We’ve been marathoning the Bond films (currently on Live and Let Die), and I can’t help but think of Kit in England watching the movies with Jem and Tessa because of their “Read that book, saw that movie” game, and Kit trying to secretly make martinis for himself and muttering “Herondale. Kit Herondale.” And Jem and Tess finding him halfway through the drink and yanking it away because he is TOO YOUNG.

Alastair Carstairs

After reading Chain of Gold and sitting on it for a bit, I’ve come to think that Alastair is the most interesting character to come out of the book. He’s not my favourite or least favourite character, but he’s definitely the character I want to read more about in later books. We really didn’t know a lot about Alastair before CoG except that he enjoyed making people suffer and making everyone think they’re beneath him. But after CoG he’s really opened up to the readers. We see he’s desire to protect his family and actually cares for Charles and Thomas.

However he also needs to make right on what he did at the Academy. Obviously the person he wants forgiveness from is Thomas most of all, but that is the selfish answer. The person he needs it from is Matthew. And Alastair has the unique ability to help Matthew seeing as he knows about alcoholism and isn’t a friend, so he can be blunt about his problem. I also believe Cassandra said that Matthew tells Cordelia about his sin, so there’s someone really close to Alastair to tell him about the path he unknowingly put Matthew on. Helping Matthew could finally see Alastair redeem himself in the eyes of The Merry Thieves, thus allowing him to be with Thomas, and friends with the two people’s lives he ruined the most.

Do y’all ever think about how Kit is training to be a Shadowhunter, and putting runes on himself; but for three years he has to see the permanent voyancy rune that Ty gave him? For three years he has something permanently on his body that reminds him of Ty. On his hand. He sees it everyday. Herondale’s, I swear!

Do you all think about how similar Grace and Ty are? Both deal in the art of Necromancy that’s used on their sibling. It was Grace who gave James the idea to burn Blackthorn manor in Idris. Ty suggests burning the Blackthorn manor in London. Both ask help from someone they barely know to help with their resurrection spell. They both fell in love with Herondale’s. Besides their siblings, both are loners. Both were raised by their non-birth parents, and both of those parents (Tatiana and Julian) has shielded them from interacting with outside Shadowhunters.

Anyway, I worried about Ty.
