The vibranium arm is a prosthetic, regardless of how others wanna brush that aside or pretend it’s a weapon and that it’s okay and even funny when it’s removed without his permission in what’s basically a pissy slapfest, not a real fight where his opponent had to fear for their life. (which btw is gross ableism and I do not trust anyone that brushes it aside. You do not take someone’s prosthetic. You do not take someone’s prosthetic. It’s a gross violation of their body autonomy. There is no justification.)

It is a prosthetic. Because he is missing a whole ass limb. And this is on top of C-PTSD from prolonged trauma, memory loss, the mental conditioning from the Winter Soldier programming, any mental illness he currently deals with (depression at least).

I learned about these interviews maybe a couple weeks before the release of the Love and Thunder trailers that a lot of people are talking about and can’t believe how many people realize just how deeply fucked up the scene where Thor gets sexually assaulted for laughs is with this context.

But its Taika so people laugh at it and thirst over it or just chose to focus on Loki tattoo on his back rather than sexual harrasment. People either dont see it as harrassment because its a man - double standards, or they chose to ignore it cos its their beloved Taika and they live in premise he cant do no wrong. And dont get me started on Jane and Val watching and doing nothing. Switch their roles, Thor watching and Jane being stripped and chained and I guarantee you fans would already have petitions to remove the director @blackfang08

Petitions? I've seen directors get doxxed, death threats, and bricks thrown at them for less.

I think there's definitely a case of people not realizing men can be sexual assault victims (there are entire comedies about prison rape), but the big thing is Taika is just so charismatic people don't realize he's doing something super fucked up. He could probably steal their wallets and they would think it's a donation or something.

This the same as Loki. Restrained and stripped against their will. I don’t care if it was necessary for the narrative or not, but please acknowledge that the forced stripping is meant to humiliate the character, and shouldn’t be limited to fan service/false feminism or whatever the fuck people think when characters (male especially nowadays) are subjected to the ‘female gaze’.

Yes, you’re allowed to admire their physique. No, you must also realise and acknowledge as a character and hence a person in the story, they are also forced to do something they have no control over.

So don’t come and @ and tell people women used to be treated like that in cinema and so should the men now. That isn’t the point- that’s not how you stop over sexualization of actors in cinema, you don’t do that by sexualizing male characters, you do that by limiting the sexualization all together.

And I agree with the others, solving a problem in cinema isn’t about making the other sex/gender face the same dehumanization, it’s about removing it entirely, that’s equality… As @rosalysaoirse succinctly put it.

Just because Xtianity does those things doesn't mean they apply to all - or even most - religions. Judaism, for example - since you tagged it in the post, doesn't actually require non-Jews to follow our laws, doesn't proselytize, and makes up less than 0.2% of the world population. And it's hardly alone. When's the last time you heard of an indigenous American religion trying to force their beliefs on others? How about Sikhism? Yoruba? Zoroastrianism?

Saying that the critique leveled in the OP only applies to Christianity is ludicrous and betrays an extremely parochial understanding of the politics of religion globally. What about the weaponization of Buddhism against Muslims in Myanmar? Of Islam against LGBT people and women in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan? Of Hinduism against Muslims in India, and indeed the existence of Hindu fascism generally? What about State Shinto in imperial Japan? What about discrimination against LGBT people in orthodox Jewish communities? What about the way religion has very often tracked with political power throughout history, venerating earthly political leaders as divine or divinely-sanctioned as justification for their rule? The divine right of kings, the pharaoh as living god, the emperor descended from Amaterasu, the Sapa Inca as son of Inti?

Just because not all religious people are bigoted, or cruel, or oppressive (indeed, not all Christians are bigoted, or cruel, or oppressive), does not mean that it is wrong to critique the role that religious institutions and practices have in bigotry, cruelty, and oppression. To be clear, I don’t have a problem with religion—any religion—in any inherent sense. But the idea that religious institutions and practices, Christian and otherwise, often play an oppressive role in society is undeniable. And that is worth critiquing!

Finally some proper callouts to these things. I'd be the first to tell people about how shitty Christians can be, but people constantly claiming that all Christians are horrible people, and Christianity is the ONLY religion that people weaponize is at best small minded, and at worst eurocentric.

Is it possible for primordial gods to have demigod children?

-- The primordial deities in greek mythology are the children of Chaos, namely Tartarus, Gaia, Nyx, Erebus, Hemera, and Eros (though Eros is also said to be Aphrodite’s son, which I believe is also the case in the Riordan!Verse). Gaia is said to have birthed Ouranus before they together had the Titans. --

I think whether it’s possible for them to have demigod children depends on how you want to look at them. Personally I think they’re not human enough to have demigod children - as they stand closer to creation than humanity. I believe the more we go up in the family tree, the more abstract the deities become, ending with Chaos. For example, how Nyx is the embodiment of darkness, and more described as a presence than a person, while, for example, Mr. D is just like any other person.

Even the Titans only ever made children with each other, as was the case with Rhea and Kronos, who birthed the next generation, namely the gods, who would stand closer to humanity.

I also just think the gods are the only ones who would want to interact with humans in any way, as they are often purposefully made in the image of humanity. They’re supposed to be relatable and amusing, and someone to hold accountable for their misfortune. While the Titans and - especially - the primordial gods were used more to explain existence itself.

Ultimately you can do whatever you want of course. If you want to stay as close to canon as possible I wouldn’t say they couldn’t have demigod children. Though I would think of it as practically as possible; like how Gaea couldn’t have any demigod children because she is asleep and can barely form a humanoid body, how Ouranus has been killed etc. When it comes to Tartarus, Nyx, and the others... well I think it’s important to keep in mind that someone would have to fall in love with them for them to have demigod children in the first place.

But then again, a demigod child could have been created for a specific purpose, like someone searching out one of the primordial gods so their child would be powerful, a weapon more than anything else.
