Leni just laughed lightly, the sound far away from her own ears as it seemed to come from a different bod entirely, managing to string some words together. “Alright, I’ll buy food.” she murmured, feeling her eyes growing heavy, head sinking into the pillows like it was going to fall right through the mattress. Not resisting being held by her friend she instead moved one of her arms so it was draped across her, kissing the air in response to the one pressed to her head, not bothering to move enough to find some of Nat’s flesh. 

“Space is better than earth, i’m invincible in space.”  The reply was simple but spoke to the girls current state of mind, not having to think was always preferred to feeling like she was present in the moment. At least when she was on her own left to think, otherwise the uneasy feeling rose in the pit of her stomach. “You should join me.” 

“Food doesn’t mean ramen and frozen fried shit, by the way..” Natalia rolled her eyes with a soft chuckle. “As much as I love all that. Gotta stay in shape. Life involves lots of running. At least mine does.” She opened her eyes again, knowing she couldn’t fall asleep yet, as she still had some things to do. 

She let out a loud laugh. “Me? You want me to get high with you? Absolutely not,” Nat chuckled. “I’d take one puff of something and fall asleep for nine days. Besides, I still have to shower, and you’re going to be passed the fuck out by the time I’m done. Might crack a bottle open, though..”

Leni let out a pfft noise, all her breath rushing out her at once when she mentioned not paying rent again, although it was dark she rolled her eyes anyway. “Yeah but i’m a fucking scrounger if I don’t pay rent, it’s an asshole move. Like okay I can’t pay as much as maybe you do, but I can at least contribute.” She offered, cackling at the idea of making a huge guy cry, it was a sight to behold, especially in her mind. “Sounds like he got what he deserved. Men are such pussies.” 

Rolling onto her side under the blanket she wrapped her legs around Nat in a kind of limpet fashion, still resting her head on her chest somewhat. “Yeah but you don’t have to show how boring you are. At least pretend mate.” Although being in her own bed wasn’t what she wanted right now, leading to her snorting. “Fuck off, you love me being in here. Makes you feel wanted. Grounds me too, I feel like i’m in space…” She drifted. 

Natalia snorted softly. She was rather used to helping Leni out, and letting her have an unused room was no different, and she never thought of her as a scrounger. “Put food in the fridge, then; or booze in the cabinet. Both are important..” she said with a smile, turning herself a bit so she was holding the girl a bit, pressing a gentle kiss against her forehead. 

She shrugged, shaking her head as her fingers played with the end of the girl’s hair. “I don’t know how to be a real, civilized person. I don’t even know what interesting is enough to fake it. You should know that..” she said with a chuckle, rolling her eyes a little. She wasn’t going to criticize her friend for being obviously high. Maybe she would in the morning, but not now. “Yeah, you’re always in fuckin’ space, aren’t you?” Natalia asked with a lazy smile.

“No, I don’t want a smoke you fucking dipshit,” Emelia cursed out the older - dare she say creepy - man that offered her a cigarette. Of all people, he had to ask her, the girl with an oxygen tank clearly visible. Maybe he was just trying to annoy her? It worked, but, either way, she walked off with an eye roll and not so much as a glance back.

“Hey,” Nat furrowed her eyebrows, firmly shoving the man away, causing him to stumble a few feet back. She’d only decided at the last second that she wasn’t going to deck him in the mouth. “How about you not be a walking fucking health hazard, pal? Looking at you is already sickening enough.” Sliding her hands into her pockets, she sighed as she walked off, eventually catching up to the girl. “You should use that thing as a weapon. He could’ve used a tank to the shin.”

“Fucking hell, I was feeling guilty about not paying rent but it sounds like you don’t fucking need it.” Leni laughed lightly under her breath, relaxing into the woman’s arms as she wrapped one around her. “How did you win it?” Although in any other situation she’d know, in her half asleep and fully high state the woman could hardly remember her friends name, let alone what she spent her free time doing. 

