God, can you imagine someone from Finland (or wherever) heading to a Midwestern state fair and eating every variety of fried thing imaginable?
NGL, USA getting stoked for the rest of the world experiencing 'murica doesn't excite me. We've got 'murica at home. They've been exporting it for years. (Edinburgh was full of wannabe Scottish cowboys last weekend because someone called Zach Bryan was playing Murrayfield.)
However! I love the idea of the rest of the world happening to the USA. Case in point:
A Bostonian friend even shared that the governor of Massachusetts said something like, "I think I may need to call up to Maine or New Hampshire for more alcohol."
And that was before Scotland won their opening game. π€£
The point is, you don't have 'murica at home. We've been telling people that whatever version of the US you think you have at home is not actually the US because it's not actually the US.
The response has been "nah. we really do know your country better than you do despite never setting foot in it."
Folks being excited about the rest of the world seeing "America" aren't necessarily "yay export US culture and values," but rather "yay! people will finally see that we aren't just a bunch of shallow stereotypes as depicted in the media we also have no control over the content of."
Ummm she's literally sensitive :/

Always remember that the EU did a study in 2013 about the effects of piracy on media publishers and found that there is no correlation between piracy and sales! (And then they tried to hide that study bc that's not the result they wanted)
So piracy is at worst not even a problem, and at best it's free advertisement.
Source: (the link to the actual study is in the article)
In 2013, the European Commission ordered a β¬360,000 ($430,000) study on how piracy affects sales of music, books, movies and games in the EU

Whereβs that one post thatβs like Reasons Why My Wife Cried This Week and when are we gonna get a fanfic of that but Ryland Grace.
Reasons my human has cried:
* New student, very small. Grace said it was pebble. Pebble is small Earth rock. Pebble likes name.
* He found out Eridians have no gender rules.
* Students brought him mineral sample. After he stopped crying he said he loves show-and-tell game. Human naming conventions oddly literal.
* I told him Earthsun grew bright.
* I took him up atop atmosphere bypass elevator to look at stars.
* He woke up from nap and found me still with him. I did not wait on his chest; he says I am heavy like βelephantβ and he βcouldnβt breathe.β I laid my arm over him instead, kept him close, feeling safe. He said βcuddleβ was warm.
* Before class he heard younglings singing.
* He has plants in house from sprouts on ship. Plant grew βbud.β
* Engineers got seawater temperature right. He took off shoes and stood in water, sighing. He didnβt care about pants getting damp. Cried until shirt was also damp. Humans very endlessly wet.
* He missed βDoritos.β
* Adrian helped food scientists make taumoeba dried paste. Made it crunchy after heating. We fused it into triangle form. Told him it was Tauritos. That made him laugh-cry. Laugh-cry is rare and precious.
* He remembered Eridians have no gender rules.
* We made him celebration outfit. Used metals he calls pretty. He can see frequencies named βcolorfulβ and βshiny.β These make humans happiest.
* I gave him hug when he wasnβt expecting it. Easier to hug close now with exosuit. Hug when Grace sitting down so he does not fall over.
* Told him to think long time, stay with me as long as he can.
u ever hear someone call for you so you gotta lowkey whip around and hit this pose

One moment I liked was that Carl and Grace's time having fun shopping, adding so much duct tape to their cart, playing bowling with stacks of aluminium foil, and wearing safety glasses at the checkout doesn't have the typical comedy beat of "acting suddenly embarrassed once someone asks what they're doing." Because this film is about the importance of having fun and building friendships as an essential component of human existence, and bonding with strangers is one of the purest experiences we can have. To undermine it with the typical punchline of "this kinda stuff is cringe" would undermine the thematic center of the narrative itself, and I'm glad the film is mature enough to realize that.
Edit: I see the power of whimsy and the necessity of earnest expression as an essential component of the human experience resonates with a lot of people on here, doesn't it?
