Trying to have a cute homoerotic sword duel with my narrative foil but she refuses to engage with any of my banter and just goes for the kill shot every time
Part of me is starting to wonder if she wants to actually just kill me

Sort-of redraw I drew while watching The Missing Link's cutscenes.
The polar opposite of corporate accounts trying to come across as hip and super friendly are the ones for libraries, aquariums, parks systems and the like, that are basically just trying to get people excited about learning and the wonder of history/science by posting things like this:
You know how much I would lose my mind if I was at an aquarium and turned a corner to see a wild ass heron staring at a fish tank
cruelty is so easy. youre not special for choosing it
"The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual, only evil interesting. This is the treason of the artist; a refusal to admit the banality of evil and the terrible boredom of pain."
-Ursula K. LeGuin, The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas
"Evil is boring. Right? I kinda believe in the banality and mundaneness of evil. Evil is just selfish impulses, which at the end of the day are really easy to understand. It’s easy to understand why people do bad things. It’s like “yeah, ok, you’re selfish and scared and cruel, I get it”. Being good is complex and beautiful and hard." - Brennan Lee Mulligan
"How monotonously alike all the great tyrants and conquerors have been: how gloriously different are the saints." --C.S. Lewis
i don't MIND the version of Kamala in Tokon being depicted as kind of a rookie because compared to characters like Spider-Man and Iron Man yeah she hasn't been around as long but like. in the comics she's been around for quite a while by now. i mean it's been 13 years. she was an Avenger, she led the Champions, plus she's college age by now.... and to the teams she's been in she was often the dependable moral compass, if not outright the leader. she's to the younger heroes what Captain America was to the Avengers, or Cyclops to the X-Men. so it feels a bit weird to me to have her in Tokon as the young and starry-eyed genki girl..... i get it but i do wish we got a little more of that strong and smart "leader" Ms. Marvel. instead she feels a bit too childish to me. the kid-friendly all-ages hero who's always peppy. idk. i should just be happy that she's in and has her original powers.
Comic book adaptations always ensnare their protagonists in the first stage of their character arcs, because that's what all the other adaptations do, so it becomes The Standard Status Quo.
It's like how Peter Parker is always in high school. Except that Spider-Man is popular enough that there are adaptations where he's college-age or older, either because that specific adaptation ran long enough that he graduated or because the writers convinced Marvel to let them try something new. Ms Marvel doesn't get that, because she's new (relatively speaking) and less popular among the white boys that Marvel assumes are their core demographic. For some reason.
thing is, even at the start, Kamala was never really this peppy... she was always a pretty serious person with a grounded outlook. kinda feels like they just made her act more upbeat for the cute factor.

rewatching revolutionary girl utena and it's kind of hysterical how touga first makes himself relevant to the main plot. literally jumped out of the bushes and went "My name is John Normal. Let's date." and then he does this with his face
if you tell a trans woman she is "enforcing passing culture" by wanting to pass and expressing it i honestly hope nothing good happens in your life ever after that
Crazy that once I'm passing and starting to feel good about myself, fake allies are trying to tell me that being bricked tf out is actually the best.
This is why I'll never shut up about the part of Whipping Girl where Serano says we gotta stop calling it "passing." It pretty directly accuses us of 'hiding' or 'fooling people into thinking we're women.' We aren't "passing as women," we are women, we're being correctly gendered as women. When people deride us for "passing", they're blatantly saying that they don't think we're women. Afterall, nobody says cis women "pass as women" when they're correctly gendered as women.
i don’t care what anyone says, the “multiple floating weapons controlled by telekinesis/whatever” is, has been, and always will be cool as shit
