I've lost a love I never thought I'd lose, I've had to change the entire plan of where I thought my life was going, and I've had to adapt to all the changes around me. My circle has gotten tighter as people who swore they'd never leave left. My family has picked me up and held me as I fell apart. The ones who care about me have helped me glue parts of me back together and have supported me as I find out which parts I keep and which parts I let go. I'm still on this path to self discovery, still trying to open my eyes to all that I can be, and working towards discovering what is important to me, but this journey is beautiful, exciting, sometimes painful, but I will be stronger for it. I am the storm, complete and utter chaos but beautiful and magnificent; I am powerful and will rejoice in my strength.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again since no-one has yet given me a valid reason as to why James Potter, lacking a wand, didn’t just transform into Prongs when Voldy turned up and like… fucking spear him. Why didn’t he do that? Like I don’t care how astonishingly powerful a dark wizard he was, no-one could ever be prepared for walking into a house and there’s just… a massive fuck off stag staring you down? How could you possibly react to that? 

You couldn’t, giving said stag the opportunity to put an antler through his eye and save the day. Not to mention, can you imagine the Prophet headlines if that was how it’d gone down?

He was unregistrated, right? I mean.. sure, he would have killed the dark lord, but still, it’s a crime. And then there’s the fact that the others were animagi too, which would lead to them being exposed and most certainly being accused of not getting themselves a registration. Their connections to Remus would be obvious, and I think he’d be exposed too. We all learned about the problems lycantrophy causes, and I don’t think James would have been stupid enough to risk that his best friend lost everything.

Do you see that? Your HEALTHCARE WORKERS, the ones who are LITERALLY exposing themselves to this virus every day, aren’t being paid fair wages! They are not being paid for the risks they are taking, to keep YOU healthy, to help YOU get better if you get sick, to be there for YOU and your community. Not only are they at risk, but so are their families! Look up how long Covid19 stays on surfaces & in fabrics, recognize how long it takes to show symptoms. These people are CONTINUOUSLY putting themselves at risk of exposure, but they do it anyway because this is the job they love, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be compensated for it.

I asked "am I wasting my time or is there something here?" & This is what I pulled. I've told him multiple times that I'm not backing down from a challenge and his past doesn't scare me, I fight my own demons. Can someone elaborate, please?

Adding: my soul feels at peace beside him. I've never in my life felt so comfortable and safe than in the 15 hours I was with him. I've known love, this was something different. I truly feel like he's worth it but I don't know how to convince him of that.

Just tried out that Japanese incense (the kinda expensive stuff it’s in a little box and it comes with a ceramic stand?) for the first time and holy shit I don’t think I’m ever buying anything else. I could actually enjoy the shit instead of being choked to death. Granted the stuff that chokes me is high quality but I’ve never experiences lighter incense before. That frankincense slaps

The brand is called Morning Star

This is what it looks like along with the little stand it comes with. I bought it in a new age shop for $4.95 plus tax. It comes with 50 but if you don’t burn incense all the way down it’ll last you quite a long time. It has a paper inside with all the scents it comes in. There’s probably a site but I mostly find these in new age or occult supply shops.

Morning Star is sublime and their lotus incense is the only thing I’ve ever tried that actually smells like lotus flowers. It’s the best thing I’ve found for daily offerings to Isis that’s not a loose incense.

I love and recommend Morning Star incense - I use a ton of their scents, but especially their frankincense, myrrh, and lotus for Kemetic offerings.

They have their own website and ship throughout the US! I know not everyone has an occult/new age shop near them.

Black crystal advice?

A friend of mine with a rather dark past recently asked me for advice on a crystal but I don't know how exactly to help him. I'm attaching the exact texts that he sent me.

"I want to know why I was given this odd black crystal thing when I was losing my mind to the darkness and it helped me regain control. It was this pyramid shaped crystalline rock with red symbols on the side that both matched the shade and smell of old blood."

I ask him if he has pictures or could send me a picture.

"Sadly, no. A friend of mine, I suppose you could call him a practitioner of natural Magick or more savage blood Magick a shaman of whatever I don't know but I wasn't able to harm him for whatever reason, gave me one and told me to carry it at all times. It kinda felt like a chain holding me to the ground inside a hurricane. It helped a lot."

I responded asking if he still has it, is it still protecting him.

