I'mma just join the 'Early Zephyr Au/What if Hiccstrid had Zephyr during rtte?' bandwagon by introducing the fic that I've been working on for months.

The fic is called "Arrival of a Sweet Breeze" and it takes place during season 5 to 6 of rtte. I have written down 4 chapters currently, and have been rewriting said chapters for the past few weeks since some parts and characterizations are not fitting into the story. For the love of me, I can't make our beloved characters occ too much.

I have rewritten chapters 1 and 2, and when I have finally finished rewriting them, my brain just had to remind me of one small but important detail.

The dragons

My brain just had to go like "Oh Vyr, you forgot to include the dragons, better rewrite the chapters again".

If I'm able AND not laziness hitting me like a damn truck, I'll sit down and get writing again. The fic is around 9-10 thousand words now, I just hope I'll be able to write more.

I'm open to questions and suggestions from you guys since this is my first time writing a full on story and aiming to posting it.

Family of Three

It had been a long night full of waiting and full of worry. He watched as Astrid struggled and strained, not complaining once when she nearly crushed his hand or deafened him with her screams, because in the grand scheme of things it really didn't matter if he was hurt. All that mattered to him was that his wife and their baby were safe and healthy.

And as dawn came, so did the newest Haddock. Hiccup watched in awe as they lifted the baby-- his and Astrid's baby-- cleaning the newborn off and lowering them into his waiting arms.

"Congratulations, Chief. You have a daughter."

Hiccup gazed down in wonder at the little bundle in his arms. She was so small, so terribly fragile and absolutely beautiful. He held her gingerly, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead as a tear slid down his cheek. It was clear she had Astrid's nose in addition to his auburn hair.

She was perfect.

He'd been waiting for this moment since he knew she was coming, and it was worth the wait to have her in his arms. A perfectly healthy baby girl, the first female Haddock to be born in several generations.

Hiccup's eyes teared up even more at that revelation. She was already breaking tradition, just like her father.

His watery eyes found Astrids, and despite looking utterly exhausted, she mirrored the joy he was emanating. A laugh of pure joy bubbled from him as he looked back down at his daughter. Her little hand grabbed onto his finger with surprising strength. "Hi Zephyr," his voice was full of emotion. "I'm your dad. And...gods, is it great to finally meet you. Daddy loves you so much, little one."

As much as he didn't want to let her go, she needed to be held by her mother. Astrid was reaching for the baby, and Hiccup carefully lowered her into his wife's arms. "You did a great job, Milady. She looks just like you."

Wrapping his arms around his little family, Hiccup couldn't tear his eyes away from Zephyr. Her hand was still wrapped around his finger, and couldn't be happier.

I just know that when Zephyr was born with Stoick's hair and Astrid's eyes Hiccup was sobbing for three days straight.

Have your kids ever seen you without your beard? How did/would they react if you decided to shave it off?

"As a matter of fact, yes, the kids have seen me without a beard. It's uh, it's a funny story, actually..."

"Let's see... Zephyr was five, and Nuffink had just turned three. Zephyr comes up to me and says very matter-of-fact that she doesn't like my beard. So, I asked her if I ought to shave it. Big shock, she says yes. I figured, why not? So, the following morning I shaved it...and uh...neither of my kids recognized me at first."

"Once Zephyr realized it was me, she said something like put it back, and I had to explain to her that I had to let it grow back. She didn't like it, I suppose," he laughed, "Nuffink was too small to have an opinion, but it took a while for him to warm back up to me again."

It would be funny (to me) if Zephyr and/or Nuffink (either of them, whatever) totally thinks because Toothless is their dad's BFF and loves them for that fact alone, that they can get away with EVERYTHING with him.

Oh no.

Toothless will narc to Hiccup or Astrid.
