilbo baggins inspires me to be more witty , sarcastic and visibly autistic
ALRIGHT lemme tell you something
We all know this scene, we all love this scene
IN THE BOOK!!!! In the book after they had successfully driven Smaug out of the mountain, Thorin comes up to Bilbo and gives him the mithril shirt, just like in the movie, HOWEVER in the book he continues to adorn Bilbo with jewelry and then plants a crown of pearls and white gems and crystals atop his head
…the KING under the mountain…puts a CROWN on bilbos head…
AND PEOPLE SAY THEYRE NOT QUEER IN THE SLIGHTEST
Bilbo and Gollum while the Company was running for their lives from Goblins
Gollum: I'm tall when I'm young but short when I'm old, what-
Bilbo: You're a candle.
Gollum: FUCK
I had to gollums reaction was stuck in my head sense I saw this post
Almost to tears thinking about Frodo and his hypothetical kids.
In a world where Sam and Frodo get together and have kids, let's say they wait like 2 years after getting back to the Shire. Even if Frodo lives a long healthy hobbit lifespan of about 100 years, he's still only getting to see his oldest kid reach ~45. Which is still 5 years younger than he was when he left the Shire.
And I fully doubt he'd get a full life time after everything. If he dies around 90 that's only 35, barely past 33. If he dies around 80 that's only 25, barely past 21 which is the age he moved in with Bilbo.
Now Sam would probably live a good lifespan, letting him see his eldest up to ~57 but still.
Went 6 months without smoking or eating a potato 😭
the real reason the one ring took so long to destroy
Been suffering through my Prozac prescription, whole time I just needed to go on a quest.
