artistsuniversum: “Kathin Marchenko is a textile artist and designer known for her expressive embroidery on delicate tulle fabric.
Using a "painting with thread" technique, she creates portraits, anatomical forms, and ethereal figures that seem to float within wooden hoops, blending craft with fine art.”
Artist: @kathrin_marchenko

Ok I guess if you want to get really absolutely technical about it, I guess Martin Luther's 95 Theses were a zine. I guess. I suppose.
I want all animals to become sapient enough to produce art specifically because I want to see what sort of sex homunculus caricature each species would create if given the ability to draw
Like we've already got the anime waifu with the needle-waist and watermelon-bazonkas and borzoi-legs and bug-eyes. Now show me a fucked-up stupid beetle as drawn by a horny beetle. I want to see what a cartoonishly sexy lion looks like according to lions. I want to see the most ridiculous drawing of a peahen that would have the peacocks squaring up by the fountain.
We give this power to ostriches and they just start drawing people
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

Something that fascinates me about this deleted scene is that Jack has clearly been allowed to roam freely on the Dauntless.
I just find it so interesting that Norrington doesn't see Jack as a threat to the ship. I guess he either realizes Jack is halfway decent, or has him figured out enough to know he isn't going to try anything at least until they reach the Isla de Muerta. (Plus, Jack is super outnumbered.) He does basically tell Jack not to cause trouble (the line about contemplating all possible meanings of the phrase "silent as the grave") and the fact that Jack is still free to wander around the deck suggests he's actually been behaving himself.
I imagine Gillette or somebody asking, "Shouldn't we lock him up?" and Norrington saying, "He won't be a problem," while shooting Jack a very pointed look.
Anyway. Interesting dynamics going on here. Jack knowing that he needs to cooperate and play nice if he wants to get what he wants, and Norrington being oddly chill about having an actual pirate loose on his ship.
Love that this alien arm is clearly just green bubblewrap. 70s prosthetics I love you
Classic SF once again betrayed by a clear, static-free signal and a flat digital screen
This is how I remember classic Who and Star Trek, folks, with signal ghosts and scanning lines (but usually with more static/snow)
Sharing this on my main because it appears from the notes that it's useful for some modern viewers.
You KNOW classic SF used the limited displays of CRT television and the static of transmitted signals the way theaters use stage makeup and lighting to make inexpensive props look great fine— take advantage of the medium! But it's hard to imagine how it looked if you've only seen Blu-ray HD restorations.
I swear to you, despite classic Who using bubble wrap for years as one of its go-to materials that reflected light in interesting ways, we never realized that's what it was.

[ID: Gauche painting of a vibrant orange-red tiger creature against dark foliage, gazing behind itself to meet the viewer. Its stripes are tinted green, with an extra set of legs; it curves around a small, bright red star. End ID.]
i really fuck with it when my oomfs start their posts in media res. they'll open it with a phrase like "it's just funny because..." and then i look at their blog to see what's funny and. nothing.
It's like how Beowulf opens with a call to attention.
posting is exactly like beowulf

by the way, if a ship disgusts you but you don’t harass people who ship it, you’re a proshipper.
being a proshipper isn’t exclusive to only “enjoying a ship that would have been morally unacceptable in real life”.
being a proshipper just means “being against online harassment”.
you can be a proshipper and be disgusted by some specific ships at the same time, as long as you don’t harass people who enjoy them.
being a proshipper literally just means you know how to scroll past / ignore / mute / block things that make you uncomfortable instead of “attacking people for enjoying these fictional things”.
being a proshipper means being against bullying and harassing people over fictional things because you can separate fiction from reality and you know that how people choose to enjoy fictional things is not your business. that’s all.
