does anyone else replay scenes of things obsessively because something about it is nice and satisfying? I like to replay the same like. five second clip of things sometimes because it gives me time to sorta analyze the behaviours of the people. i do this obsessively

peter parker who spilled web fluid in his backpack. which is fine, except he doesn’t want his school issued. ipad to get damaged by it. So Peter decides to just swing home carrying the damn ipad. No need to complicate things on an already stressful day.

But someone gets a picture. then someone else. the imagine spreads. It starts as “ipad kid” memes, but very quickly Peter finds out that him holding the ipad is a HIT with people who use an AAC to communicate, especially since lots of them already like Spider-Man.

Peter runs with it. he sets up an old computer he found to be a makeshift AAC and he brings it with him to kid-centered events. There’s almost always a kid there with an AAC who is hesitant to use it, and they use it more when they see their hero doing it.

(he never programmed his name into the machine, for obvious reasons. He never put in any of his friends names either. And thats a relief, because now he’ll never know if the spell would have erased those buttons as well or not)

at the end of everything, you will see tony stark’s grave. you will realize that if you look close enough there are different grooves in his chest from where his heart learned to beat in a new way. prints in his tired old body to track where the blood had listened to the heart, took the message upwards, relaying to his brain that more important information needed priority, a space to live. a drag path of connections in his long-dead mind where these synapses had learned to light up, told his hands what to make, his body what to do, his heart how to love. long lines of nerves that swirled together in cursive, every letter of every alphabet lost in the swoops and curly-q’s. it’s every portrait. it’s every memoir. it’s every get-well-soon card. it’s every number, it’s zeroes and ones and ones and zeroes stacked in infinity probabilities; it’s formulas, it’s equations, it’s blueprints. it’s let’s run this one last time, for the kid. it’s just-in-case, and i’ll try to move on but i’ll miss him ‘til i die. it’s the rain, and the river, and the plumbing, and the sink, and the droplets from the faucet spray splashed onto a glass frame. that’s you, isn’t it? the beginning, and the end. feedback loop, feedback loop, feedback loop.

this story never ends as long as we continue to tell it.

forever thinking about how in spider-man: no way home, the iron spider suit’s nanonites(??) take from the mask part of the suit first when there is a loss in material to another part of the body.

do you think it was because tony figured that if peter’s identity was revealed mid-battle & leaked to the public, he’d be around to protect peter from the legal consequences of it. or even that if peter’s identity was fully leaked, that everyone would see the same potential in this bright eyed young teenager that tony himself saw, and that they would want to protect him as much as they’ve wanted to protect spider-man all these years. so protecting peter’s body was always the first priority in the making of the design.

either way, it’s an act of love. and although neither case becomes true, it’s ironically a feature that ends up saving peter’s life, regardless. because just when the world hated peter parker the most, a man that hates him in another universe saw the same kid that tony stark once saw, all those years ago.

fully agree. this is fascinating, i never considered the implications of the mask being the first thing to go.

i also think that tony figured, in any timeline, whether he was alive or dead to see it, he would much rather spider-man’s identity be revealed than have peter parker be dead.

hopefully tony would be there to deal with the fallout, but if not, at least his kid is alive. that’s the only thing that really mattered to him. (this is selfish. if peter were to say, he would much rather be dead than have his secret out. this only becomes more and more true as time goes on.)

he used to go thrift shopping with may. she never saw a piece of furniture that she didn’t “see potential” in. (this extended to people. to places. she was always so generous. her bleeding heart. her moral mission.) anyways. so while he grew up poor, he’s never lived in a home that wasn’t cozy with things.

he’s never felt so much discomfort as when he moved into his shitty apartment with nothing that couldn’t fit into a cardboard box.

but whatever.
