The Onion pulling zero fucking punches.
This is.... Absurdly cute. What the fuck.
It's worth noting that the reason the beaver wants the water to be deeper in the first place is that the Beaver is using the deep water as a pantry:
All summer and fall, beavers gather up branches with the leaves they actually eat, and store it in the deep end of the Pond, where the cold water and limited oxygen keep the leaves fresh all winter, so when it's negative 20 outside, a beaver can take a dip out of it's lodge, grab some refrigerated leaves in the (relatively) warmer water and go back to it's cozy little nap hole while everything else is out there suffering and eating bark or the like.
So it's less "there's a leak in my house" and more "OH SHIT THE FRIDGE!!"
forgot to post this the other day
I think that in real life…. Relationships r like . Your partner WILL ‘trauma dump’ on you. You will have to perform ‘emotional labor’ for your partner. Your partner will make mistakes. You will also do all of these things. The very nature of love is irrational and problematic and difficult …. To expect a relationship to be free of these things is strange to me…. The point is that your relationship to that person is ultimately worth it, and worth growing with them, helping each other, seeing the worst parts of another person and being able to love them anyway
There's a book I read years ago about marriages that last vs. ones that don't, and the Big Secret wasn't how much conflict or stress they had in them. It was how often each partner made little attempts at repair--whether apologies, letting things go, willingness to poke a bit of fun at themself for getting Super Mad over something silly, whatever--and how receptive each partner was to them.
If you're willing to forgive each other and get past things, your relationship lasts. If you're not, it doesn't.
Not all relationships SHOULD last. Not everything should be forgiven. But the key is how committed you are to getting past things together, NOT how many times issues come up or how similar or different you are.
cool. why the possum
he's a comrade
It's always funny to me when someone's like Americans suck Americans are so weird and I'm like yeah buddy you'll get no argument from me and then they go on to be like "ew they SMILE at you on the BUS" or "they say THANK YOU TOO MUCH at restaurants" and I'm like wait hang on thats what you're going with???? We do WAY worse stuff than that dude like are you sure that's your final answer
Oh exactly
“Reblog my poll so I can have a bigger sample size!” is the new, “If you don’t reblog this then you hate kittens and puppies and rainbows!” No. If your poll is worth reblogging, then people will do it without being told to.
I have seen this on all but three polls I’ve encountered since I posted this less than 24 hours ago fucking stoooooop. I’m about to beg staff for an option to block polls just so I never have to see that phrase again.

The One Trainer Who Has a Reason For Catching Shiny Pokemon
This went in a direction unexpected, but I am totally ok wth.
Wow, this one is unexpectedly wholesome, a nice surprise
I just realized that the catcher’s explanation was entirely free of derision. I heard derision in his explanation because I was expecting him to be arrogant and clout-chasing, but after seeing his reason, I went back and read.
He answered the girl’s question with total respect, and his self-satisfaction had nothing to do with feeling superior to her, but in achieving his goal of making his little brother happy.
I even missed how the catcher was INSISTENT that a shiny Pokémon was essentially no different, no better or worse than any other Pokémon of the same species.
Because he was thinking of his brother, whom he doesn’t love any more or any less on account of his albinism.
importance of standing tall against a big wave
to address one bad point fairly well-meaning buds are making in the comments: it doesnt matter if scoundrel jk already has too much money or the game is already selling well, it is STILL worth speaking your truth and choosing what you do and do not support FOR YOUR HEART ALONE
if you stand tall against massive crashing wave and say ‘i disagree’ it sometimes means nothing to the wave but it can mean everything to you. if others say ‘no thanks bud im sittin this one out on the safe boat' thats fine. their choice. i choose to face the wave. it is my right
years ago this would not even be discussion, nobody on any side would care. this is a conversation now BECAUSE buckaroos started standing up to something frightening and massive and saying ‘i choose to not support this, here is why.’ its a difficult trot, but not a hopeless trot
because here is the real secret, even the biggest waves get smaller and smaller over time
Eating while on shift is not permitted, staff are told. “If the system detects no keyboard stroke and mouse click, it will show you as idle for that particular duration, and it will be reported to your supervisor. So please avoid hampering your productivity.”
A training video about the webcam system, seen by the Guardian, says it “monitors and tracks real-time employee behaviour and detects any violations to pre-set business rules, and sends real-time alerts to managers to take corrective actions immediately”.
Capitalism is so exhausting
Fuck this
This is insane.
Capitalism is so innovative /s
Hi! Want to completely fuck the keyboard-tracking system in the ass? Want to do it in a way that they literally cannot do anything about without disabling primary Windows functions?
Step 1: Open Notepad.
Step 2: Copy the following text, line for line, omitting only the --- that caps either end of it. --- Dim objResult Set objShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Do While True objResult = objShell.sendkeys("{NUMLOCK}{NUMLOCK}") Wscript.Sleep (6000) Loop --- Step 3: Save this as whatever.vbs, put it somewhere you can access easily, and double click it when you start your computer.
What does this do?
This runs a very basic script, and every six seconds, your computer will double-tap the NumLock key (i.e., turn it on, and then off) in a single instant. This counts as a key-press, occurs with a key that shouldn’t affect most things that you’re doing, occurs with no gap between them even if it could affect things you’re doing, and should prevent this kind of BS from engaging. As an aside, this will also prevent your computer from automatically locking itself, so take that into account if you need to manually lock your computer when going to lunch or whatever.
Damn, Tumblr back at it. Now we got coders coming in to save the day.
Tumblr’s collective hate for capitalism is astounding every time but damn if I don’t love it
For all my call center readers.
