I really need more people to truly grasp that all of Shane's fears in Heated Rivalry and in The Long Game were not just a result of his anxious mind.

Men like Shane and Scott and Troy - their paranoia and their fears are VERY much based in the reality of the culture and language they are exposed to day after day in their locker rooms.

They have had to watch and listen to their colleagues, men who they would in large part consider to be like brothers, spout cruel and vile shit about queer people.

They have likely had to watch other athletes be scratched or iced out of good game minutes, be traded on a whim, and otherwise lose job opportunities even if they were at the top of their games simply because they hinted that they might want to come out of the closet.

When The Long Game comes out and people inevitably get furious with Shane for dragging his feet in wanting to come out publicly even though it's hurting Ilya not to, I need you all to remember that the NHL is at the core of this story. And the NHL is one of the most homophobic sports leagues in the WORLD.

The Game Changer series is not a love letter to hockey. It is a love letter to the queer men who love hockey, but are not loved back by hockey.

Idk if they actually remeber 4s, but it's actually so in character that Buck didn't chase Tommy in 8s after he told Taylor on her "you didn't chase me"

And you can scream all you want, but Tommy did make it sound like he doesn't want Buck. That he can't trust him

It's actually draws such an interesting parallel with bucktaylor (starting season 4) and bucktommy:

But as some say Tommy ran bc of his (non canon) history and Buck should chase him, Buck has no less (maybe way more) heartbreak not to try with Tommy antyhing and deserving Tommy chase him
