I don't know who needs to hear this but listen. I've worked for my boss for over 20 years, which means I've devoted a good chunk of my life to the stuff we make. It's important to me as a result, but it's not mine. It will never be mine. It's his. And he just pissed me off with a pointless phone call that lasted past 5pm when I should've been relaxing, and the call accomplished nothing.

I used to get really upset over this stuff. Ten years ago I'd be crying right now. But today? I'm going to get something cold to drink and work on a bang submission. My job is important to me, but it's not my life. It's how I fund my life. If he wants to make stupid decisions, that's his choice. I get a paycheck either way.

Unless you work for yourself (and even then I think having a passion unrelated to work is good), please find something to look forward to outside of your job. It can be anything. Reading, writing, art, photography, gardening, cooking, collecting, fishing, yarncrafts, decorating, lounging on a hammock. And then when something ridiculous happens on the job that is out of your control, you can turn your mind to the thing that brings you joy instead. Don't waste your energy trying to change things completely out of your control.

I'm drinking a nice margarita now, btw. I made up my own version! You start with some cherry limeade and grind a little sea salt into it. Then pour in your spirits. I use tequila & some triple sec, since I've got triple sec in the house. Add a dash of cayenne if you like it spicy. Stir! Enjoy! Spicy cherry limeade margarita!
