Run Fast Food Junkie! Run!
As I write this I'm gasping for breathe. It has been at least 5 weeks since I last did any cardio what so ever. Normally that wouldn't be a too much of a problem for me but this time instead of not doing cardio and still eating healthy I gorged myself out on so much fast food I can't believe I didn't have a heart attack! I was really starting to feel the effects thought. I was constantly tired, always hungry, lazy, getting headaches, and stomachaches/nausea like you wouldn't believe. Luckily all I had to do was start exercising again and then my nutrition would follow (I like to call it Kim's Runners Guilt: If I get up early to go for a run, so help me I will kick my ass if I screw it up by eating a Big Mac!).
The real problem is getting back on the horse, well actually getting back on the horse would be nice becasue then he could do all the running for me and I would just have to deal with a bruised bum! I find that, no matter the length of time, once you break your running/gym routine it's always the same amount of pain to start up again. That has been my problem for the last 5+ weeks. With work, camping, and family events I haven't had a regular schedule going on for a while.
This morning, luckily for me, some jackass decided that trimming the trees around my house should be done at fucking 7:00am....7AM in the Fucking morning!!!! Really?!?!? But I digress. It was lucky becasue this was the third morning that someone/something from outside had woken me up this early, meaning that I was already getting into the pattern of waking up early . So after 30 minutes of listening to that roaring machine I finally got up and weighed myself, because that is what I do when I'm bored....I never said I was interesting. Though my weight had staying basically the same my fat percentage had gone up, and honestly that was all I needed for motivation. After suiting up (Gym Style!) I chugged a bottle of water and headed out. Then stopped and waited for the sickness of chugging a bottle of water first thing in the morning pass. Then I was off...walking.
This is another problem I have, I get up, get dressed, head out and then...walk. I think walking is a good start for warming up your legs for the run sure but I enjoy walking so much that sometimes I forget to run. Not this morning though! Lucky for me I had a plan to trick myself to run, and that plan? Awesome up beat tunes! To me this IS the most important step. Music is my drive for running, for working, for living, for enjoying really shitty Hollywood movies, etc. So when you hear Starships by Nicki Minaj or Trembling Hands by Temper Trap I'm off like a rocket! Except way slower becasue I am prone to injuring myself by stating off to hard after a hiatus.
Honestly? I love running, it is probably my favorite exercise. It is like meditation for me but instead of inner peace I get to listen to my music and just chillax. Well other then the burning in my lungs and the strain felt throughout my body but other then that so much fun!! Seriously though I love the feeling after I finish a run. It is worth the pain of getting up early, it's worth the burn in the lungs, it's worth the weird stares I get from people when I pass by them gasping for air .It is worth all that becasue once you finish the run, EVERYTHING FEELS AMAZING!!!!
Water never tastes more refreshing, egg whites on 12 grain toast never tastes better and falling face first onto your bed knowing that you don't have to get up until you have work at 4 feels AMAZING! I mean there is also you know personal satisfaction of completing 5k, your body getting healthier and all that extra stuff. I guess I am just a bit of a masochist becasue I love the strain of a run purely because I know that the serene feeling after will be totally worth it. That is what pushes me to just go that last km.
Well now that I have finally caught my breathe again, I can finally get on with my day...Fall Out New Vegas here I come!
