I’m sick to death of people telling me I’m “brave”, “strong”, “a warrior”, “a fighter”.
I am not- I’m just a person who never had a choice.
Survival is not strength. It is forced endurance.

As a child, being shouted at or punished for "answering back" when trying to defend myself against the verbal assault of my parent was one of the most damaging things I've ever experienced.
Your child is a human being that is still incredibly malleable. Forcing them to be quiet and complacent despite the verbal assault you're subjecting them to is going to stop them being able to understand that their voice matters, that people care about their feelings, and standing up for themselves in any type of way is wrong.
You're not telling them to "stop answering back", you're telling them "shut up and don't fight back"
One of the worst things I learnt whilst trying to figure out social interaction was that I'm friends with so many people but that doesn't mean they're friends with me.
So its become a big thing in my household to refer to thoughts as bees, because once I tried to describe to a neurotypical partner how my thought process works and I basically described it as a lot of bees buzzing around the nest, and to focus on one thought I have to catch the SPECIFIC bee that correlates to that thought, but there are so many bees just flying around that it's so hard to catch that ONE bee, I could easily spot another bee and decide to look at that bee, or get too distracted by the bees as a whole to focus on JUST ONE. So now, "I have too many bees" is a phrase we use to say I have too much going on in my head and cant focus or process properly, and now everything is bees. "Too many bees?" , "need to catch this bee", "give me a minute I need to find the right bee" and so many other statements that confuse the fuck out of legit everyone.
Bees.