“Maybe you should change it up…” She mumbled, licking her bottom lip swiftly before finishing her sentance. “…otherwise I’ll have to call you boring.” The way her fingers moved slowly was actually quite relaxing to Leni even if it was intended to feel good to Nat more. “I hung out here, lay on the bed, lay on the couch, lay on the floor…I lay…” she muttered. 

Natalia laughed. “I told you rent wasn’t a thing you had to worry about,” she said. She was more than well off, she just wasn’t much of a spender. As much as she could’ve afforded a lavish apartment in the heart of the city, she just didn’t need it. “By making some six-foot clown cry like a little kid. He had the muscles, he just had no follow-through..” 

“But I am boring,” Natalia insisted. As far as she was concerned, she didn’t really have any goals or plans for improvement. She was just enjoying living each day how she wanted, even if it was usually the same routine. “Never think to lay in your own bed though, do you?” she teased, though she was rather used to coming home to the guest bed undisturbed while there was already a lump in her own.

“Six years is a fucking long time mate, but i’m not going to stop you.” Turning her head she gave the girl who was now laying next to her a lazy smile her eyes still half closed. She had been almost asleep when the other woman had come home but she wasn’t about to be annoyed at her since it was her house. Hell it was her bed. “Good night?” Leni just asked in a tired voice, turning onto her side so she could curl up next to Nat, sure they hadn’t be friends for ever, but they were certainly very close. Hell they’d slept together many times. 

“Should I be playing the worried wife and ask you where the fuck you’ve been and who you’ve been seeing?” She teased, letting her fingers trail down the girls arm as she closed her eyes once more, letting the darkness consume her. There girl was in nothing but her underwear, but in the dark no one would be able to see her marks and scars, plus Nat wasn’t even looking. 

Natalia sighed contently, putting an arm around Leni when the girl curled up against her. “Yeah, good night. Won eight-hundred bucks,” she said softly but proudly, a smile on her face even though the room was mostly dark. It was always a satisfying feeling, being at home in the silence and in bed after winning a fight; not that she’d ever lost one. 

She chuckled a bit, “I mean, if you’d like to. But I’ll probably have the same answers a lot. It’d get boring,” she said with a hum, her eyes closing as Leni’s ministrations began to relax her. Nat trusted her, and simply having her around relaxed her. “What’d you do all night?”

Delilah: No, I'm okay. It was a few days ago. I was hanging out with my friend and drinking's... kind of our thing? So he was really drunk and he offered to get me a drink so I took a sip and it was like... the best thing, ever, Nat. And then I just kind of freaked out and stopped.

Nat: that's kind of amazing.

Nat: i mean i'm sorry you were tempted, that's really shitty, especially coming from a friend.

Nat: but at least you know now that you have some sort of control. i mean that kind of proves that you're getting stronger, babe.

Leni was laying on Nat’s bed with her eyes open, staring at the ceiling in the dark as she let her high roll through her. Her whole body felt heavy in the best way possible, as if she might sink through the mattress at any moment if she just managed to relax enough. Vaguely she registered that someone had come into the apartment, but it didn’t cause her to move even a fraction of an inch, instead just staying in her trance as other sounds occurred around her. The woman wasn’t even under the blankets, or dressed, just laying there in her underwear like a zombie. 

She didn’t hear much of anything until there was a rapping on wood somewhere in teh apartment, making her sit up bleary eyed to look out of the door which was open a crack. Seeing Nat outside her door she made a noise, trying to moisten her mouth which was now dryer than the Sahara desert. “I’m here mate.” She croaked out in a raspy voice, eyelids heavy as she peered through the gloom. “Where the fuck have you been, it’s what like….like…fuck if I know I dunno what time it is.” Leni sighed, letting herself fall back onto the bed.  

