âChem Chem Babyâ
Finished two of these.....another three to come and I think some more of the unopened cans too.
Resin pour went well....Iâll most likely need to top these up tomorrow and add some more drips....overall pretty happy with the result.
Made a couple of whales for the âChem Chem Babyâ tins. Hopefully get the resin poured tomorrow.....
âChem Chem Babyâ.......some wip shots.....a progression of the tinned whale prototype. Should have a couple of these finished soon.
âThe Mawâ
The Maw is an embroidered patch, 45mm round. Cotton thread on lined, double layered black felt. Comes bagged with header card.
These patches came about from some street works I made mostly involving gaping, toothy wooden mouths. These were made with the help of a local craftsperson and her amazing machine.
âTinned Whaleâ
This is a prototype for an upcoming series......good job as many mistakes were made on this one, not that I dislike it just would do some things differently on future editions.
This my âPea Spoonâ, the first of....well....Iâd say many but more likely mean few. I have now made five of these out of oak and padauk. I have more designs forthcoming to be sold individually and in sets.
âSleepy Meatheadsâ
Wooden meatheads, painted with acrylic and detailed with coloured charcoal and pencil with a matt clear coat to seal it all up.
Another in the medicine cabinet series, this one is âClearmindâ
Each clear, resin cast brain pill contains 100mg of attenuated, inconsistent pure thought. To be taken literally, repeat as effects diminish. And, as usual, keep within reach at all times.
The second of the framed whales, again utilising sound effects.Â
Clockwise from top left: A deep breath as in preparation to cry, scream or whine. Anger, fire rising. Something heavy sitting/falling down. Foreboding, depressing/anxious atmosphere. A slow reaction state when very tired or groggy from lack of sleep or from exhaustion.
First of three framed whales. The text is a sound effect - âPeko Pekoâ for the noise of a hungry, grumbling stomach.
âThe Voices In My Headâ
Part of my medicine cabinet series. Each caplet contains one voice, double up for more voices. To be taken daily with food, stress or euphoria. If in any doubt consult your voices.
âBonehusâ
Bonehouse was at one time just a simplistic term for an ossuary that would hold the bones of the dead.
The Anglo-Saxons spelt it ban-hus, referring to a living human body (the body, the chest, breast, literally âthe bone-houseâ). In this way it became a repository/depository of memories, history, emotions, ideas etc. In many cultures the body is seen as the house of your soul.Â
Now renewing itself as a representation of the body, and in this case as a representation of the body as home with all the previous connotations still attached. For those without a roof over their heads their body (and what it can carry/drag about with it) is all they have.
Paddling Pool Whale or âBipolar Bear Rides Againâ
Not sure if I posted the reasoning behind my whales......
WhalesâŚ..whatâs all that about then?
Youâre not really going to get any deep insight hereâŚ..Itâs a few paragraphsâŚ..Iâll just run through some of the fluff.
Thereâs this fairly universal mythic theme of a hero entering a fisheâs/whaleâs belly and ultimately emerging again, transformed. It crosses into most cultures in one form or another. Itâs a dark descent, and for some an often repeated journey. A mostly unsettling, uncomfortable set of recollections. Sometimes itâs a very turbulent, desperate and disturbing ride, other times it can be a barely imperceptible slipping away and before you know it, there you are deep down in the belly facing a seemingly impossible return.
There have been warning signs, usually through symptoms of anxiety and depression or sometimes a general malaise about our purposeless life. A traveler on this path can emerge from the belly thinking they have made the almost miraculous return only to find themselves on repeat, languishing back in the belly of the beast having gained no insight, no progress, noâŚâŚâŚThere is no ability to concentrate, a lack of sleep, no work can be achieved, simple everyday tasks seem impossible. There is the feeling of losing all control, will and hope. During your time in the belly of the whale you lose your identity, you are alone with no-one to reinforce your persona. This is where panic can set in and in order to try to re-establish some meaning and identity you revert to the non-working youâŚ..and yesâŚ..there you go on the slippery slopeâŚâŚ
We visit the belly of the whale in order to self regulate and self correct. We do have the ability to do this on our own but with help and guidance gaining and maintaining a balanced lifestyle and identity becomes more sustainable in the long term. With less fear and panic a return trip becomes a more distant prospect. Ultimately itâs not all about the journeys end but what you do on that journey in the belly of the whale.
Made a few much larger Puddle Whales (largest of these is about 26cm).
A quick little 3d scribble.....a friend gave me some of these little shells (about 1cm)....so I made some arm snails fighting over a doughnut.
The Warm Bunce Of Mr Palmer.
âThis product is brought to you by control, ineptitude, ambivalence, blight, decay, the demise of the small voice, the hoarding stench of the hype beast, the serious cognitive impotence machine marching through your soul holding hands with The Man.â
Painted wood (watercolour and acrylic), pencil and clearcoat. Bagged with a signed header card. These are in stacks of ÂŁ50 notes with a ÂŁ2500 strap.
