I love peeling glue off things so much that sometimes I feel tempted to cover some random objects in glue just so I could peel it off.
do you read fanfic for a fandom you haven't engaged with otherwise?
no and I wouldn't
no but I'd try
yes and I liked it
yes but it's not for me
I don't think ppl should read fanfic without understanding the source material
Walter White
just stumbled across a video of someone asking for fic recs and when asked what fandom they replied 'any' and my mind short circuited, pls add your thoughts in the tags
18 for the book asks 📚
What's the scariest book you've ever read?
Oh gosh. I'm a real wuss. Horror is not my thing at all (though I do love me a good Gothic tale).
I once physically recoiled when I was reading one of those animal encyclopaedia things and turned over the page to see a lifesize picture of a tarantula. As I recall it, I needed a minute to calm down. So maybe that was the scariest? XD
After a quick scroll through the list of books I own, I found two other contenders:
The Prince of Mist by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. I don't remember what happened, exactly, but some of the spooky scenes were definitely spooky. I really wish the author weren't so bad at writing women in his works for adults, because I do like his writing style.
Claudia (1939) by Rose Franken, in which our protagonist Claudia is a newlywed who spends her days being frivolous and stupid. She loves her husband David because he's such a big office caveman who spanks her when she's done something silly or wasted money again. It's everything you expect of 30s conservative housewife propaganda and more. What makes it even scarier is that the cover of the 1945 pocketbook version I own looks like this:
Those eyes will haunt me forever.
Thank you for asking! :)

Day 10 of mermay! Shark week going strong with Ryunosuke Tanaka!
Diana Wynne Jones wins big once again for understanding that the funniest way to write an isekai/portal fantasy is from the point of view of the people living in the fantasy world who look at the character who got isekai’d from our world and are like ‘WHAT is that guy’s deal???’
Howl/Howell stumbling back into his moving castle drunk after a night with his rugby bros is like the second funniest scene in that book, closely followed by poor Sophie getting reverse isekai’d and taking a day trip to Wales and suffering the terrible ordeal of a ride in a car.
Executive functioning tip: use a points based reward system to motivate yourself to do chores, less points for smaller tasks and more points for difficult tasks. You will have to write out your to-do list and desire how many points each task are worth and assign the price of rewards that may motivate you like crafting for an uninterrupted period of time, watching a movie, buying yourself a new pen or going out to eat. You can also see how many points you scored on a day to gauge how productive you have been and meter out your chores for the week. Yes, I feel like a kindergarten student. Yes, it does kind of work.
I have been doing this for a good few months now. Initially with daily goals but no rewards, now with both.
Works quite well, since I'm a fiend from hell when it comes to collecting things.
Downside: I keep making the system more complicated and elaborate to keep my brain interested. Eventually I will need to come up with a new system when this one gets too bloated.
I wonder if I'll forever have slightly fewer fics bookmarked than bookmarks on my own fics.
What a problem to have.

Great time to break out this quiz again:
Have you ever read an omegaverse fanfiction and thought, "Hey, what if that was real?" Well thank god it isn't, but we can give you a little
I know a lot of people think Kageyama was oblivious to Oikawa and didn't notice his dislike for him, but the truth is, I think he did notice. And that only makes their story even sadder. Imagine being a cute, shy kid whose only interaction was with your sister and grandfather, who loves volleyball, and when you're finally accepted into a promising school team, the kindest and nicest kid in the whole school suddenly starts hating you out of nowhere! The most skilled and intelligent kid on and off the court treats you badly. Why did Oikawa treat everyone well except him? Kageyama must have thought he was such a terrible child that someone as nice as Oikawa would hate him so much.He must have thought: 'Did I do something wrong? What did I do?' Oikawa wasn't a bully; he was nice to everyone except Tobio. He taught everyone except Tobio. Tobio must have felt terrible. Now imagine Oikawa's point of view when he matured. He was mean and cruel with the excited little boy following him around as if Oikawa were the best setter of all, even though Oikawa was afraid Tobio might try to steal his position., and Kageyama would never again see him with bright eyes and admiration. Now that look was only for Daichi and Sugawara, who treated him well even though they knew Kageyama during his rebellious phase.
This is the true tragedy of Oikawa and Tobio’s relationship. Tobio is very observant. He literally told everyone else “That’s Oikawa. He has a terrible personality.” And Tobio didn’t mention applying to go to Aoba Josai. He only applied to Shiratorizawa, then picked Karasuno. He didn’t want to go deal with Oikawa (or the rest of his teammates.) That’s not the behavior of someone who is oblivious.
First year middle school Tobio and third year middle school Tobio are hardly the same person AT ALL. He saw that his only value to people was for his “genius,” and changed accordingly. Problem was, he didn’t have anyone to match his level or bring him back down to earth, like Iwaizumi did for Oikawa. He wasn’t in a position to ask that from anyone on Kitagawa Daiichi. I think that’s why he yelled at Hinata in that middle school match, too. He saw the potential in that broad jump and he was PISSED because he wanted someone like that on his team, but all he had was lazy Kunimi and average Kindaichi. He didn’t have the same skillset as Oikawa to be able to adjust to them because no one taught him how. Oikawa sure didn’t.
How was he supposed to know Hinata didn’t have a real team? He was playing Tobio with a team. And Hinata didn’t tell him any of that, because why would he? He thinks Tobio’s an asshole.
This picture fucking HAUNTS me. Look at where Tobio is standing. Look at who he’s holding on to. If that had been Sugawara in that photo, meeting little baby Tobio, the entirety of Haikyuu would have played out differently. I bet you Tobio would have offered to help Shoyo immediately after that middle school game and they would have been instant best friends for life. But that’s not what happened.
