This is what I mean when I yearn for contemporary fiction that's unreservedly, capital-W Weird. So many anthology publishers and yet many of them never reach this level of purity.
Well it's too bad she's wasting all that on books about
Literal Nazi Propaganda
So there's hope ig
It is Nazi propaganda, but I think even calling it propaganda sells the sheer buttfuck insanity of Miguel Serrano (and other writers like Julius Evola/Savitri Devi in that general wheelhouse) short. El Ultimo Avatara is quite literally a book about how Hitler himself is the avatar of a pre-Christian deity linked to Atlantis, Agartha, and a whole laundry list of other Western/non-Western esotericism sprinkled throughout.
Calling this propaganda makes it sound like it's rhetorically aimed at a general population. People don't read Serrano to be convinced of fascism. It's generally fascists looking for deeper justifications of an ideology already very deep in the quagmire of pseudo-Hegelianism. Savitri Devi was a neo-Nazi who served the Third Reich as a spy because she already had a fanatical contempt for Catholicism, industrialism, and humanism. She saw Nazism as the antidote to Christianity, pollution, animal abuse, and representing a total occult path towards perfection.
So, after the war, not only did she write a lot about continuing to promote Nazism even after being arrested, Devi also wrote books like The Lightning and the Sun which not only compared Hitler to Genghis Khan and Akhenaten but insisted that he was superior in spiritual character to them because he was literally the avatar of Vishnu, sent to purify the world at the end of the Kali Yuga. She believed that veganism and occultism even her unique spin on feminism are as much a part of his ideals as the fascism. Julius Evola was in a similar boat as an ex-leftist and ex-Dadaist who believed hallucinogens revealed to him the truth of perennial religion.
Rene Guenon has the misfortune of being a fascinating thinker whose insights into comparative religion and modern phenomenology get tied up with this crowd, not unlike Rene Girard. Just to be clear, while many members of the NSDAP were part of what we might label New Age/New Thought movements as well as occultism/neopaganism, Hitler himself was apathetic to religion apart from the Imperial Cult he seeked to build around himself and also expressing admiration for Islam as a "warrior religion" and East Asia as having "warrior culture." A lot of the Wewelburg Castle/archaeological shenanigans, he expressed contempt with. He wasn't even Catholic beyond the most perfunctory activity in his childhood.
Nowadays, thanks to the internet, this stuff is accessible to the average person if they're so inclined and have such a void of religion inside of them.
