Happy holidays to everyone!
My grishaverse secret Santa gift for @circusofthestarscollective ! These are two of my favorite wesper moments drawn in comics. I had a ton of fun drawing this!
Meanwhile Kaz at the museum
Kaz: *staring at two paintings*
Bystander: wow you must really be into art! I don't think I've ever seen anyone stare so intensely at a painting before
Kaz: *absent-mindedly* oh I'm just trying to decide which one would look better hanging over my bed
Bystander:...oh haha that's pretty funny lol
Kaz: right haha it's totally a joke *cue the fakes laughter you've ever heard*
Two Weeks Later
News Reporter: -and the two paintings have mysteriously disappeared with absolutely no trace
Bystander: guess he couldn't decide-oh SHIT wait
========
or alternatively
Bystander:...oh haha that's pretty funny lol
Kaz:*suddenly realizing what he said* crap! uh, you heard nothing *throws smoke bomb and disappears*
I am normal about six of crows
I react regularly when I see something even remotely close to six of crows
I do not make everything about six of crows
Completely outlandish and unserious Grishaverse theory: Baghra is Kaz Brekker's mother! (I know, I know, just let me explain)
Both have a disposition for hitting people with canes
Both spend their time glaring at people
Both are always grumpy
Both have a past that they try to hide due to a specific family member
Maybe the reason Kaz is so good at small magic tricks/making things disappear is because he has a little bit of magic that he is able to use to destroy/move/erase things
So either Baghra is secretly Kaz's mother or Leigh just accidently gave them a few similar qualities while writing (It's the latter option😔)
In honor of the Crows literally just being teenagers
Now imagining them playing hide and seek.
They all definitely 1. play this because they never got the chance to as children and 2. take this game WAY too fucking seriously.
And worse part? They’re ALL cheaters
Just imagine Kaz and Inej being seekers and literally keeping everyone on their toes. Wylan and Jesper end up a closet, trying to catch their breath and Wylan says, “How did he—how did Kaz find us? Theres’s no way—!” and Jesper says; “It’s impossible, right?”
And Inej from behind them says, “It’s very much impossible.” and they slowly turn and Inej says; “You know, I like this hiding spot a lot better. Kaz will never find us here.” and Wylan and Jesper are just FROZEN before she smiles and says, “Scream and run.” and they do just that.
Just imagining Nina hiding somewhere dark and Kaz is looking around, slowly turns to where she is and says, “I see you.” and you just see all of the color drain from her face.
Like it feels like fucking life or death 😭
hide and seek with the crows is legally considered psychological torture
Kuwei, take the L my guy.
When we're looking at the sky and I say "that sky is very sky" but nobody understands the jackvibe
Matthias: Do you even have a moral compass?
Kaz: No, it drowned in the harbour
Matthias: …You speak in riddles, Demjin
rip Jesper Fahey you would’ve spraying the whip cream directly into your mouth from the can
Six of Crows characters are allergic to good decisions.
You see, I would have ruined the whole scheme right here because I would have immediately tried to kill Van Eck with my bare hands in front of Ghezen and everyone.
I'd say multiple fractured ribs, internal bleeding, and a face full of swollen contusions is indeed believable, Wylan, good job bud. Even Kaz is impressed.
I find it interesting that the major climatic plans of both SoC and CK are structured around a loud and persistant noise (the bells of Black Protocol and the Plague Siren). It allows for chapters to perform their minor time jumps effortlessly with the reader clearly knowing whether this was before or after the previous event they read about based on when the character speaking hears the sound and we also almost get eased into it because in SoC we get the other chimes of the Elder Clock updating us on the time at the start of each chapter, so we can visually see when each event takes place and know that we are jumping a little due to the perspective shifts, but then in CK we know only what was happening when the plague siren sounded and we see the characters either side of that in the order that works best to suspend mystery and reveal the success of the plan - the plague siren sounds when Kuwei and Kaz are stood on stage (“what’s that?” “That, Kuwei, is the sound Death makes when she comes to call) but then we have Jesper’s chapter leading up to the siren sounding and him shooting Kuwei, and then we have Nina’s chapter in the Barrel when the siren finally sounds after her fourth stop. I can’t think of another specific example of a book that uses this as a technique but I think it’s a really good one and has the potential to be played around with in a lot of ways, and it’s really well executed in the duology