"Idk if protection is the ideal terminology to use. In a way it did but at the same time no. It worked more like a catalyst for myself. Or one of those floatation devices you throw to drowning people. Gave me the ability to stand on my own."

In my experience, black has been used as protection & pyramid shaped crystals are used to focus energies, so I told him that & he says...

"Well whatever it was straight exploded the day I woke up being strangled by something."

I asked him to elaborate on strangled.

"Yeah. Just some kind of... figure was strangling me and holding me down around 3-4 am one night/morning. Couldn't move. Couldn't breathe. Just started back accepting death. Crystal was on my nightstand my bed. It exploded. Roommate ran in there thinking a gun went off, lights came on, the entity vanished, and I've been on constant alert since."

More info on dark past includes abuse as a child that caused a very high pain tolerance which led sketchy family members to, essentially, use him as a guard dog by getting him addicted to drugs like meth which made him unstable and very violent to the point he couldn't feel pain. Sketchy family member also has him trained in fighting to make him a very effective weapon, but he's about six years removed from that life. At some point, in order to cope, he began dabbling in the darker magick, making deals with demons (Ambriel, Blisdon, & Adnachiel), near death encounters, and similar experiences until he witnessed what he can only describe as angels above his friends who he pulled from a bad wreck, this led to him removing himself from those beings & pursuing a different life. Now it's just the nightmares, still very strong, incredibly fast recovery time (like a decent sized cut healed in just a few hours where it should have been days), and shockingly quick reflexes/ability to absorb intense situations in seconds but he's a great guy and I want to help him.

Any advice?

Things I Wish I Had Known When I Started Practicing

Chakras are part of closed practices. Find a different theory on energy centres and how they work. I have my own here but there are many more that exist.

Do your research. Question everything. Don’t follow Tumblr posts blindly. Do your research, make sure that research is credible. Some authors out there are shitty (Edred Thorsson for example). Some Etsy shop owners appropriate. Do your research.

Support minority businesses! Support local businesses!

The best basic herbs to have on hand are: sage, rosemary, cinnamon, thyme, lavender, sea salt. 

For the love of the gods, please ward. The first time you ward, you will most likely sleep upwards of 10+ hours because it is draining as hell but WARD. Wards will keep you safe from entities that seek to harm you.

ALWAYS have a good banishing spell and a good return to sender spell on hand if you need it. Here is Part 1 of a good masterpost on protections and warding.

Always be a skeptic. Don’t just believe things blindly. Is a god telling you they’re an actual god? Question them. Do your research on that god. Always question.

DO NOT INGEST ESSENTIAL OILS. They’re meant to be applied topically with a carrier oil. Don’t ingest them.

Some herbs will interact with your medication if you’re on them. If you’re on medication and want to try herbal remedies, talk to your doctor to make sure that your herbal remedy won’t negatively interact with your medication.

Tarot cards don’t need to be gifted or stolen in order to work. That’s a myth. However, if you feel like you’d like your tarot decks to be gifted to you, do that. Whatever you’re comfortable with.

Your first tarot deck doesn’t have to be explicitly Raider Waite Smith. My first deck was a variation on the traditional RWS style and it allowed me to read tarot more intuitively.

There’s no shame in using a tarot guidebook. There’s 78 cards that’s a LOT to memorize. I haven’t memorized them all and I’ve been reading tarot for two years now. Take your time and don’t be embarrassed to read tarot from a guidebook. I do paid tarot readings and still use my guidebooks.

If you’re worried about wasting food as an offering, it’s okay to eat them. I do it. Many others do it. If you’re still wary about eating the food, if you have plant friends, you can just bury the offerings (especially relevant for chthonic worshippers).

The Theoi website is one of the best for information on Hellenism. Every thing written on that website is cited back to an Ancient Greek text, or even several.

PLEASE PRACTICE FIRE SAFETY. If you’re burning an object in a metal bowl, don’t touch the bowl afterwards. You may burn yourself. Have something to put out a fire on hand should something happen. Don’t burn hair. Crack a window so you don’t inhale smoke. Be safe with fire.

Personalize your spells! If you find a spell on tumblr that you wanna try but don’t have an ingredient, go with your instinct and research what it could be replaced with! Tumblr spells are guidelines and you can modify that shit to your heart’s content.
