Hi friends, especially F1 RPF writers. You may have seen that there is a someone making videos reacting to F1 RPF on his Patreon. (Not using his name for search purpose, but will link the main how to report post below).
If you're someone like me who's unsure of how to navigate AO3 (or just weren't aware), here's some recommendations to keeping your works a little more secure in our safe community space. While it doesn't prevent everything, it's just a little extra you can do.
LOCKING — keeps your works for users to access only. However, it looks that this person actually has an AO3 account and has access to padlocked fics. So this might NOT be the only and best method you should take.
PRIVACY SETTINGS ON YOUR ACCOUNT — you can find in your AO3 preferences to hide your works from search engines (when possible). There's also the ability to hide share buttons on your works to prevent them from being shared outside of AO3 itself.
REPORTING — the best way we can keep our community safe is by reporting his video/Patreon to try and get it removed/prevent him from making further content. Please follow through to help out.
A REMINDER TO KEEP RPF IN RPF SPACES
If anyone has anything to add, please feel free!
Worry about it kitten
ok ♥️
fuck ♥️
this is basically how it went right
Being single fucks so hard. Every piece of furniture and decoration in my house was chosen by me. I have never stood in an ikea arguing about what set of drawers to buy because it's my house.
like i genuinely can’t believe how afraid of being alone i was for like a decade. like what was i doing. being alone rocks so hard
sometimes you just gotta say "oh brother" and move on
i think what people lose sight of in the whole “keep rpf in fandom spaces” conversation is that it’s in your best interest as a reader to keep fics and fanart on platforms like tumblr and ao3. as much as we like to say rpf is fine, the people involved are often understandably uncomfortable when rpf about them gets shoved in their faces. platforms like tiktok or twitter have algorithms that shove rpf into the people involved’s faces even if those people aren’t actively looking for it. literally nothing good comes from that. authors and artists are afraid to make art if they know the subject of it will probably see it. the people you’re writing about become hyper conscious of the shipping lens and change the way they interact with each other. fans who don’t like rpf start sending hate to creators. it’s all bad! there is genuinely no benefit to sharing works on twitter or tiktok, and if you want fic recs, there are soo many amazing lists here on tumblr. respect creators’ wishes when they share their art for free!
is this anything
forever grateful for the AO3 volunteers
forever grateful to the code reviewers and testers who work tirelessly to maintain the site
forever grateful for the endless people who donate their hard earned cash so AO3 can continue to run
forever grateful for the authors who work and write and continue to produce work contributing to the 16 million fan works
forever grateful to the readers and the ones especially who leave comments, kudos, bookmarks, and encourage authors to keep on writing
and always and forever grateful to AO3 for being an archive of endless choices and hosting some of the greatest works fandom have ever produced and all of it is for free
bringing this one out of the comments cause. yeah.
may all your favorite fanfic writers never lose their hyperfixation and love for your blorbos so they keep writing fanfics about your blorbos forever
however much you hate the united states of america it's not enough
big plans tonight
Nothing slapped my shit back into place like someone pointing out that the "genius gifted child with so much potential who got burnout and mental illness" is just the nerd equivalent to the jock "could have been a pro at sportsball if it wasn't for the injury".
