He’s 17 years older than Annette
They met when she was bouncing between living on the street and in hotels for a few months when she was 16 (so he would have been 33…ew..)
He had begun treating her like she was special right away, giving her her own suite in the space above the man in the moon theater
“the star suite” he called it.
He could practically taste her desperate need for approval,for someone to treat her like she mattered.
However—as the years went on being his favorite came with higher and higher standards—don’t fuck up your lines—hit your marks—smile in interviews even when you don’t want to—be grateful—be graceful—be sexy—but be dignified—
By the time Annette was 19 he started to whip her for missing lines
By age 20 he’d whip her for any reason he could find
By age 21 is when he became Annette movie manager since she had “stepped into the big leagues”
By age 22 hed started to take bigger and bigger “commissions” from her checks…more than he was legally allowed to
But annette never said anything..by now she knew better
By age 23 Jack was in a bit of a bind with the mob…he owed them some money!….A LOT…OF MONEY….and because “special habits”—like coke and cards…he didn’t have what he owed
But he did have Annette…
At first he would hand her a glass of wine with some crushed “bennies” in it to “help her relax”…then let a few grunts through the back theater entrance and leave them with her
By the 3rd time Annette knew to pour the drinks into a plant when he wasn’t looking
So he started holding her down instead to “get her to take her medicine”
By age 25
Annette had enough…
She came into his office while he was filling in paperwork late one evening—after even the janitor had gone home to sleep…she caught him by surprise—who knew making chloroform was so easy?….she bound him with his own belt
And when jack woke up
She tortured Jack Sterling for 10 hours, ripping all his nails out, waterboarding him, burning him with cigars, pulled all of his pearly white teeth, shattered all the bones in his left hand, and the trick that finally did him in?
She had cut his manhood off and forced him to eat it…well more like choke it down…
Then she took the fire axe from the stage—opened up his chest right in his office..and ate his still warm bloody heart at his desk…
