"David, no," Alex grumbles, flicking his hand at him but not yet awake enough to think about retracting his hand back under the comforter.
He buries his face into the pillow with a groan.
David keeps licking his fingers still hanging off the mattress.
Alex groans again and twists to squint down at David.
"It's too early for this, David," he croaks out. "I went to bed crazy late, don't tell Henry."
"Henry already knows," Henry says from the doorway.
He's wearing one of Alex's old campaign shirts, boxer briefs and mismatched socks. His hair is all messy and he has a red pillow mark on his cheek.
Alex doesn't think he'll ever get used to seeing him like this, all soft and open and vulnerable. All his.
He's so enamored with Henry, it takes him a few seconds to sit up and frown.
Henry smiles sheepishly. "I made breakfast."
Alex's eyebrows shoot up. "You made breakfast…" he repeats slowly.
"It's burnt," Henry shrugs. "But we can have cereals."
Alex falls back onto the pillow with a snort. "Do I need to call 911?"
"Mh-mh," Henry shakes his head with a smile. "I drowned the pan in cold water, no fire hazard in the kitchen."
"Not since you've come back upstairs."
Henry tries to pretend to be offended but he's smiling too widely to make it believable.
Alex settles deeper into the comforter.
"Come back to bed," he tells Henry, holding his hand out to him. "I need more cuddles."
"You would have had more cuddles had you come to bed before midnight as you said you would," Henry points out, already making his way to the bed.
Instead of going to his own side of the bed, he goes to Alex, lifts the comforter and settles right on top of him.
Alex hums happily and holds on to him tightly.
"Hi," Henry whispers back into his neck and Alex can feel his smile against his skin.
"Not even a week into the new house and you're already trying to burn it down," Alex laughs. "What am I going to do with you?"
"Love me anyway," Henry mumbles into his skin.
"Okay," Alex readily agrees.
"Cereals are gonna get soggy."
Alex freezes. "Have you… Have you already poured milk on the cereals?"
Alex laughs into his hair.