It was definitely late, and Nat had to bite back a soft chuckle when she heard Leni’s voice. Opening the door, she gave the girl a crooked smile. It was odd, having her around, but she had to admit that it was nice coming home to someone, though it was still something she was getting used to without drawing her gun at the sight of a light on at the end of the hall.

Walking into the room, Nat grabbed the hem of her blood-speckled shirt and slowly pulled it off, grunting almost silently. Bruises adorned her back from hitting the ground and her ribs from being hit. There was hardly a time where the woman wasn’t riddles with small injuries, though she’d still never broken a bone. Cracked, sure--but never broken. “It’s four,” she said, falling back onto the bed beside Leni with a sigh, looking up at the ceiling. “I need to sleep for six years...”

It was late when Natalia rolled in. It was always late. And this time, she immediately headed into the bathroom to wash the blood from her face and hands. The underground fighting was safe, and it was definitely the least harmful way of letting out her aggression. And if it was just for money, she wouldn’t have let herself get hit at all--but this time it was frustration, and there was nothing that got you going better than a fist to the face, in her opinion.

Part of her hoped Leni was home, but her shoes were still by the door and there was no reason for Nat to believe she wasn’t, so she at least tried to be quiet as she rinsed out her mouth repeatedly and cleaned herself up with a wet rag. Her knuckles were cut and bruised, but she didn’t look too bad once she was finished. Still, it was odd. The girl knew everything about her, but exposing her to the aftermath of her hobbies was still new to her. After she was done in the bathroom, Nat tossed the rag into the hamper before walking down the hallway, knocking softly on Leni’s door. “You up?”

Delilah: I'd be safe and warm if I was in LA. California dreamin on such a winter's day... sorry, not the time for a music reference. Yes, I'm safe and warm; I'm at the museum.

Nat: have you gotten a hold of him? i can try and find him if you want.

Nat: you're adorable. there's never a bad time for a music reference, by the way. i love when you sing.

Nat: but i'm glad you're alright. i was worried about you. it's hard to get a signal down here.

Delilah: Are you safe, Wonder Woman?

Nat: sure am, dollface. stuck underground, but i supposed it's better than it is up there.

Nat: are you alright? you safe and warm?

“I’m not being funny but I am going to have to pee if this goes on too much longer.” Stella complained, tapping her leg against the floor with a loud clicking noise each time her heel smacked down. Staying hydrated was normally something she would stand behind, but now she was regretting it a lot. To make matters worse she was only two stops away from her own, making home so close she could almost touch it, but just not get to it. “New York has seen snow before, this is stupid.”

Natalia chuckled softly. She’d heard complaints from nearly every mouth down there, but the tall brunette’s was certainly the most rational. She didn’t care much about where people absolutely needed to be, but natural human functions were definitely worth being worried about. “Subway bathrooms aren’t exactly ideal, but I’ll go with you if you don’t want to go by yourself. I certainly wouldn’t want to.”

Nat shrugged, “It’s whatever. ‘Long as they’re clothes.” She walked over to the closet, finding a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt, deciding that was enough. She was just about to drop her towel and change when she saw the look on Leni’s face. She could’ve guessed things would eventually move in that direction, and she was never one to argue. Nat kissed the girl back, tangling gentle fingers in Leni’s wet hair.

“You won’t let me have the drugs you’re going to have to find another way to distract me.” Leni murmured against the other girls lips, sliding one of her arms around the woman’s waist to hold her flush against her. “Quid pro quo.” She whispered, running her tongue along her bottom lip to request access to her mouth. It was rare that one of their ‘altercations’ over Leni taking drugs didn’t end in them making out at the very least. They both used it as a way to forget problems, so they both used it together.

"Fine," Natalia murmured against Leni's lips. She was pretty good at that kind of a distraction, and she was much more willing to do that than what the girl really wanted to do. Kissing Leni back hard, allowing the girl's tongue to slide into her mouth, Natalia grabbed the towel that covered her naked body, pulling it off and tossing it onto the floor.
